Presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump offered a welcome to Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders's supporters in a speech delivered a day after The Associated Press reported Hillary Clinton clinched the Democratic presidential nod.
"To all those Bernie Sanders voters who have been left out in the cold by a rigged system of superdelegates, we welcome you with open arms," Trump said during his speech, which struck an uncharacteristically conciliatory tone after high tensions from within his own party this week.
Trump has often channeled Sanders as a kindred spirit, arguing that both were being kept down by a "rigged system" and applauding his stance on trade. On Tuesday, he equated Clinton with an unfair process.
"We can't fix a rigged system by relying on, and I mean this so strongly, on the very people who rigged it," he added, bashing Clinton and her "corrupt dealings."
"The Clintons have turned the politics of personal enrichment into an art form for themselves," he said.
The speech, one of his few scripted talks, comes hours after Trump was forced to issue a clarification to mounting criticism over his controversial attacks on a federal judge. Trump has said the judge shouldn't be allowed to preside over his Trump University fraud case because of a conflict of interest based on the judge's Mexican heritage.

I think it IS necessary and productive - Trump is pointing out one example of the many many judges we have who are not at all impartial - standing only on the laws as they should do, and likely ruling based in part on feelings or associations they have.
I have been a luke warm Trumpist since Rand dropped out. Honestly his speech tonight was one of the best I have heard in years. Gave me a lot of hope for his presidency.
The way I see it, the only misstep was to use the word "Mexican" which gave the MSM and a lot of others an excuse to ignore the La Raza connections and sentimentality. I guess we're so used to rolling over and letting a biased "Justice System" abuse us that we cringe when we see someone willing to stand up for themselves.
The funny part is that Judge wouldn’t survive in a jury pool to even hear this case. His political connections would have him dismissed. The defense attorneys would boot him in a heart beat.

Of course he’s right. If you’re watching closely, there is a clear pattern to the way Trump manipulates the media.
He makes an inflammatory statement that leaves a key supporting piece of information out. The media goes nuts. He and his surrogates start talking about the supporting piece of missing information while the media goes into full outrage mode. Trump wins. It’s happened like 10 times already.
Trump is getting ahead of this Trump University case, which he KNOWS is going to be drawn out for political reasons and used as a tool against him. Instead of letting THEM control when they drag it out and make it a problem, he’s taking the hit NOW instead of later when it will really matter.
Now, if he wins the case, that’s great. If he loses, it’s because of this racist judge being against him and the wall he’s going to build. Any mileage they could have gotten out of it is blunted and it might even become a positive for him.
This isn’t brain surgery. Trump has taken a major problem and turned it into a win at best or a minor bump at worst.
He needed to say “Mexican” to get everyone talking and to specifically lead everyone to the La Raza connection.
He is using the media ‘outrage machine’ against itself. In order to do that, he needs to make an ‘outrageous’ statement and let them run wild with it. Then, he swoops in with the evidence that supports it. He takes a short term hit for a long term gain.
Yep - he and his lawyers vetted the judge out and found good reason why he should recuse himself. The MSM and others need to ignore facts and spread false memes to try to leverage what he said to fit what they wish he had said and meant - it's why so many have failed to make anything stick -- the lies fall apart and they end up looking like ....liars.

I’m all for Trump’s strategy if it works. I’ve just never seen any campaigner like him before, charging forcefully, repeatedly into all the ‘guardrails’ of acceptable behavior from a GOP. It takes some getting used to. Even from those of us who support most of Trump’s platform.
I am of the mind that even (heaven forbid) if Trump loses this election, we, the GOP have learned some invaluable lessons on how to succeed. The baton will be passed onto someone else. At one time, I thought the Sourcerer’s Apprentice was going to be Ted Cruz. Now, I kind of doubt it, unless Ted can ‘get his mind right’ before the convention.

Melania, although it's unlikely she would have tried to make a go of it with a working-class guy, strikes me as a woman who, on realizing she was financially secure with her husband whom she obviously loves, admires, knows and respects, has settled into her good fortune by reaffirming a kind of born-again virtuousness. She is a hands-on mom and gets by without nannies.
Even Donald has said she has not taken advantage of the situation disproportionally with clothes, shoes, etc. I notice she frequently wears the same outfits. She seems not to have forgotten that modeling was her ticket out of communist privation, just like the high school football champion or aspiring ghetto boxer allows his body to be slammed around for a period of time to get up and out. I have to hand it to her. I think she will be a very tasteful and classy First Lady, but also like her husband with a heart for the working person.
