The anybody-but-Cruz-or-Trump move is coming soon
The Hill ^ | February 12, 2016 | Brent Budowsky

Get ready for major Republican officials and large donors to begin a campaign to unite behind an alternative to presidential candidates Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) and put intense pressure on two of the leading center-right candidates to drop out of the race before the Super Tuesday GOP voting.

Today, the GOP establishment is in total disarray. There is a fair chance that the two top candidates in the South Carolina primary will turn out to be Cruz and Trump battling for first and second place with the center-right alternatives coming in distant third, fourth and fifth places because they are dividing the anti-Cruz and anti-Trump vote.

Democrats, who feel a growing unease about the Democratic contest, are ecstatic that Republicans might nominate Cruz or Trump, both of whom are viewed by Democrats -- correctly, in my view -- as unelectable. Most Republican leaders and many of the largest Republican donors feel exactly the same way, and fear great peril if the GOP nominates Trump or Cruz....

I really don’t know how the Democrats can think of Donald Trump as un-electable.

_______________________________________________________

Well Trumpie loves to tout polls as you know so here is the poll result that has the rats salivating:

At this point (two-week average through Jan. 27), 33% of Americans view Trump favorably and 60% unfavorably. It’s that 60% unfavorable figure that I can focus on here.

Hillary Clinton currently has a 52% unfavorable rating among all Americans, while Jeb Bush is at 45%, Chris Christie 38%, Ted Cruz 37%, Marco Rubio 33%, Bernie Sanders 31% and Ben Carson 30%. Trump’s 60% is clearly well above all of these. Putting his favorable and unfavorable ratings together yields a net favorable of -27 for Trump, far above the -10 for Clinton and for Bush, the next lowest among the major candidates.

When 60% of the voters think you a jerk it is hard to get elected, especially when you have 100% name recognition. BTW this is from Jan 30, that number will go up after the meltdown trump had last night.

It's good to have a year when the GOP establishment has to worry about too many of their candidates splitting the vote rather than our side having that problem letting Bush, McCain or Romney waltz in. Now can you imagine either Bush or Rubio stepping aside for the "good of the party" and letting the other win? Nope, they are both in until out of money and completely beaten. (I exclude Kasich because I think his second place in NH came from essentially living there for months which he won't repeat I future primaries. He'll be gone soon.)

Odd that I never hear about the Democrat establishment worrying that their choices are an old communist and an old criminal, shrill, rape enabling communist.

Good for you - why don’t you just write in “Virgil Goode” so you can claim you didn’t really help Bernie or Hillary get in?

Yep. Trumpettes have done a great job poisoning the race and ensuring a good conservative will likely not be on the ballot.

Old “Berns” has described himself as a social democrat.
The term communist would not apply.
Look up the dictionary definition of the nazi party.
IMHO.

I believe we (as freepers ) need to correctly define the candidates.

My old college roommate in Texas has had some dealings with Ted Cruz and doesn’t like him. Makes me worried. I trust her judgement. Her husband just retired from the reserves after serving in Afghanistan and surviving non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Cruz did not play gutter politics. His campaign staff passed on a CNN report and he didn’t even know they did it until after the fact. That’s it. Nothing “gutter” about it.

Do we need a likable President or one who is right on the issues? Cruz is not a schmoozer, he will never support someone just because they’re his “friend.” That “boy’s club” is the problem with D.C. A true conservative doesn’t go to D.C. to make friends, they go there to drain the swamp of the vipers and leeches.

Jeff Roe Linked Once Again To Political Lies
http://www.yeoldejournalist.com/23653-2/

This is not the first time that a Jeff Roe run campaign has been accused of leaking to the press that a candidate running against them was quitting the race. In 2010, a press release was sent to KSPR that appeared to be from the Scott Eckersley campaign that noted he was dropping out. KSPR ran the story in the morning news and Eckersley was put in damage control in the final days of the campaign.

There is NO WAY I will ever vote for Jeb, Rubio or Kasich.

The DNC thanks you for not attempting to cancel out the vote of a Democrat...

The Dems find you to be most reasonable and responsible...
