Serra was active in the Spanish Inquisition and later led the first team of Spanish missionaries to California in 1769, which contributed to the killing and enslavement of thousands of native people and stripped many more of their cultural identity.

What cultural identity? They were living in the Stone Age. The only monument they left behind were piles of abalone shells

Although the Inquisition existed in New Spain, I recall reading that they never put to death any “natives” for heresy. The same would have applied even more so in California where the natives were backward compared to those in Mexico.

The mission was established in 1771 but they moved to the present location, several miles away, in 1776. Over the years there was damage because of neglect (after secularization) and earthquakes so I don’t know the actual age of the roof. But it doesn’t date to 1771.

It’s kind of odd that they would mention that...unless they suspect it was a revenge arson?

Paris loses Notre Dame, Los Angeles loses San Gabriel.

If neither city wants Christianity any longer, then it won’t be forced on them...

Yup. Brick-throwing, murders, looters, and arsonists are referred to as “protesters.” Even the geniuses at FOX have vocabulary disabilities.

Note—they will call it an “Accident” least it cause Latino’s take the law into their own hands and start beating up Communist Statue Crashers. Via Christos Rey! Liberals see the burned Mission and say— “One Down, Twenty to Go!” I hope it is re-built and the statues replaced.
