Free Republic Straw Poll (January 2016 edition)
January 3, 2016 | 2ndDivisionVet

Posted on 01/03/2016 2:58:47 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

If you had to vote in your state primary/caucus today, knowing what you know now about the various declared and probable candidates, who would you vote for? Why? Who would you like to see as the running mate for your preferred candidate? If you could help staff your candidates cabinet and other top appointments, who would you choose? If you could recommend different congressional leaders than we have now, who would they be? And who would you like to see on the Supreme Court and why? And finally, feel free to donate to Free Republic.

Not a biggie — I copy and paste each 20-message page of the topic (this is when I’m ambitious of course) into a Tex-Edit file (Mac; MS Word also has a sort), then sort it by paragraph, resulting in all the lines beginning with message numbers grouped together, and occasionally some detritus. It’s a snap to edit out everything but the numbered lines, then two wildcard search and replace yields just the FReeper names. If I feel like it, I can then sort those alpha, but I’m not that OCD. ;’)

My primary vote will go to Trump.
I think Trump has great leadership ability and the economic, business experience we desperately need.
Cruz is the only other possible choice.
I’ve said from day one I want the most conservative person who can win and govern.
I think Cruz has great abilities, but at age 44 he needs more experience, and the ability to get votes outside his ideological base.
He would make an excellent SCOTUS judge or
I’d like to see a Trump/Cruz ticket.

Oh, thanks! I see how you approach it. As for the alphabetical sorting, I guess I am that OCD! It does make managing a big ping list easier, and to avoid double-pinging people.

And my job is also not to vote to elevate them to high office when they have showed a complete dearth of character.

"complete"? Wow, must get lonely for you way up there.

So, King David is out, then. Might as well tear those three books right out of your Bible so that the Lord Almighty's choice doesn't offend thyself.

The system actually handles that automatically, skipping duplicate names. It’s not generally thought about, I’m sure, but the Robinsons did think of it. :’)

I’ve seen a lot more hate from Trump supporters than from Cruz supporters. A LOT MORE!!!! I suppose it is a matter of perspective.

No wonder it didn’t come down. LOL

I had one taken down just before it, and evidently posted the second request to the forum.

The other should be gone shortly.

You’re welcome.

Hey, if you are going to include Fred Grandy you have to include Ben Jones!

Does he break the pattern? I know next to nothing about him.

Even though I only watched the show once or twice. Ben Jones played "Cooter" on The Dukes of Hazzard. After the "Dukes of Hazzard", Ben Jones was elected to the United States Congress as a Democrat from the Fourth District of Georgia and served two terms before redistricting took his seat.
