Donald Trump met with Sen. Ted Cruz on Capitol Hill Thursday -- the first meeting between the two former bitter campaign rivals since Cruz suspended his presidential campaign.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus was also in the meeting, according to sources. This was Trump's second trip to Capitol Hill in two months.
With less than two weeks before the Republican National Convention commences in Cleveland, Trump is looking to shore up support with the GOP's rank-and-file even as he faces backlash from members of his party. Some Republicans who are facing a tough re-election battle have chosen to skip the convention while others declined to meet with Trump this morning....

HL, you can come out now :-) Really surprised that Cruz found the balz to sit and talk with DJT. He’d best think about what the future will hold should he decide to go down another path. In essence, he is throwing his darling daughters under the wide Clinton bus; there with all the generations of future AMERICAN citizens.

Did Cruz want to meet in a closet like with Gentle Ben?

2018 will be here shortly, and Trump’s money will back what he told Flake. I’m glad to see Trump is not backing down. These particular senators will have knives out for Trump no matter what. If he makes clear that there will be consequences, they may just keep their mouths shut this election which would be the best possible outcome.

According to the rules, since they went public, Trump can and will replace them at the convention.

Right. Less support from fewer people will ensure victory.
History proves this to be true. Have you tried Haldol yet?

Don Trump is 70 years old. You’re saying that he’ll serve until he’s almost 79?

Cruz needs money. Trump is a money raising powerhouse.
Trump owns Cruz.

I'll give you Trump's reply to that....Scr** you. No speech for you!!Trump is too smart for that. Mr. "Art of the Deal" sees the value of trading 30 minutes at the convention for Ted's millions of votes.

That may be the case. The VP needs to be loyal and a strong advocate and capable of taking over in a dire situation. I guess there are many. My favorites are NEWT and Giuliani.

Whomever he runs with, I'm voting for Donald Trump. I'm sure his choice of running mate will come as something of a surprise to all of us, and for various reasons.

Little nothingburger Teddy is NOT an "adult", shall hopefully be primaried and beaten when he is up for re-election, and NEVER heard from again!
Teddy anywhere even near D.C., in ANY position, is terribl,e for this nation!
To: Sacajaweau
The people who understand the rules better than you and I do say different. Burying the hatchet with Cruz can only bring benefits. There is no downside. I'd prefer a united convention focused on defeating the most corrupt and criminal American politician in modern history rather than pulling each other's hair like so many on this thread choose to do.
The media hope for the latter as that will be the theme of their reporting for the entire election. I'm sure that would be just fine for you, but those if us who want to win will look at it otherwise.

Trump/Cruz 2016 I have been saying it since they both got in the race.
I really doubt that would happen. The two men can't stand each other. They don't respect each other. They don't trust each other. There is no way they could ever work together.
To: nopardons
Well, you are shouting, sport. Hope that made you feel better.

No it isn’t and you and the rest of the Cruzites need to get over your idol with feet of clay up to his receeding hairline!
