Why Donald Trump's vicious attack on George W. Bush was so brutally effective — and brilliant
The Week ^ | February 14, 2016 Th | James Poulos

The World Trade Center came down during the reign of George Bush, Trump growled. He kept us safe? That is not safe. Technically true, but, as is so often the case with Trump, the details came second to theme, and the theme went far beyond 9/11 or the gasps and boos Trumps comments brought. Trump slapped W on Iraq, too. The war in Iraq was a big, fat mistake. They lied, he said of Dubyas administration. They said there were weapons of mass destruction. There were none found.

Trump is saying that, under George W. Bush, the Republican Party allowed its understanding of politics to be corrupted. For whatever reason, under Bush, the GOP became a party that let self-aware rhetorical posturing dictate the way policy was formulated. The result was failure across the board. Worst of all was the ensuing failure of memory as Republicans forgot the winning arts and sciences. In so doing, they enabled America to lose its way in the hall of mirrors — and lose its greatness.

This is a dagger to the heart of the Bush legacy.

I also supported the Bush Doctrine and the invasion of Iraq

But in his second term, when Bush remained silent and closeted, refusing to respond or defend himself and his policies and let our troops be ripped to shreds by ied’s while the partisan democrats did everything they could to lose the war- I lost all respect for him

His meekness and silence fed the anger that gave us ....Obama

so what is GWB’s legacy besides thousands of American troops dead or maimed and trillions spent on a failed doctrine and capitulation to democrat treason in setting a sure path to bankrupting our economy?

Barack Obama- the incompetent and questionably eligible potus. Our intel agencies could have sorted out that man’s background before he was nominated had Bush set them to it, but no, he was too noble to expose the black man as the scam he is

The ultimate betrayal

who his doofus brother Jeb is already mealy mouthing

“Iraq was not a mistake.”

Then show us...HOW was it a success? Hussien had NOTHING to do with 9/11. Taking him out destabilized the entire middle East and that is a fact! Obama didn’t help, but you can’t put this one on him.

PP should separate itself from abortion branch, rest of PP is good. I know lot my friends have used it for non abortion purposes. They provide free or low cost services.

I was a support of fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here. I still support that concept.

In my opinion, the failure was not Bush's; there WERE 17 UN sanctions being violated, and the Democrats supported the Iraq engagement. People can debate whether the intelligence Bush presented was credible best-available data or a believable lie, but that doesn't explain the majority of the 17 UN resolutions that were used as justification.

The failure was in not staying to secure the region, which is all on Obama. Given that we're still in Germany after 70 years, and still in South Korea after 60 years, why did we so quickly pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan while the region was so unstable? The answer is that Obama's loyalties are not with America's issues. A destabilized Middle East allowed Obama's team, the Muslim Brotherhood to fill the void.

George Bush did not topple Mubarak in Egypt, nor Ghaddafy in Lybia, nor Assad in Syria. That was all Obama's meddling to lay the foundation for the emergence of the Muslim Brotherhood. And then they turned on him.

~So, why did we attack?~

Don’t you remember, THE OIL.

...or so said the left.

It’s hysterical that Trump says he would “take the oil” in the face of the left.

Code Pink missed that part.

“Something happened between Bush, Cheney, and Collin Powell during this whole Iraq thing!!! If you all remember it was Collin Powell who stood on front of congress with the films of the trucks moving all around with supposed WMD’s !!!! I would LOVE to know what happened there Powell completely changed after this Iraq deal!!!!”

Powell insisted that the Bush Admin. lied to him.

Colin Powell ‘was lied to and used by George Bush to add credibility to invasion of Iraq’

Kuwait was about international law and international order

It was about not allowing sovereign nations to be unilaterally invaded and forcibly claimed

That is a red line and not just in Kuwait

If Saddam was allowed to invade Kuwait over territory claims and unilaterally change Iraq's borders, then where in the balance of international order does it stop?

No one, and I mean no one, had a clue what to do once that was accomplished.

Not true. Many people I know said we should just leave, and let the Iraqis solve the problem of Saddam's replacement.

They would have promptly acquired another strong man dictator to run that nation. The difference being, he would not mess with us anymore, nor would he mess with any of our interests.

But nobody in charge knew what to do, I'll grant you that.

The head of Planned Parenthood LIED recently before the US Congress when she testified that her abortion organization gives mammograms.

THEY DON’T.

Planned Parenthood CEO Caught Making False Mammogram Claim

https://liveaction.org/planned-parenthood-false-mammogram-claims/

A series of undercover phone calls reveals that contrary to the claims of Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards and other supporters of the nation’s largest abortion chain, the organization does not provide mammograms for women.

In the tapes, a Live Action actor calls 30 Planned Parenthood clinics in 27 different states, inquiring about mammograms at Planned Parenthood. Every Planned Parenthood, without exception, tells her she will have to go elsewhere for a mammogram, and many clinics admit that no Planned Parenthood clinics provide this breast cancer screening procedure. “We don’t provide those services whatsoever,” admits a staffer at Planned Parenthood of Arizona. Planned Parenthood’s Comprehensive Health Center clinic in Overland Park, KS explains to the caller, “We actually don’t have a, um, mammogram machine, at our clinics.”

Opponents of defunding Planned Parenthood have argued in Congress and elsewhere that the organization provides many vital health care services other than abortion, such as mammograms. Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards recently appeared on The Joy Behar Show to oppose the Pence Amendment to end Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer subsidies, claiming, “If this bill ever becomes law, millions of women in this country are gonna lose their healthcare access-not to abortion services-to basic family planning, you know, mammograms.”

Former Planned Parenthood Director Abby Johnson notes that the recordings demonstrate Planned Parenthood is not a comprehensive health care provider. “For so long Planned Parenthood has touted that they are a provider of mammogram services. This is just one of the lies that Planned Parenthood uses to draw people into their clinics. Planned Parenthood is not able to provide quality services on their own, so they are forced to lie to the public about services they don’t provide-and mammograms are just one of those services.”

Mammosham 2015: Planned Parenthood fact-checks Planned Parenthood
Before Congress in September, 2015, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards admitted that the abortion business has never provided mammograms, despite popular opinion and previous claims by Planned Parenthood. The myth, spearheaded by Ms. Richards, has been told again and again by Planned Parenthood’s supporters—even by President Obama.

During Richards’ congressional testimony, she was forced to admit that Planned Parenthood does not provide mammogram services, but she also claimed that she never made the statement.

In time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Live Action released a new video fact-checking the statements of abortion advocates, including President Obama and Ms. Richards herself.

Looking at it now NO WAY should we have gone in, however I believe Obama deliberately left Iraq to sabotage Bush admin.. In doing so destabilized the entire area!!!! We should have stayed in Iraq, we are still in South Korea, Germany, Japan so why not leave forces there to stabilize the area????

I agree with your assessment. We as Americans like to parrot the idea everyone deserves freedom. Well, there are vast differences around the world as to what freedom means. Islam is more than a religion. It is their everything. It dictates every facuet of their being.

So my question becomes does everyone deserve freedom? Or do they only deserve the freedom they, themselves are willing to shed their own blood for?

Colin Powell had realms of intelligence analysts working directly for him - at multiple agencies

Colin Powell had to personally review and approve or dissent on every NIE (national intelligence estimate) produced by his analysts and every other agency analysts as a collaborative report

In those reports they could not dot an “i” or cross a “t’ if he disagreed with it, and his disagreement would have been highlighted

So don't buy that the po' noble black General got hoodwinked by the Bushies and Cheney

If he and is staff couldn't figure out the intelligence was bogus (if it even was) then he is dumber than a bag of hammers

No, what has destabilized the Midldle East has been the liberals and MSM talking points at the beginning, during and after the war. Day in and day out brutalizing of GWB completely hampered all efforts to win easy and early. The death blow to the Middle East was Barack Obama, probably for the simple reason that no Republician administration could ever be allowed to win anything.

more likely he was Cheney’s choice and Bush agreed

Remember Powell was CJCS when Cheney was SecDef and Bush was pitching baseballs in Texas

You cannot simply go into a country, break it, then walk away and say, ‘Hey guys, you’re on your own.’ Imagine if we’d done that in Germany in 1945, the Red Army would have swept all through Europe.
