President Trump's recent stonewalling tactics, aimed at blocking Congress' ability to follow up on the allegations detailed in the Mueller report, are rooted in the belief that he can run out the clock on the Democrats in the House through the 2020 election. Nonetheless, it's a strategy fraught with peril, and if the President begins to see a significant erosion in his approval numbers from Americans tired of the endless standoff, he might need to reach deep into his bag of tricks to reset the national narrative.
There is one move that could prove to be a complete game changer: naming Nikki Haley, the former UN ambassador and South Carolina governor, as his running mate in 2020. News of a Trump-Haley ticket would be a master stroke that would upend the 2020 election and could send Democrats into a complete tailspin.
Bucking tradition for the heck of it is a hallmark of this presidency, but if Trump were to part ways with Mike Pence it would be nothing more than raw political calculus: in one move, Trump would make history by selecting a woman of color with a deep political resumé and foreign policy gravitas -- making it the most diverse ticket in the history of the GOP.
Adding Haley to the ticket would not only strengthen his position in key defensive battleground states, but possibly put several states that Hillary Clinton carried in 2016 back in play for the GOP. By tapping Haley as his running mate, the President could deliver the ultimate coup de grâce to Democrats' hopes of retaking the White House in 2020.

Considering that CNN’s motto is “Anti-Trump, all the time,” does anyone seriously think even ONE CNN reporter or news anchor would vote for Trump, if Nikki Haley were on the ticket? They didn’t seem to like Haley when she was at the UN.

For those unaware, the war ended about 150 years ago. It's sufficient for the flag to be in a museum and SC history can be remembered for as many years as you want.
I really don't think taking the flag down means she has no understanding of SC history. Perhaps it is better stated she thought the tradition of flying the flag of the Lost Cause was no longer in the best interest of the state. That is what she was paid to do.
But be a big person and understand that things change and sensibilities change. The South and particularly SC is not nearly as isolated and insulated as it used to be. I know of a quite hardened liberal and her husband who moved to SC just three months ago and I assume will vote democrat in her new state from now on. In fact, they are pouring into the Charleston and Greenville areas as fast as you can count. Things never stay the same, even in the South, a century and a half after The War Between the States.

George H.W. Bush was loyal to Reagan for eight years. As soon as he became POTUS he replaced the Reaganites in the administration and bureaucracy with tradition establishment Republicans and gave us:
1) Tax increase after promising in the campaign “No new taxes”.
2) One sided “free trade” policies (NAFTA, WTO) that gutted US manufacturing
3) David Souter on the Supreme Court
4) HIs DOJ chose not to indict John McCain and the other members of the Keating five for influence peddling.
5) Open borders. Failed to secure the southern border. Immigration Act of 1990 allowing 700 thousand aliens in the US each year.
6) High deficit spending. National debt increased 54% despite the tax increase during the first year of his term.
7) War - Panama, Desert Storm, troops to Somalia
8) Semi automatic rifle ban
9) Savings & Loan bailout - $166 billion federal tax money
10) Americas with Disabilities Act
11) Civil Rights Act of 1991 makes lawsuits against employers easier.
12) 1991 Earth Summit - signs the Framework Convention on Climate Change
13) A pathetic reelection campaign in 1992 which he lost to Bill Clinton
Pence, like George H.W. Bush from 1981-1988, is another establishment politician quietly biding his time. However, Haley is an extreme opportunist. Neither, if elected or appointed president, will fight for a conservative agenda.
Nikki Haley is a loser. No appeal “down south”.
