Gov. Kristi Noem is facing legal action after her latest endorsement caused an online furor that now risks taking a bite out of her standing in South Dakota at a time when she’s rumored to be among the front-runners on Donald Trump’s vice presidential shortlist.

It does seem odd that a sitting Governor takes time out of her job to endorse a private enterprise, at the very least, it seems to be a conflict of interest on her part. My guess is she was paid quite well and shows she can be bought off rather easily, maybe I’m wrong.

IMEXP . . .

A good dentist is hard to find. And when I have found one, I endorse.

I can see why a governor would want to go somewhere for this kind of work where she would not be recognized.

Maybe she just liked the work they did, and did the commercial to thank them.

“Time out of her job.”

Maybe a whole half-hour.

Did she not realize how this would look? Especially with all the commercials she’s done about all the jobs in SD? She’s played a plumber, tax person, even a dentist!

Does Trump not realize how his stream of barbed online comments, look?

He gets a pass, but Noem should be sued for endorsing a good dentist.

She should’ve taken the chicom bribes for providing secret documents. Not a problem.

Whatever the reason, I think it’s generally a bad idea for sitting politicians to be endorsing a private company, especially when that politician has a direct relationship with money and laws that could effect that company or competing companies.

I don’t have an issue with her going somewhere else to get dental work done, it’s the public endorsement and probably compensation for the endorsement that I’m against.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think you are the Governor of a State.

If you endorse someone, I don’t think you are in a position to enact legislation that could affect that business or competing businesses.

Think beyond this small situation, suppose some politician endorsed a particular stock or investment they personally owned or could manipulate that would be an issue.

I do not know where the fences are, on this kind of issue.

I also do not know the complexities of having a YouTube channel as a politician, because apparently you get some kind of income related to the number of viewers of your channel?

And, if the governor of State A travels to State M, buys a car there in State M, and then makes a video ala Noem did, endorsing the car dealerhip in State M . . . is that a violation of some campaign finance law/rule?

I also do not know, what nefarious provocateur of the left, among probably many, has the “job” of “influencing” Republicans and conservatives, into doing something that will lead to “charges” being filed, in effect or so to speak, by the DNC.

If you are the governor of State A and travel to State J, where you visit your elderly-mother-in-law, and while there, a fire breaks out at a neighbor of hers - that neighbor having a plumbing service with his van and company name parked in view of media cameras and mobile phones . . .

And you help the neighbor, a plumber, put out the fire, do you have to arrange with everybody to NOT broadcast any version of any imagery that includes the plumber’s company name on his van?

I do not know where the fences are, for such issues.

Gov. Kristi Noem used the dentistry in Texas. How is her endorsement in another state going to benefit her in South Dakota? That tells me she did it as a way of giving her appreciation for the satisfaction that the good results brought. There was no political quid pro quo at all.

Trump had a picture with a table full of Big Macs. Endorsement?

SloJoe drives a specific brand of EV and extols its virtue on TV. And the corvette. Endorsement?

I find it curious that a travel advocacy group that deals with airline and bus passenger concerns is filing suit against Noem. I was trying to find out more about their mission and leadership, but now the site doesn’t respond and it’s not worth my time. https://www.travelersunited.org/leadership/

People get cancer treatment at MD Anderson in Houston. People from all over the world fly there. To mimic the article, why go there when there are oncologists in South Dakota?

This is political hit job lawfare without teeth (no pun intended) timed for maximum effect.

In this particular case it’s a minor issue, she had cosmetic dentistry done which is great but to publicly endorse the Dentist and probably received compensation then I feel it’s better for politicians to stay out of potential conflict of interest situations because we all know it won’t stop with Dental endorsements

Too many politicians step in deep shi’ite because they TALK TOO MUCH.

State and support your state and federal policy positions and keep quiet.
