Posted on 07/19/2017 5:46:54 AM PDT by JLAGRAYFOX

Totally useless, "Never Trumper:, Republican Senate Leader, Mitch McConnell should call for a Senate vote today to eliminate the "Sixty Vote" rule in the Senate. Simple, folks...Fifty One votes makes for a majority. End of story!!!

Let's see if this weak sister of a back stabbing, lie telling, Republican leader has any spine or loyalty to his party, country and the American people.

McConnell pass that law ...NOW, or resign this afternoon...you complete failure and Trump traitor to boot!!! You could lead your way out of a cardboard box.

Irrelevant for the past few days since the GOP couldn’t even muster 50 votes.

Be careful what you ask for.

There will come a time when the electorate puts the other wing of the Uniparty back in power.

I'm for keeping the super majority rule. Congress does enough damage as it is.

As for repealing Obamacare, I think it would be better anyway to let it cause chaos. Trump should appoint Ezikiel Emanual, or some other such Ocare advocate, as Ocare Czar and tell him he wants him to make it work as smoothly as possible with no changes to the existing law. He could even advocate that Czar get $200 mil a year to allocate to smooth out bumps. Trump should NOT appear to be in favor of chaos. It will happen of its own accord.

The fifty vote problem was caused by “Never Trump” Leader, McConnell who has zero ability to lead his way to the bathroom. Do you really believe for one second that Democrat, House leader, Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, ex, Senate Minority leader Harry Reid would have ever stood by a member that did not vote as the leadership directed.

All them would have cut that person off from any funds, give them the worst committee assignments possible and banish them from the heart of the caucus.

Just in case, you have forgotten what leader means, when chosen...they lead the pack. And....the pack follows the leadership orders in military or political venues!!! The Democrats know that, the Republicans, do not have a clue, SAD. End of story!!!

Not going to happen. The Uniparty likes to hide behind it. Gives them cover for their fecklessness.

Might I remind you that this old USA Republic lived by the fifty-one vote rule for almost two hundred years.

It still has a 51-vote rule for final votes on legislation.

The “60-vote” rule applies to ending filibuster on measures, and the filibuster has been around since 1837.

You on right on...but, the 60 vote margin stops a bill from getting to a final vote. But....to be honest, with what ails the US Congress is much more critical then a 60 vote rule. I could list them all herein, but...at the end of the day, I believe the way to correct our failed Congress is to enact “TERM LIMITS”....12 years for Senators & 8 years for House member. Simple...1-2-3.

lol. When they can start passing things with 50 votes then come talk to us. The GOP in the Senate is weak. Embarrassing and unworkable. The Senate has done nothing except put 1 Supreme Court Judge on the court.......there are tons of judge nominations waiting for confirmation and the GOP is allowing the Democrats to obstruct them. GOP Senate is weak and has been for decades.

I agree with you. both of our major political parties have failed. The Senate and the House to some degree is loaded with do nothings, bloated, old men and women “relics”, who have long forgotten what being a representative of the people in a free Republic means.

For goodness sake, some of these Senators and House members stroll around the congress halls like slow moving Zombies.

IMHO...both major political parties need to be replaced with fresh blood, who see their job a serving the people through the USA constitution. How to get there...simple, enact term limits...today!!! Hate to say this, but our once great country is dying by its own hand.

I can assure you, your kids and grandkids will not like the America that is forthcoming, the America Of “1984” & “Animal Farm” a gift from the over-the-hill, Socialist/Communist Democrats and their brothers in cahoots, the Republican establishment.

As our one and only hope, POTUS, Trump says...”gotta clean out the infected and poisoned swamp”!!! Anything less, and the land of the free & home of the brave is done, forever!!!
SAD.

The super majority requirement and filibuster made eminent sense when Senators were representatives of the States and looking after States’ interests. That has not been the case for a century. Senators are no more now than another House of Representatives with longer terms. The States as States have no representatives in the Central Government. Repeal the 17th Amendment. That would be distasteful to sitting Senators but perhaps it could be done with provision that a Senator remains in his seat until the end of his term or until the end of his incumbency. Such a gradual repeal would work painfully slowly but it would work and be easier to pass.

That is the perfect lead in for this:

And when the RATS retake the Senate, they’ll ram through any legislation they want by whatever means necessary. Any rules in place are for their benefit whether they’re in the majority or the minority, and subject to change as it suits them.
