Big hitters on Wall Street are lining up to support Nikki Haley’s long-shot bid to snatch the 2024 Republican presidential nomination from Donald Trump.
“There’s a desperate, desperate hunt for anybody but Trump,” said one of the roughly 30 senior executives The Wall Street Journal spoke with to gauge the mood of the finance set roughly a year ahead of the election.
While Wall Street’s die-hard Democrats are sticking with President Biden, many other financiers have been casting about for an alternative to Trump, the former president they see as too unpredictable among other concerns. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s clash with Walt Disney and stilted public appearances hurt his standing, while Virginia Democrats’ statewide victories this month quashed the idea of Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (and former Carlyle Group co-CEO) jumping into the race.
Attention on Haley, a former South Carolina governor and Trump’s former U.N. ambassador, intensified after Sen. Tim Scott’s (R., S.C.) unexpected exit Sunday.

Nailed it!
I’m open to a GOP nominee other than Trump if he (DeSantis or Ramaswamy) can win the nomination fair and square and can show me that he will beat Biden in the general election. I’d also be happy with either as Trump’s VP nominee. But not Haley or Christie - absolute no on both. I will not turn out to cast a vote for either of them as the GOP presidential nominee, and if either of them somehow ended up as Trump’s VP nominee, I’m not sure that wouldn’t keep me at home too.
Haley’s got about as much chance as Pence, and he’s no longer running.
“There’s a desperate, desperate hunt for anybody but Trump,”
oh, is there?
I always check in with the pulse of Wall Street before deciding on who to vote for.
That's always been true, and no one cares. He has the independents, the unregistered and disaffected Ds. Trump changed the dynamic in 2016, and your wing of the Republican will soon be homeless.
The people hoping Haley beats Trump are people who don’t vote Republican in any case.
The bigger question is, is she somehow became the nominee, what would she DO if she won?
Would she finish the wall?
Fix NATO?
End the Ukraine war?
Decapitate the deep state? ( She IS the Deep State.
Nothing but disappointments from her GOPee lite ring true face.

That’s just it. Given your posting history I don’t trust you!
Well said A10!
Wall Street can go entertain itself.
Same here
I would never vote for Nikki Chumrabatta
You are correct that she’s not eligible. She was born to two citizens of a foreign country.
She will never get a vote from below the Mason=Dixon line.
Wall Street will benefit YUGE if Haley becomes president. It is greed and self-interest which motivates Wall Street.
Not as good as they would under Haley regime.
