Ted Cruz's campaign manager, Jeff Roe, comments on what Trump can do at the Republican Convention to unite the party: Give Ted Cruz a prominent role.
JEFF ROE: I would be remiss if I didn't point out that without data, without online fund raising, they kicked my butt anyway. That's on top of us raising $93 million, which was a record (at the time) for Republican primaries, getting eight million votes.
Mr. Trump has a way to control the news cycle. I believe they will be able to put it together, but they have to get going now. The time -- it boils down to data and analytics and ground really equates to about a point and a half, 2.5, 3.5, points depending on how the Democrats are doing it. And the Democrats are doing it well, because they --the Clintons-- have won so many campaigns within the margin of error.
That typically means that the ground game made the difference. I think they [the Trump campaign] have time.
The RNC has done a good job ramping up. It's a generic model. They will need to make it Trump specific. But if you look at the polls the last few days, after what has been six and a half weeks of pretty tough stuff for the Trump people, he's still in margin error or up in places where he needs to be. In fact he's doing better than you would anticipate him doing in places like Pennsylvania and others.
I think there's time to catch up. They do have to get going very quickly...

Conservatives have waited a long time for a person who fits the profile that Cruz created for himself (but which is far from the actual person of Cruz). When you believe such a person has finally come along, it’s hard to let go of that dream/ideal. At some point, you’d think the facts would prove to be overwhelming. So far, in some cases, the facts have been ignored.
Day late and dollar short. “Me too” Ted is still following in Trump’s wake, but yet fragging him every chance he can on stabby’s radio show.
Wrong, Oswald was already dead by the time Rafael Cruz moved to New Orleans. You might want to learn the basic facts at least before tossing out these declarations and making yourself look like an idiot.
It wasn’t the same day, the photos had been out for weeks already.
He pledged to support the nominee. There is no nominee yet, so what are you rambling on about?
FRiend, Thanks so much for the snark, but had you actually read the article, you would see, I certainly am not rambling on, it was the article information and Cruz quotes.
I provided an article to show Cruz not feeling bound by pledge, not ruling out resurrecting his campaign and said it is not a choice that needed to be made right then, etc...
Once again, here is the article and relevant paragraphs...
Ted Cruz refused to commit his support to Donald Trump as the Republican nominee on Tuesday, and did not rule out resurrecting his campaign for president despite having dropped out of the race last week.
In an interview with conservative talk show host Glenn Beck, the Texas senator said that picking a presidential candidate is not a choice that we as voters have to make today.
His comments came as Marco Rubio, the Florida senator who suspended his own presidential bid in March, said he would support Trump as the nominee.
During an interview with CNN on Tuesday, Rubio said he intended to stick to a pledge signed by all of the Republican candidates last year to back the eventual nominee.
I signed a pledge, put my name on it, and said I would support the Republican nominee and thats what I intend to do, Rubio said.
Cruz appeared less bound by the pledge, which has already been discarded by former contenders Jeb Bush and Lindsey Graham both of whom have come out against Trump despite his all but clinching the Republican nomination.
Cruz pointed out there were still two months until the Republican National Convention in Cleveland and six months until the general election, saying we need to watch and see what the candidates say and do.
He will support the nominee if it is Cruz!
Well I guess I saw them the same day Trump mentioned the story, maybe because I looked then.
Didn’t say how great Cruz was. Trump is the nominee, I support Trump. I didn’t see the article where Cruz is in Utah behind closed doors with Romney. Please link the article.
The comment about the convention was in two months is what we are saying... There is no nominee yet. Your other point is based on Cruz not answering questions. Wait till there is a nominee then see what Cruz does.
What part of “there is no nominee until after the convention” don’t you understand?
You can’t honor a pledge to support the nominee until there actually is a nominee. Otherwise, you’re just supporting a candidate, not a nominee.
Sorry, but I have not heard the following very simple sentence:
IF TRUMP IS THE NOMINEE, I WILL SUPPORT HIM.**
(In fact, as I stated, what I have heard Cruz say comes much closer to being the opposite.)
**That simple sentence is what I would have liked to have heard, and that sentence would have been supportive of the anti-GOPe position of the millions who voted for Trump.
IMHO Cruz is not supporting the man the people have chosen in hopes Trump will not be the nominee—in which case it will be a RINO GOPe candidate—something I thought Cruz was supposed to be totally against.
I guess being that it is very likely that you are or were Cruz supporters, we will never see eye to eye on this.
In years past a candidate that won with as many votes/delegates as Trump would have been treated as the nominee. This cycle is different because the runner-up is an Adult Child of Alcoholics. As such, he defines reality by what he says. I.e.: if in his mind Trump has not well exceeded the number of delegates he needs, and the nominating process is still wide open, then that is reality.
Not surprisingly, his most hardcore followers accept Cruz’ reality. Who needs votes and delegates to be the nominee? All that is required is convention maneuvering and, voila! It’s as if the people never voted.
Instead of ‘people,’ I should have said, ‘little people.’ In Cruz’ world the ‘little people’ count for nothing. It’s what he wants that counts. If by some political machination Cruz were to wrest the nomination from Trump, then it would be the job of the little people to support Cruz. Or should I say, it would be our ‘privilege’ to support Cruz.
Being told year after year (by Rafael Sr) that you’re “a king,” will do that to a person. The king does whatever he wishes to do; the subjects fall in line.
I don’t have a link - just got it from someone who lives in Utah - it was on the local news there.
I would like to hear that sentence too.... At or soon after the convention.
There have been many other elections where everyone didn’t hug and kiss before the convention. Insults won’t make that happen this year.

Cruz has been thoroughly discredited and exposed for the Globalist “conservative fake” he is; there is little point in bringing all this up again, when a quick FR search will lead the reader to the refuting documentation.
IMO, if DJT were naive enough to select Cruz, we’d see JFK-LBJ and RR-GHWB replays very quickly. DJT is much too street smart to fall for Globalist Trap 3.0.
BTW, I really enjoyed listening to Donald Trump’s longtime and TRUSTED friend of 40 years, Roger Stone, being interviewed about the Cruz-Oswald connection. Roger shared how when he interviewed Judith Vary Baker, Oswald’s girlfriend (1961-1963), Judith revealed Cruz Sr worked with Oswald, they hung out together, and she and Oswald even had a nickname for Cruz Sr= “Raffie”.
If Donald trusts Roger, so do I. Eyewitness Judith Baker would know facts better than anyone.
IMO, there is so much more that still needs to be exposed, but since the trail was getting way too hot, Poppy pulled the plug on Cruz, Jr.’s active campaigning....and VOILA! The story magically disappeared.
Where’s the proof? Where’s the proof, the operatives shout?
Give me a break.
I thought we were done having to endure these political operatives continuing to post support and hope for their “savior”, Mr. Cruz. All it serves to do is to distract us from focusing on beating HRC and the Globalists.
Cruz talk is going backwards. These kinds of threads are flame bait, and I hope they’re pulled.
I would like to ask a question.
One of our FReepers, WVKayaker, is very ill, and in need of a life-saving operation, but has no way to fund it.
He was supposed to go to the doctor on Wednesday, and promised to post an update afterwards. But, he hasn’t posted here at FR since June 18 and he hasn’t posted any updates to his gofundme page as of today.
https://www.gofundme.com/ov0vc
My question is:
Is there an ongoing FR Prayer Thread that is always open, where I could post a prayer request for him?
Thanks.
It’s not an insult to describe Cruz as an Adult Child of Alcoholics. It’s a fact.
You just did, all of us FReepers pray for people on here and their friends and families all the time...and I will ad your friend to my church prayer list...
