Wake up Ted, it's time to make the phone call to Trump
Fox News ^ | March 16, 2016 | Wayne Allyn Root

What's that famous saying? "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." It's time for Ted Cruz to wake up and make the phone call that changes history, changes the GOP, changes the course of America.

It's time to face reality. Donald Trump will be the 2016 GOP presidential nominee. Only Trump has a path to the nomination. Ted Cruz is delusional if he thinks he can win the nomination...or deserves to win the nomination.

He was shut out on Tuesday night. Shut out as in zero, zilch, zip, nada. It was Trump 4, Kasich 1, Cruz 0, Rubio cut from the team.

Cruz can't be the nominee. We're deep into the GOP presidential race on a key Super Tuesday and he can't even win one state. The nomination winner can't be 0 for 5 on a Super Tuesday. That's not a man on the way to becoming leader of the free world.

Kasich can't be the nominee. He just won his first state out of 27. He's 1 win, 26 losses in the GOP race. And the one win was a "homer." The sitting Governor of Ohio just won his own state. My guess is very few sitting Governors have ever lost their home state. So please don't get any delusions of grandeur John! No GOP power broker is stupid enough to award the presidential nomination to a guy who is 1 win, 26 loses. That would be the death of the Republican Party.....

Well said. I’ve argued many of the same points, but the school teachers and clerks around here who haven’t run a business or taken an accounting class are clueless. They love lawyers and professional politicians who live in limited sight silos. They are blind to the realities of the world of competition in free market capitalism.

Kasich personifies what is wrong with the GOPe. The GOPe is basically as corrupt as the DemonicRat party. It is all about power, prestiges and money.

The difference between Mitch McConnell and Hillary is far far less then the difference between Mitch McConnell and the Conservative movement.

The conservative Tea Party put Mitch and Bitch or perhaps it should be Bitch and Mitch (aka Paul Ryan and McConnell) into their positions of leadership. Both have done everything in their power to stop the philosophy and will of the Tea Party. They are not our friends. If the Dems win or the GOPe wins they will have their positions of power, prestige and great monetary benefits.

The DEMS and the GOPe are both the enemy.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. it is it’s natural manure.

One more thing: if the situation were reversed, and Trump was in Cruz' position, and Cruz in Trump's, I would be switching allegiance to Cruz, and urging Trump's followers to do the same. This is despite the fact that I believe Trump to be the superior candidate (I don't really like him, but I am looking at the bigger picture). What is important, now, at this juncture, is to deal a fatal blow to the Republican establishment. That potential blow trumps, no pun intended, policy positions or any particular issue. If Cruz was showing widespread geographical support, if Cruz was showing widespread demographically and ideologically diverse support, if Cruz was scaring the living daylights out of all segments of the DC establishment -- than I would say that Trump was being incredibly selfish staying in past the point where Cruz would win easily, without him in the race.

But the situation is not reversed. It is Cruz who should drop out. Soon.

North Mariana Islands. And that actually qualified him for 8 states/territories with a majority of delegates rule. No other candidate has done that yet.

The Cruzbots have swallowed the line, “principled conservative.” It’s actually a very tired cliche. A principled conservative doesn’t’ keep Glenn Beck around. A principled conservative doesn’t hook up with the Bush family. A principled conservative doesn’t stomp on a person’s 1st Amendment rights to back up BLM rioters. A principled conservative doesn’t show up at a rally where Kevin, what’s his name, is preaching about killing gays. A principled conservative doesn’t take $2,000 from the Federal Reserve Bank or allow Goldman Sachs to bankroll his candidacy. So, get over your high falutin, delusional ideas about Mr. Booger being a principled conservative. It just ain’t so.

True. Because Trump peaked last August. His fifteen minutes of fame flamed out. He’s toast. Stick a fork in him.

"(unless the party decides that Cruz would be a satisfactory compromise between "not Trump" and overt election theft)."

There's the rub. Cruz is absolutely convinced of two things. One, that by virtue of having made it to the Senate he's insider enough for the GOPe to get behind him and two, that he is destined to be President this time around.

Yeah, I looked at the images for the place. Don’t tell anybody but it looks like Hawaii before it got so GD commercial. I am researching what a vacation there might cost. It is 56% Asian and hugely Republican. If it was not for the cesium from Fukishima and that disaster still going on I might be looking at retiring there. Northern Mariana Islands.

So both of those site agree that the number of delegates available lower than 1000. And in both cases, the number of available pledged delegates is 855. So Trump needs 564 out of 855 to be sure of a first ballot win, or 66% of the remaining delegates. If Kasich and Cruz get to 300 combined, Trump cannot get to 1237.

None of that hair-splitting matters.

If Donald Trump leads in delegates going into the convention but does not end up as the nominee, then he'll simply go independent, and the GOP "second choice" nominee will have no chance of winning the general election.

And I'd totally support that decision by Trump if the GOPe tries to pull any shenanigans.

This revolution is not going to be short-circuited by a bunch of cigar-smoking "kingmakers" in some back-room at the RNC. Those days are gone. There's too much anger for such silliness to succeed. And that's a good thing.

I think that Trump will get to 1237 anyway, but even if he doesn't, Trump and Cruz combined will probably arrive at the convention with 80% or so of the delegates between them.

Even if no candidate has a majority, the Presidential nominee will be the one (of those two) who comes in with the most delegates, and the VP nominee will likely be the other one.

If he leads in delegates, there's no way that Donald Trump is going to let Cruz be on the ticket above him, and there's no way that someone other than Trump or Cruz will be the nominee.

Why? Because it would be absolute political suicide for the GOPe to do anything other than choose the delegate leader. If the GOPe pulls some stunt that subverts the voters, and results in putting Hillary in the White House, then the party will disintegrate under the weight of its own tone-deaf corruption. And I'll be dancing on its grave.

Newt Gingrich is right: these wet dreams where the Establishment and their dupes fantasize about stealing the nomination from the delegate leader (or the second place candidate) are, practically speaking, ludicrous, especially when someone like Donald Trump can immediately begin an independent run, and fund it himself.

Wake up and look at reality, people!

I guess we're firmly into the bargaining phase of Establishment (and ted Cruz supporter) grief...

I hear what you are saying, but I don’t think VP is even a suitable spot for Cruz. A deal wouldn’t have to include the VP slot. Frankly, he not geographically desireable as V P.

Cruz could deal for any number of positions that could serve as a launching pad for a future career on the Court or for another run at the Presidency.

And what happens at an open convention? The GOPe steals the nomination from the guy who has been the front-runner since July, won 19 out of 27 states, amassed the most delegates and votes, and increased primary turnout to record levels.

Trump will have a minimum of 1100 delegates, and still has a path to 1,237. Trying to stop him to get to an open convention is a Pyrrhic victory. It will destroy the GOP and guarantee a Dem victory. Neither Cruz nor Kasich can amass enough delegates to beat Trump or even come close. The gap is going to widen with AZ, NJ, NY, WV, CT, PA, and CA. It is time to cut this off and coalesce behind Trump.

Cruz could win an open convention, but not in a good way. The establishment may be wary of being too overt in their actions, and be willing to tolerate a Cruz candidacy, in order to avoid Trump. They may also push for their own candidate, whether it is Kasich, or even someone outside of any currently running candidate, but there are risks associated with those kind of shenanigans which are both highly visible, and also lead to such an obviously undemocratic result.

But if they do select Cruz (and if it is an open convention, it is their selection, or, at least, a process that they can significantly influence), it is inevitable that the GOP will do everything they can to hamstring Cruz in the general election, and get Hillary! in there.

Actually, a pragmatist. Trump is the only one who sees reality. Where have these other morons been with sanctuary cities, illegal immigration, Obama's executive actions on immigration, allowing the EPA to implement pieces of a bill that failed Congress.

Trump brings up these issues and all of a sudden these morons like Rubio, Cruz, Kasich, Paul, and the governors have an opinion. Before that.... Nothing.
