New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is being vetted by Donald Trump's campaign as a possible vice presidential running mate, according to reports.
The New York Times and other media sources are reporting the campaign has sent official paperwork to Christie to start the vetting process. The reports are one of the first solid indications of who Trump, a businessman-turned-politician, might want on his ticket.
Other names that have been mentioned include Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and South Dakota Sen. John Thune. Other names including former Trump's former challengers Marco Rubio, John Kasich and Ted Cruz were also on the reported short list....

The Naval Observatory will capsize....
That’s not so great, Al.
NOoooo!!!!
He may be “vetting” him, but he’s not picking him. If the media has info on who it is, you can bet its NOT that person. Trump would not let this sensitive of an issue leak, unless he is purposely leaking false info to keep the press chasing their tails.
I disbelieve.
Terrible!!!!
Great way to turn off conservatives! That video of Christie hugging Obama to get money to recover from Hurricane Sadie will never be forgotten!
Oy...just NO!
I’ve always liked Mike Pence, but admittedly don’t know a lot about him. Thoughts?
NO! No, no, no! Don’t do it.
Nooo...didn’t he just raise gas taxes?
Has the VP position rule now require the candidate be a clown?
Whomever it is....as long as it doesn't take away a Repub senate seat. Have to be careful. If we lose the Senate...we've lost it all.
Christie doesn't bring anything to the table in terms of key battleground states, demographic groups, etc.
On the other hand, Christie has always had one thing that Republicans on a national level value greatly: he is a tremendous fundraiser and very well-connected.
Yuck!
I really don’t have a problem with him....but don’t think he’s got the qualifications that Trump wants.
Madness ...
Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates who come from an area 75 miles apart kind of leaves out the rest of the country. Cristy as VP is a very bad idea.
It should be someone from the South or West.
He just raised taxes. Drop him from VP.
