Sanders: ‘I give Donald Trump his due’
The Hill ^ | January 9, 2017 | Cyra Master

During a CNN town hall style interview Monday night, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) was challenged to compliment Donald Trump.

Sanders was asked a variety of questions, including from a student at George Washington University who noted that Sanders has called the president-elect a pathological liar and asked, “in an effort to inspire a cohesive front,” if Sanders could name Trump’s “strongest attribute.”

“You think I should say something good about him now?” Sanders asked with a smile.

“That’s not a hard question for me to answer,” he added.

“Trump took on the Republican establishment, he took on the Democratic establishment, took on the media establishment and he ended up winning the election to become president of the United States. And that is an extraordinary accomplishment. And it talks about perseverance, it talks about very strong political instincts, it talks about a way to connect with people.”

“So I give Donald Trump his due,” he added.

Careful Bernie. What the DNC gives they may also take back. Like your new summer cottage and jet.

Kudos to Bernie. He’s apparently more of a man than dozens of RINO Establishment and so-called conservative pundits.

I’d say he gave a very true and respectful answer.

I’ve always liked Bernie. He was genuine, not a chameleon. I did not support him though.

I believe he means that compliment. Bernie was the only honest (mostly) politician running this year.

(Trump was not a politician.)

I may disagree with nearly everything Bernie believes in, but I give him credit for integrity (other than bending over at the end, but I do not doubt that he and/or his family was threatened with deadly harm by the Clinton/DNC machine, and he had to cave).

... and they all know this. The repeated, stupid claims such as those parroted on the Golden Globes are the equivalent of monkeys flinging poo, because they're agitated, because they can and because they hope it might have some effect in taking Trump down. No deeper motivation than that.

Bernie can afford to be magnanimous. The electoral war is over for now, and it wasn’t him that lost.

Sanders also speaks his mind - - without having to call a focus group to tell him what to say...

Let`s face it. Trump is a winner. As the sucesses start to pile up, even his harshest critics will have to start acknowledging that simple reality or risk loosing any credability they might still have.
