Jeb Bush took a cheap shot at president Donald Trumps family by saying that after he (Jeb) lost the 2016 South Carolina GOP primary, he returned home to children who actually love me, reports the Yale Daily News. This is yet another example of the Bush Dynasty not exactly covering itself in glory since Trump blew out Jeb Bush in the 2016 Republican presidential primary.
Ironically, after attacking Trumps family, the Yale Daily News notes that Jeb called for more polite political discourse, citing William Buckley Jr.s 50 style of rhetoric. Bush recalled watching Buckleys famous television program, Firing Line, and admiring Buckleys respect for the opposition, his wit and his hopeful optimism.
Overall, Jebs talk was critical of the effect Trump has had on the Republican Party, how the president has shifted the Party away from Bushs view of what conservatism should be. Bush called Trump a Republican in basically name only and said If there was ever need for a Bill Buckley-like approach, to transforming conservatism in this country, it is right now....

Do Jeb’s kids love him unconditionally, or only when he stands on tippy-toes?
Or only when he’s doling out guacamole bowls?
has shifted the Party away from Bushs view of what conservatism should be.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bush League Republicans view is that conservatism should be about abandoning the rule of law and allowing the country to be colonized by Mexico.
The true test is if his kids will clap for him
Fixed it.
The establishment types are like jealous sorority girls.
This is an old story.
i was going to say...is this a repeat or is jeb just this stupid?? (could be both)
A low energy jab by low energy Jeb.
My favorite washed-up politicians are the ones who realize it’s over and quietly fade into some useful role in private life. What ever happened to Dan Quayle? How about Michael Dukakis? I don’t know if he still makes the news in Massachusetts, but the last thing I read about him was a piece about how he likes to collect turkey carcasses from family and friends during the holidays and makes soups out of them. Guys like that I can respect.
Re: Buckley. It would be great if we could have the kind of civilized discourse we had in Buckley’s day. There were ladies and gentlemen on both sides then. But if Buckley were around today, he might be moved more often to want to sock someone in the face, as he did with Gore Vidal.
What a stupid thing for Jebbie to say.
Hasn’t the pocket-turtle-grabbing weak sister moved to mehico as yet with his mexican wife? What a weakling in all respects. Dweeb.
What a creepy man.
Attention career politicians and Swamp dwellers: You have revealed yourselves as pure, unadulterated garbage. When ordinary citizens walk up to you and spit in your faces, do not blame Trump, blame yourselves.
Guess the Jebster never saw the debate between Buckley and Gore Vidal, where he {justifiably} called Vidal a faggot.
I cant believe he summoned up enough of his “Low Energy” to insult our beloved president!
Bush was not conservative. And Buckley would be alarmed to have the likes of Romney, and the Bushes in his tent.
I pray you are better. We need you around, not just at FR, for a long time to come.
There was a lot of blow-back from President Trump's children when Jebby said this.
Everybody please clap for the Clintons’ best friends.
