There Is No GOP Civil War: The supposed schism in the Republican Party is a media fantasy, Trump Has Already Won.

In the film “Wag The Dog,” Robert De Niro plays a political fixer who produces a fake war to save a president from a scandal. In one seminal scene, William H. Macy plays a CIA operative who tells De Niro’s character that there is no war. But the fixer has an answer; he says of course there is a war, because he is watching it on TV. We find ourselves in a similar place on the supposed Republican civil war in the wake of the non-leftist Capitol riot.

Let’s be perfectly clear: there is no civil war in the GOP, no major schism, no two sides battling for control of the party of Lincoln. Poll after poll shows us that Republican voters overwhelmingly see Donald Trump as the leader of the party. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Rep. Liz Cheney’s hopes that voters would abandon Trump have been dashed on the cliffs of reality.

So why is the media pretending that some major battle for the future of the GOP has been joined? One reason is quite simply the desire to keep the profitable Trump story going. After spending five years addicted to easy bait and click stories, the media is loathe to give Trump up. Stories of him, Machiavelli-like, plotting and planning in the glam quarters of Mar a Lago are too tempting to resist.

The right sort have been mocking Republicans like House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Sen. Lindsay Graham for heading to Florida to kiss Trump’s ring. But why wouldn’t they? Trump’s populist, America First presidency was wildly popular among conservatives. His willingness to be the first Republican to fully engage the culture war also gave a new meaning and purpose for the party even in defeat.

Let’s look at what each side is offering and compare. The Trump wing, otherwise known as 90 percent of the GOP, is offering a laser focus on American jobs, a firm hand at the border, and a foreign policy that doesn’t kowtow to China and avoids new wars. Culturally it s a party willing to say that men cannot become women and that America is not a racist country.

The establishment side is offering what, exactly? Calm? Dignity? I don’t know, judges? Judges are great, and they are McConnell’s legacy. But by the time political and cultural issues go before the courts, conservatives have already lost; they are already on defense. What is McConnell’s vision for the Republican Party? What is Cheney’s? What do they want to achieve? Does anyone know?

As conservatives look at the country right now they see schools teaching their kids that America is bad place. They see corporations embracing racism that is eroding the very notion of a society of equals. They see big tech censoring not just opinions but actual news that could hinder the leftist march towards total power.

In short, conservative voters see an existential crisis. It’s a real one, not the political theater of troops and fences in Washington DC awaiting an insurrection that isn’t coming, but the fraying of the basic fabric of America. Voters don’t want to hear McConnell’s complaints about Trump’s behavior. They want to hear how a Republican Party that has been playing defense for 30 years will take the fight forward to restore basic American values.

For those in the media, and former conservatives left homeless by Trump’s success, the myth of this civil war is too much to resist. They are desperate to believe that any moment now GOP voters will come to their senses and reject Trump. It isn’t going to happen. They warn that losses in the suburban white vote will doom Republicans to permanent second place, but as the party becomes more diverse and working class it can afford to leave the Whole Foods set behind.

The Republican Party is Donald Trump’s party. It is today and it will be tomorrow. As the out of touch media drones on about establishment fossils trying to turn the clock back, rest assured they have no idea what they are talking about it. There is no civil war; it’s just a TV show. And we already know how it ends.

The Republican Party had until December 14th to save itself at the national level.

It did not.

There is no schism as long as the ash wipes get what they want.
Which has very little to do with the pwople or America as a constitutional republic.
And everything to do with a corrupt money/power grab.

The Code of Georgia §21-2-570 provides that “Any person who gives or receives, offers to give or receive, or participates in the giving or receiving of money or gifts for the purpose of registering as a voter, voting, or voting for a particular candidate in any primary or election shall be guilty of a felony.”

Grand and petit juries of Georgians should consider Jon Ossoff’s statement:

“’When you send me and Reverend Warnock to the senate, we will pass those two thousand dollar stimulus checks that the people need, that families need to stay on their feet and in their homes,’ Ossoff reiterated.”

https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/central-ny/news/2021/01/04/biden-ossoff-warnock-stimulus-georgia-senate

The acts of a politician handing a person $20 from the ‘machine’ treasury for a vote or handing the person $2,000 from the US Treasury three weeks later for a vote both deserve to be criminal offenses. If prosecutors don’t act to punish such acts, politicians buying votes will bankrupt the country and collapse the dollar.

The Republicans in Georgia governmnent can still empower Republicans to control the Senate and restore Mitch McConnell’s position.

Lol. Came back to the GOP to support Trump. Voted in a primary for 1and probably last time.

The GOP leadership can individually perform an anatomically impossible act upon themselves.

Certainly a real possibility.
Including the 3 SC Justices he appointed.
Mitch may have hoodwinked him on those
appointments.

There Is No GOP Civil War: The supposed schism in the Republican Party is a media fantasy, Trump Has Already Won.

The South continued fighting years after the North had already won the Civil War for all practical purposes, and caused a lot of damage in the process. I suspect the GOP establishment will try and do the same.

'Don't feel too bad. I'm in a state the that Trump carried by 18.5 points, and my vote doesn't count anymore either."

We've all been voided. I live in the 22nd Congressional District. Republican Claudia Tenney was just confirmed as the winner of the election about two weeks ago. I've been waiting until she got her Washington office, and phone number to call her. I spoke a short while ago to a young man in her office, and told him that as a constituent of the Congresswoman, I wanted her to know that I'm done with the GOP, changed my voter registration, and won't be voting ever again.

He asked me what caused me to feel that way, and I told him the fact that the majority of the Republicans in Congress voted to sanction unlimited voter fraud, and the fact that the GOP only knows you when they want something from you. Once they get it (money and your vote), they stab you in the back, and kick you in the teeth, and that I was tired of being abused by the party that didn't care about keeping my ballot safe. I also told him that there are a lot of other people in this country who feel the same way. He was polite, and listened patiently. I wished the Congresswoman well, and good luck with her next battle against voter fraud in less than two years. The only reason she was confirmed was because the Democrat Judge allowed signature verification on the review of rejected absentee ballots.

“Tell that to the swamp.”

There is much truth to this. The author ignores that the money in the GOP is still firmly in favor of open borders, free trade with China (from our side only), abortion, and non-engagement with the SJW’s. I have seen this repeatedly where I live where the GopSwamp has completely taken over the R caucus in the state legislature with enormous sums of money for two straight election cycles to keep conservatives out of the state legislature. Ironically, the leftist R’s (who hate Trump) attacked the conservatives as being Never Trump. With enough money, you can make ANY message stick.

If Trump can establish a large and regular money raising mechanism that persists, that will change the party. Barring that, there is an enormous fight coming. The Lincoln Project type R’s will not give up as long as they have massive amounts of money to spend.

“What do they want to achieve? Does anyone know?”

Yes. They want to achieve 1984. Everything points to it.

I honestly hope trump doesn’t run or try to dictate who the Republican Party nominates. He will be a massive distraction. We need to find younger and better candidates to run for office. And the young republicans I know aren’t too impressed with trump. Oh they like what he accomplished but they don’t think all the extra bs surrounding him is good for the party. I agree with that sentiment.
What people need to realize is why trump got elected and look yo support younger candidates with similar attitudes. It wasn’t about the man it was what he said he would do, what he said. Everybody else running just mouthed the same old washed political bs that worked in the past.
People need toSTOP re-electing the over the hill gang back to Congress. Threatening to not vote again just allows your opponent to run over you and say and do wgatever they choose.
You don’t vote then you have no right to complain how elections turn out. And NO I don’t want to hear about stolen elections, etc. it’s over...I’m working on backing candidates who fit the description above. You don’t want to vote fine....then stay out of the way of those of us who are pushing and organizing to effect change.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebec_sovereignty_movement

If Quebec could become independent so could Alberta.

Joe intends to strangle the oil industry of Alberta.

Alberta could become a refuge for our rich, causing the US federal government tax base to shrink massively.

Alberta will need to find new tax revenue.

That was also problem during the 2020 elections. Some state AGs or Secretarys of State were making changes to the voter laws that only the state legislatures were supposed to be able to make and they got away with it.

I wish this article took a slightly different perspective.

If you think of the mainstream GOP as controlled opposition, the MAGA faction, for lack of a better label, represents the party which now believes that with the right representation, can actually get stuff done.

The GOP + Democrats = The Establishment

The MAGA faction = Conservatives

We still only have two parties: The Establishment and whatever is left.

The Press is trying to maintain the illusion that GOP still represents conservatives. They are DESPERATE to maintain this because if Conservatives finally accept that the GOP is Controlled Opposition, then it really is all over.

The Bernie bots are also non-establishment. There’s a strong libertarian demographic and its represented by folks like Tim Pool.
