Here's what Republicans would need to do to stop their own front-runner--and what they'd destroy if they failed.
It wasn't so long ago that the political universe was licking its collective chops over the prospect of a contested Republican convention, a delegate fight that went all the way to July without a nominee. Now, with Donald Trump notching his most decisive primary win yet--and looking to pick off several more on Super Tuesday--we're hearing that the contest will be over by the Ides of March. That means Trump could walk away with a nomination that almost no traditional Republicans ever wanted to see happen.
What could stop him? So far, his opponents have barely made a dent in The Donald. There's a good chance the race will be over unless the Republican Party establishment and its conservative core do something that neither party has ever done: gather the forces, pool their money, and train all their collective firepower against their own front-runner....

What a weird day
Newfound love that Christie has balls and stands by his pal while the GOPe drops all their ordnance on his position
And Cruz who I used to think walked on water endorses Mr Amnesty
Cruz is tottering on epic fail now
Interesting....that you would use a German term to describe the media exposing Trump....since he, himself, is of German (and Scottish) heritage. And since he, himself, has been a proponent and friend, as a liberal, of that leftist media up until around 2011 ....coincidentally when he decided to run for president as a Republican. Hmmm....
It’s a revolution at last- and Donald is heading it.
What’s interesting to me is having the first presidential candidate (that I can think of) that has the right AND left attacking him. It only raises his stature. It’s Rocky theme song time.
“The Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, for example, could well have ended with nuclear war, but for President John F. Kennedys repeated insistence on taking the most cautious of steps, always leaving him and his Soviet counterpart room to maneuver.”
Interesting example. In my psych class the Cuban Missile Crisis was a CASE STUDY in how a person, when presented with MASSIVE EVIDENCE would simply IGNORE IT ALL, as the Russian made absolutely no effort to hide their missile sites, and were designing them EXACTLY as they did back home. We had U2 flights hourly over Cuba, we had thousands of pictures. This could have been stopped LONG BEFORE Defcon whatever it was.
But no...instead the Kennedy myth prevails.
After reading this article it sounds more like a FIRECRACKER Option...these GOPe types would make TOTAL FOOLS of themselves and for them, they’d have a NICE BIG TARGET on their backs for when Trump takes office.
“Trump is a religion to some on this site....so very sad.”
No, he’s a MESSAGE.
What is sad is that TOP ISSUE for Republican VOTERS in this campaign is IMMIGRATION.
There were 17 candidates running - 15 were CLEARLY for OPEN BORDERS, one (Cruz) was hard to figure out, but now seems on our side, and ONLY ONE, Trump, has been clear from the outset of the Primary Season that he is on our side...and he is the one MOST REVILED by OUR PARTY.
That is sad - a party that REFUSES TO SUPPORT the people it needs votes from.
The Dems don’t have that problem - do you see them debating abortion positions, gun control, centralized education, centralized health care - NOPE! - they all line up with their voters, on each of those issues. The only differences are in the details.
“But this infantile nonsense of calling Cruz an establishment guy, after he became a pariah in the Senate, is patently ridiculous.”
Actually Cruz ASKED FOR IT, by essentially endorsing Rubio. Before that, at worst, we figured he was being used by the Establishment to take Trump down (after all, no one else has a prayer of doing that).
He really shouldn’t have done that Rubio thing, and if he apologizes (to us, not Trump), I’ll side with you and tell us Trumpers to cool it regarding ‘establishment’ links for Cruz, because you are right.
Cruz supporters consider everything that Trump has said and done since he was a child to be fair game, but yet they consider Cruz's deep involvement with the Bush II administration and his wife's deep involvement with Goldman-Sachs to be irrelevant.
Yes, that's a good way to exemplify "hypocrisy".
Cruz is just about the only senator in 100 years that has walked in as a freshman and immediately taken on the leadership...and seal his records before running for president. What’s in the records that he doesn’t want us to see?
So, in other words: Comit collective suicide? If they think the electorate is pissed now.....
Well, we don’t call them the stupid party for nothing.
Cruz has two choices if he drops out. Immediately endorse Trump or by default the Washington Cartel
I love the smell of fear in the morning.
I love the smell of fear in the morning.
Not that there's anything wrong with that....
Not that there's anything wrong with that....
Stupid beyond belief.bthe fact that these MORONS eight months later STILL don’t get Trumo’s appeal is clear evidence of why no one in office today should be president. Either too dumb or too stupid.
