No matter where you turn, the news is filled with embarrassing stuff about President Trump. The CIA whistleblower complaint about his conduct on a call with Ukraine’s president has turned into a full-court impeachment scandal.
But through all of this, Trump’s approval rating is at its highest level of the year according to the Hill-HarrisX survey, and the other major polls taken since this Ukraine phone call whistleblower story emerged show few changes from the last surveys taken before the news broke.
How is this possible?
Anyone still asking that question simply hasn’t come to terms with why Donald Trump won the 2016 election in the first place. In short, Trump was elected to be the ultimate disruptor and to play that disruptive role as much as possible. “Drain the swamp” wasn’t just a campaign slogan, but a visceral feeling against establishment Washington in every way. Millions of Americans who voted for Trump and still support him chose him precisely because he is nasty, breaks the rules, and shows little respect for the political establishment at every level.

Trump won on the basis his policies. As long as he works towards stemming the flood of illegals, and pulling us out of foreign wars he will be reelected.
To the extent these polls are accurate (which I don’t is true), there is perhaps another factor at work. Between the endless attacks, Mueller, and now this impeachment threat, I can’t imagine there are many people who haven’t made up their mind about Trump, or who are going to be influenced to change their mind. But I think there has always been a “silent Trump supporter” who doesn’t say so out loud, maybe to preserve domestic/work/friend tranquility - but who voted for him and will again. Maybe all these attacks and attempts to undo and negate that vote have finally pushed these silent supporters to become committed, and they are not answering poll questions truthfully.
The 9-11 attacks brought out the patriotism in many people and it could be that endless unwarranted attacks on or duly-elected President is doing the same thing. Especially when everyone knows the election is less that a year away, and the way we choose Presidents is at the ballot box.
The polls are basically revealing that people have not bought into the discussion carried by CNN, the NY Times, the Post, the networks, or liberal media. Maybe those in the beltway believe it, but once you get into areas like Kansas or Iowa, or non-urban areas of Florida...it’s a joke.
I would suggest this too....that any of the past five Republican Presidents (including Reagan) would have been in serious jeopardy. Trump avoids the media and goes right back to Twitter for direct communications. Even Fox has limited value now in his messaging. Once the internet came up with the Twitter idea...they opened up a massive mess which can’t be contained now.

It's exactly the opposite. Trump is for law and order. He doesn't break the rules. We've had 3 years of investigation that can't find any rule breaking.
But Trump is law and order. And he is enforcing the immigration laws that have been ignored by multiple presidents.
Trump's respect for America and American political institutions is huge. Trump is extremely pro-American. And he has long railed against the lack of protective tariffs, and squandering our wealth, and selling us out.
Trump is anti-corruption. He is draining the swamp. He's exposing corruption.

Touching on understanding around the edges. They will never really get it until they realize who they are. They are the utterly corrupt enemy of a free people. An enemy that will do anything because, to them, the end justifies the means.
Trump Impeachment poll numbers are just plain old Fake News hogwash. I really cannot blame the professional pollsters, for they, like the Media, are in bed sleeping with the Democrat Party. Thus...anyone, sane, objective, balanced voter does not trust any of them, and when queried by the pollsters, either do not talk with them or they give them a false reading.
The Drudge Report on-line poll gave POTUS, Trump 96% of its votes....but... I believe the real Trump approval numbers are in the 60-70% range of folks (voters) who do not want Trump impeached!!! I come to that conclusion because the only real measure we have of the Trump support numbers come from the cash donated to the Candidates from small donors,...and Trump is literally “slaughtering” all Democrats with massive multi-million dollar donations....which just keep rolling in record numbers.
My reasoning for such...plain & simple: “MONEY TALKS....ALL ELSE WALKS”!!! Trumpie has just about all the money...with more pouring in everyday!!! Democrats have zilch...cash!!!

My dad was one of those during the Reagan years.
A lifelong democrat he had voted for Carter.
I didn’t talk politics with my family because the couldn’t understand NOT voting democrat and I couldn’t understand not voting Republican.
After Reagan beat Carter my dad and I were working on some equipment, must have been in March, my dad looked at me and said “don’t tell anyone but I voted for Reagan.”
I was dumbfounded. Shocked.
In 1984 I was walking into the polling station as he was walking out, He just looked at me and winked.
