Progressives angry about the extensive amount of free, sympathetic coverage Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gets on Fox News may have found an unlikely ally in former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
During Monday's episode of Fox & Friends, Gingrich took the hosts to task for giving Trump a massive platform to spread his views -- likely referring to the network's wall-to-wall coverage of his campaign as well as Fox & Friends' regularly scheduled Monday segments featuring Trump as a pundit, which ran from 2011 to 2015.
"This time the billionaire is spending the least amount of money and running away with this thing," co-host Brian Kilmeade said, according to Media Matters. It's going to make people... "
"Well, but that's because of you guys," Gingrich interjected....

Does he realize that if Trump wasn’t in this race we most likely would have had Marco Amnestyo as the nominee? And you know how he would have done against Hitlery? She would have kicked his ass all up and down the country from coast to coast like the programmable boy bot he is and we would have POTUS Hitlery Clinton on Jan. 20th 2017 and a new era of hell and evil unleashed upon the earth

I supported Gingrich strongly in 2012. I will never forget the sad, sickened and horrified feeling as I watched him fold like a cheap suit in the debate just before the Florida primary. Mitt chewed him up and spit him out.

I think you hit the nail on the head. You have to give Trump credit for know how to promote himself in the media.
I agree. Newt used to be the biggest, baddest conservative in the wild west, until The Donald showed up. Newt is thinking:”Calista would NEVER allow me to say things like that, without threatening to leave me alone and broke!”

I saw that interview and it didnt seem like a slam to me, more of an observation by Newt.....and actually an admiration of Trump’s strategy.
Anderson Cooper made an interesting statement tonight about all of Trump’s media appearances when David Axelrod made a similar statement that all Trump had to do was phone up the media to get interviews. Cooper pointed out that these candidates are constantly being invited to appear for interviews, but many won’t, whereas Trump pretty much ALWAYS accepts invitations for interviews.
Fox and Friends is the only "fair and balanced" show on Fox these days. Happening Now and Outnumbered are OK.

Of course he benefited, but so does everyone who appears on these shows. Take someone like like Mary Katherine Ham or Jesse Watters who were not known before they became regulars on FNC. If one of them decided to get into politics in the future, they clearly would have much higher name recognition than they would otherwise because of their exposure on Fox.
For Fox and Friends to even doubt this is pretty shallow, and Newt simply reminded them of the obvious.

An interview by Chris Wallace was pretty crappy too. You could see how bad Wallace’s hair coloring was.
