The vast majority of people don’t plan on watching NFL games if players kneel, according to a Twitter poll.
The first game of the 2020 season is Thursday night when the Chiefs and Texans play, and there’s a good chance we could see players kneel during the national anthem. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
I asked people in a Twitter poll if they’d tune out in the event of kneeling, and the results weren’t close at all.
Of the 4,850 voters, 86.7% voted that they would stop watching if players take a knee during the anthem.

Seems I saw something that the Chiefs & Texans are looking at staying in the locker room during the National Anthem.
Guess that would solve the issue.
I doubt if I’m ever coming back. Sundays have been pretty fun.

The issue of weak, incapable management aside, what is sad is that their white gridiron brothers are either not able to, or not interested in explaining the fallacy in their anti-American BLM thinking.

It’s time to just write off the NFL, NBA, etc. No boycotts - just take your money and your eyeballs elsewhere permanently and let it wither away.

I’s like to thank the woke Chief’s organization for teaching me that they are a waste of my precious time on this earth.

Yup. If the story was a Twitter "poll" showing 87% would vote for Biden, FR would be eviscerating it - and rightly so.
That’s not going to work for me. It’s rare for the National Anthem to be shown for most games on TV. Sometimes the playoffs and Stuper Bowl it’s featured, but most games start on TV right at the kickoff.
So if I hear that my team (sigh... the Texans) did not stand up for Americia, I’m not watching. I really could say I don’t want to watch because Goodell is still the rich leader of the NFL and he is to chicken to support the greatest country in the world to provide freedom and opportunity. Also you know we will get lectured to support BLM.
As someone posted earlier, where are the players who are standing up for America? I suspect they are being told to shut up by the league.
Another personal reason to boycott tonight, the Texans were up 24-0 over the Chiefs in the playoffs last year. Ended up losing by 10 points... and they promoted the coach to Coach/GM. Not hard to boycott when your team stinks.
Put me on that list. I will never watch another NFL game. They sold out to the racists and communists.
Just a lot of hard talk. So many people are desperate to watch sports, especially here at Free Republic, they will watch anyway. They’ll bitch about it, but never give it up. If interest were truly dropping, we would see sports topics dwindle, but I don’t see evidence of that.
86% is a big number. Players are definitely going to kneel or protest in some way so I guess either ratings will crater or people of full of BS. We’ll see.
If the ratings were good the NFL wouldn’t have been shelling out for makegoods.

I saw an FR thread yesterday about the upcoming NFL season. Pretty much every response I saw to it was along the lines of "I'm not watching" so we will have to see what actually happens.
I'm with you though. It is easy for us all to virtue signal but in order to make an impact, we have to follow that talk up with deeds and turn that TV off on Sunday afternoons.
I guarantee that if the NFL TV ratings are even 20% less than what they normally are, there will be sheer panic at NFL headquarters on Park Avenue, NYC.
Because their entire business growth model has been based on ever-increasing TV revenues. Once the networks start bidding 20-30% LESS for TV rights, the whole house of cards begins to come down.
Also the networks televising these games are going to start getting phone calls from their affiliates looking for credits and rebates on their declining advertising revenues.
The rapid cardboard fans in the stands will watch whether the players kneel or not.
Former fan here. Will probably never watch another game. If everyone on every team stands for the anthem and flag, I will rethink. Not until then. Have not missed watching the NFL anyway.
