Several presidential hopefuls had a fourth presidential debate last night at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The debate was held on a site, NewsNation, which, despite hiring a high-profile newscaster like Megyn Kelly, many people hadn't heard of before the night. Notably absent for the fourth consecutive debate was former president Donald Trump. He's not wasting time on these debates, so why should everyone else?
The Republican primary field keeps pretending that Trump isn't there. Perhaps they're hoping Trump will fall from one of the indictments in the Biden administration's unprecedented harassment of their political opposition, cynically waiting in the wings to see if their position as runner-up will get them the nomination by fiat.
Unless something horrific like that happens, most Republican voters have been in lockstep with Trump for 2024. At the beginning of this cycle, Ron DeSantis had a small window of a chance because he stood up to Disney's woke agenda. However, DeSantis squandered his opportunity by attacking Trump too hard, which turned off Republican voters. According to FiveThirtyEight, his poll numbers sunk from 45% of the vote in January to a paltry 12% recently.
With every other presidential hopeful polling at numbers even lower than DeSantis, it appears that none of the field has any real shot at defeating Trump. The former president has no incentive to attend the debates because the best that could happen is that someone gets a zinger in at him, which causes some embarrassment.
The entire debate consisted of the candidates trying to one-up and humiliate one another, making for a spectacle the Democrats must laugh at as they watch highlights this morning.

A simple answer, so that political consultants and the media (and their advertisers) will have something to do and can charge/spend money on.
Poor Fox News - they really think they’re accomplishing something with these things too
SMH
Peggy Hubbard(radio) is calling them the VP try outs.
Deep state is gonna deep state. Think about why there would be a debate between someone running for president and someone who is not a declared candidate. YOUR VOTE DOES NOT COUNT!
Especially DeSantis. He already has a job. A job that he wouldn’t have if not for Trump. Talk about a back stabbing low life.
Zero democRAT debates.
Does anyone else find this odd?
We need a backup for Trump.
Zero democRAT debates.
......
Saving the money for the Presidential race later on. jmo
They seem to be great fuel to make the repoooblicans look really stupid.
Its doubtful there will even be A 2024 election. If it wasn’t for the MSM spouting it night and day likely most of the public would already have come to that conclusion.
Alternative media which now far surpasses the MSM in information and viewership has pretty much concluded that there is going to be an intervention prior to March 2024. The 2020 election is going to be dealt with before another election takes place. It has to be this way.
“Why Have Pointless Republican Debates When Trump Is Going to Win?”
~~~~~~~
It stands to reason that [their] last ditch plan is for there to be no Trump.
They are simply pre-positioning themselves for the feast on the Nation’s remains that they desperately prefer for the future, over the justice We The People are owed for the evil done to our Nation so far.
That was their plan from the get go, first ditch, 2nd ditch, last ditch.
They need to keep the $$$ flowing and they want the speaker fees after they drop out.
They think it is a VP try out, but I expect DJT to pick some non-POTUS candidate.
Easy answer...
the bush league chamber of commerce worshiping republiCAN’Ts are trying to stay relevent, even though they are toast.
Only million watched. The republiCAN’Ts have dropped that low.
Time to expel them from the party once and for all
I didn’t waste my time watching, but I saw some highlights on the Charlie Kirk show.
Except for Ramaswamy, I think they are being paid by their Trump-hating mega donors to show a united front against Trump - hoping to influence Trump supporters to give up on him as well.
They know they have no chance of winning and they know they have no shot at being picked for VP or a cabinet spot on a second term - so there’s only one reason to stay in the race - they are paid spoilers - trying to dilute enough Trump support to throw it to the Democrats.
I don’t think it’s working though - Trump support is actually on the rise.
The masks are off, it’s obvious to all but the most brainwashed that this is Tyranny vs Trump - or rather Tyranny vs We the People.
Anyone who voted for Trump in 2020 knows that ejection was stolen and that people protesting the stolen election are rotting in jail. And they know it’s dangerous to talk about what they know in public - so they’ve mostly clammed up.
The powers-to-be mistake this silence for waning support but it’s not. The battle lines are drawn now and nobody who voted for Trump in the past is going to vote for anyone else now.
You Want the Truth?☕️
Butler County, Pennsylvania, does NOT currently have a GOP chairman.
This area is crucial to Republicans winning PA & is responsible for 61,388 (2016) & 74,359 (2020) votes.
Do you know any Pennsylvania FReepers that would know anything about this? How to get the word out?
So, Butler won’t have a chairman going into the April 2024 presidential primary in a critical swing state.
The PAGOP won’t call a meeting. Butler Republicans tried to reorganize, but were shut down.
Did you know that local Republican leaders had to form their own PAC b/c of the lack of help?
In fact, the United Republicans of Butler County organized voter registration drives, as well as door knocking & GOTV events.
Despite no help from the party, Republicans won every countywide seat — even the contested District Attorney race.
We have had to work around the party b/c there is no direction or leadership.
