Youve got a historically unpopular opponent in the White House, but there are nearly a dozen ways you could still blow this.
To: All Democratic candidates
As you prepare for your first debates later this week, some unsolicited thoughts on what you could do to blow this election. With 20 of you clamoring for attention over two nights, the opportunities are abundant for you to kick off the primary season with an easy win for the president.
This might seem impossible. Donald Trump remains historically unpopular because the past three years have cemented the publics image of the president as a deeply dishonest, erratic, narcissistic, Twitter-addicted bully. As a result, a stunning 57 percent of voters say they will definitely not vote to reelect him next year and he trails Democratic challengers in key states. Trump himself seems to have given up on swing voters, instead focusing on ginning up turnout among his hard-core base. But, as columnist Henry Olsen points out, this is unlikely to be successful because millions of reluctant Trump voters from 2016 have already shown a willingness to bail on him by voting for Democrats in last Novembers midterms.
Even so, Trump could still win reelection, because he has one essential dynamic working in his favor: You. Trumps numbers are unmovable, but yours are not. He doesnt need to win this thing; he needs for you to lose it. There are millions of swing voters who regard Trump as an abomination but might vote for him again if they think you are scarier, more extreme, dangerous, or just annoyingly out of touch....

Well, I’ve ready plenty of stupid commentaries lately, but this one has got to be near the top of the list.
Idiot false stats on popularity used by an idiot from pollutionco.

Yeah Right. Start off with a stupid lie like this. And the Rats will believe anything that follows.
It isn’t so bad once you realize he is talking to Politico’s audience— the far left. But I don’t think they are going to listen anyway.
...the president as a deeply dishonest, erratic, narcissistic, muslim-addicted bully.
Politico is a couple of years late.
You have to accept the premise of historically unpopular before going any further. The piece amounts to nothing more than a trite attempt for the writer to be able to say he predicted the outcome.
Never heard of the guy, had to look him up. Apparently a Bill Kristol/Romney type “conservative.”
His premise reflects the feelings of the Trump hating echo chamber, where shallow thinking and fake news shape the narrative.
I seriously doubt if any rat will heed the advice of a “conservative” albeit a traitorous one.
Sykes is the biggest never-Trumper on the right by far who still claims to be a Republican
Sykes is that bozo from WI who worked overtime trying to defeat Trump in the WI primaries. When Cruz won, Sykes strutted around and crowed about how he had defeated Trump. He also worked to defeat Trump in the general election as well. I didn’t see him crowing about those results.
This dirtbag doesn’t deserve the clicks.
Exactly! Trump is right now more popular than Obama was at this point in Obama’s first term.
The election is Donald Trump’s to win...or lose.
Period.
The first 2 paragraphs did me in. No slant here.
When you get past all the Bullshiite about how most the country hates Trump, it’s actually a pretty good read.
Starts off with a lie, Trump is not unpopular.
Charles Sykes? In high school we would have referred to him as having s**t for brains.
I know I’m a teen but if President Trump is so unpopular, why did he get 100,000+ people at an Orlando rally?
“I know Im a teen but if President Trump is so unpopular, why did he get 100,000+ people at an Orlando rally?”
If you say that to a leftwad, stay alert for a sucker punch.
i’ve never seen so many lies in one article ...
