The Rasmussen Survey has two recent polls that shed early light on how voters see President Trump and the Democratic presidential candidates in relation to their own views. A poll of likely voters released today found that:
just 25% of Likely U.S. Voters consider most of the announced candidates for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination to be about the same as they are in political terms. Fifty-four percent (54%) say most of these candidates are more liberal than they are, while only 13% think they are more conservative.
The survey also asked, Would it be more accurate to describe the agenda of most of the Democratic presidential hopefuls as mainstream or extreme? Not being a subscriber, I cant see the numbers here, but the publicly available summary of the poll says:
Voters see most of the Democratic presidential candidates as more liberal than they are and rate their agenda as outside the mainstream.

The Democrat Party despises.ordinary Americans
Let's look at the Rat logic that they are selling the public..EVERY Rat candidate is selling THIS----->
"We need open borders, enough is enough. Anyone who wants to come to the USA should be able to without any freakin' visa or green card. Americans have had it too easy for too long, job competition needs to be much much higher and housing costs like rent needs to triple even quadruple. Why should the USA have it so easy when so many other countries are suffering, we need a couple 100 million more people moving here"
I have the feeling that by the end of the DIMocRATS primary season that whomever that the DNC finally decides to nominate at the Convention, that the FAR LEFT DIMocRATS’ nominee won’t be able to win more than about 100 Electoral Votes.
Frankly, I do NOT foresee ANY of the current 24 DIMs being able to legitimately or even BELIEVABLY, “run to the center” in the Fall of 2020.
(Their FAR LEFT supporters will NOT stand/pay for that old General Election tactic.)

Interesting. That aligns with an article today that said 26% of voters consider themselves "liberal."
Let's hope this is an excellent omen. I just cannot see much of America agreeing with the crap those communists were spouting off.
It is hard to see how they could move to the center after all the open borders & communist crap they spouted off. It was a race to the far left cliff for all of them.
Democrats can’t run to the center, because that is where President Trump is. Even though he has conservative accomplishments, most of his accomplishments are actually pretty centrist and have wide support. It is the overreaction from the democrats at everything he does that makes him seem more conservative, but also pushes the democrats far to the left.
I obviously don’t want them to, but the Democrats are REALLY dumb if they can’t figure out what do to here. Dumber than the Republicans, even.
Still a very. Long. Way. To go.
A safe headline.
In light of the fact that the dems have gone full out Mao.
Last election, a lot of the pundits complained that Bernie forced Hillary left during the primaries and that made it harder for her to pivot to the center. You are correct, that the new left will revolt if they see the anointed candidate try to back off on any of their current promises.
Weird part is the media didn't love Bernie, and boosted Hillary. Now, their stars are Cortez and Omar. They're driving the dialog.
This also indicates how much Trump has changed politics. Prior to last election, the press just assumed politicians were saying what they needed to say to get elected, then doing whatever their handlers wanted them to do. Trump never changed, and Democrats are now demanding that from their candidates.
I’m sorry. I’m still suffering from POSD (Post Obama Stress Syndrome).
I can’t believe he won a second term.
I won’t stop taking my meds until Trump wins the 2020 election and is inaugurated.
If things keep going this way there will be no strong and clear front runner by the time the National Convention starts.
This is by design. These nut cases are simply stalking horses for whoever it is that is going to emerge very late in the nomination process. They are wannabes who have nothing to lose and who would like to build name recognition and a national presence to start a strong political future and make a ton of money in campaign donations
By the time the convention rolls around, Democrats will be desperate for a sane, mature Presidential candidate who can beat Donald Trump. A brokered candidate will emerge at the convention untainted by the mud slinging of the primaries and touting a carefully focus group tested platform that appeals to as many moderates as possible without alienating the Democrats rabidly insane activist base to the point they wont turn out to vote.
That much is clear.
What is not clear is whether the winner to be waiting in the wings will be named Clinton, Obama or some less well known name
If McCain or Romney had won, there would never have been another Republican president. Those guys would have destroyed the party. Bush came close. His brother didn't even use the name "Bush" in his campaign materials. It was Jeb! I can't think of any other candidate that has hidden their last name. The sad truth is we didn't have a choice after Reagan left the stage, and if the ousted Republicans had gotten their way, it would have been Bush vs Clinton again.
Before Trump came down the escalator, I got physically sick thinking about that possibility.
Democrats are NOT dumb. They have a plan.
They can’t win this election, and they know it.
They are being extreme ON PURPOSE.
They are playing the Long Game: They are trying to mainstream their extremism:
Years down the road, “open borders”, “medicaid for all”, “socialism” will seem be considered “normal”.
30 years ago, what did most Americans think about “gay marriage, transgender bathrooms, and reparations?”
What WAS laughably extreme is now being debated as real issues.
ImVho, all three of you are 100% CORRECT.
The 2020 race is already IRRETRIEVABLY LOST for the DIMocRATS Party. = I believe that it makes NO difference which LEFTIST MORON that the DP finally nominates.
Just my opinion, TMN78247
Back in the early nineties, liberals were
in such ill repute, liberalism was the L word.
‘Progressive’ seems to mean liberal, only more
so. I call ‘em all leftists.
While it’s POSSIBLE that some “more or less less CRAZY” nominee MIGHT be nominated by the DIMs, I find that eventuality to be UNREALISTIC. = This is NOT the 19th or 20th Centuries, when a “brokered convention” could select a “more or less moderate” for the General Election & WIN.
For starters, the people “who are driving the DP train” are what you correctly describe as “insanely radical”. = The so-called, “Modern Democratic Party” is NOT the party of 1960-2008.
Instead the DP is a FAR LEFT (some would say: Communist.) & VERY ANGRY coven of disparate minorities.
In the event that the “party pros” & SUPERDELEGATES tried that stunt, the rioting in the streets & likely UPON the Convention floor would make the 1968 Chicago Convention look decorous.
