Bottom line, Ignore Michelle - the Dems aren’t stupid enough to run her. But yes, beware of skunk cabbage...she’s not going away easily.
I’m still holding my theory that no Democrat actually wants the nomination.
Running FOR the nomination is fun & profitable.
They get a year or two of national notoriety, a good salary, subsequent speaking gigs & book deals, lots of profitable connections, adoring fans, influence national debate, and then - after a dramatic exit - move on to the next job & project.
Running AS the nominee will be ... horrible.
Burn thru the better part of a billion dollars, race all over the country for months, try to convince the right part of some 130,000,000 voters (Electoral College ya know), get expertly & publicly dismantled by Trump, run on a platform of “everything is pretty darned good, so let’s overturn all of it on a risky utopian fantasy”, and assuredly losing all but the most Leftist of states (maybe even Minnesota).
Then having to live with that. I don’t recall Mondale being subsequently memorable for anything beyond winning Minnesota.
Those currently & recently contending are mostly nobodies, having no hope beyond a profitable run as a foil for the 4-5 real contenders ... who in turn seem more interested in going thru the motions than actually winning.
Hillary won’t jump in. She can barely walk.
Michelle won’t jump in. She’s not a politician, and has too much baggage.
Those who really could have a shot at winning ... aren’t showing. They know a losing situation, instead biding their time for 2024, when Pence presumably won’t be a meaningful contender and, however good things may be, enough will be tired of Trump to consider a strong Democrat for a sequel.
All the Left can do is keep hounding Trump.
