WHITTIER, Calif. (KABC) -- Rival groups of demonstrators led to some tense moments in Whitter Tuesday night.
The event began as a pro-police rally, but a counter-demonstration group turned up as well.
There were some minor skirmishes and police took at least a few people into custody.
But the event was otherwise largely peaceful with a number of cars driving by with pro-police messages.

“Free Speech” — to the left — has always meant shouting down opposing viewpoints.
Opposing view points are forbidden. One Way Street sydrome.
At least the MSM changed the modifying adverb from mostly to largely.

I’m sorry to hijack your post ...but I couldn’t let the story below your linked story pass. How does this happen?
it those counter-protesters were, I’m sure, mostly peaceful... /s.
That close to Watts, you can bet the dim outrage machine was going to show up.

Not the first time thats happened.
“The EVENT” was entirely peaceful. The counter-protest was violent.
The story explains it. Guy left something in the house. Figured “How bad can this be, I’ll only be inside for a few minutes”. Goes in, overcome by fumes/lack of oxygen, collapses, and dies.
Hence, the signs put up at every entrance, saying do not enter, and pointing out that it will kill you.
My question: Was he found with a COVID mask on? because I could imagine someone thinking “Hey, this mask protects me from a virus, it certainly will protect me from a little bit of fumigation”.

Whittier is no where near in proximity to Watts. We are east of there by about 15 miles.
Wife and I were at the Whittier PD rally. Just as the car procession was to begin, BLM people blocked the streets. We wound up all following each other’s cars around blocks and up alleys to try and get back to an open street that would allow us to pass by Whittier PD HQ, where officers and a DJ was set up to receive our thanks.
We could not get to Washington Street, where the ‘festivities’ were set up. We got stuck in a stand-still on Painter past the court house on Mar Vista for about 20 minutes. At that point, we decided to head home.
Later, we watched on YT some vloggers video of the event and also video from ONSCENE VIDEO. ABC7 had their usual biased report. On camera, we saw BLM people blocking cars from proceeding. It took a while for Whittier PD to actually begin moving BLM out of the way.
The BLM people have been camped out in front of Whittier PD for a month. I actually stopped by and talked with some of them last week. They presented me with their concerns about how all cops are bad. They also complained about the lack of free resources for this, that and the other things in their lives.
I said to them that I have a different viewpoint and that wife and I have LEO in the family and in Whittier PD and disagreed that all cops are not bad, but that there are some people who should not be given a badge and a firearm.
I said to them that it breaks my heart to no end how some people just do not avail themselves of the vast opportunities and the education that abounds, to see that some people are still working minimum wage into their elder years.
It was a peaceful conversation, but bottom line, these BLM people are lost, anti-American young 20-year-olds.

When I lived in San Diego that is how far we went just to get gas and groceries.
You want "no where near" try Yuma to Phoenix.
