Donald Trump seems to think he has revolutionized political campaigns. Without spending much money, he is on top of the national polls but is behind in Iowa and losing ground according to some polls in New Hampshire. Trump is running a campaign without spending money on polling, paid advertisements, or get-out-the-vote efforts. He probably views it as cost-effective, but it may end up costing him the nomination.
His long-promised ânext phaseâ defined by new spending, such as a wave of television commercials, has so far failed to materialize, week after week. His advisers have not revealed the existence of any pollsters on their staff or any advertising team. He has no real research operation to examine his own vulnerabilities or those of his opponents and, based on Federal Election Commission filings, little in the way of a voter contact operation to identify and turn out his supporters.
Mr. Trump had hurt himself in Iowa by not augmenting his news presence with a parallel effort to push his message through ads, mailers and phone banks. âSuch an effort would have also inoculated him from attack,â he said....

So... he’s like Romney.
Nobody can play rope-a-dope like Trump.

Yes indeed Mr Trump should exactly replicate the campaign techniques of presidents mclame and Romney. Oh wait...
American Thinker still having their Trump meltdown, I see. ;-)
I wonder if the author of this article is affiliated with of one of these ‘consultant groups’ that Trump hasn’t paid.
This is getting more fun, each day, to watch.
Ouch!
If he doesn’t GOTV, he will fail. It’s that simple. Polls don’t vote.
You stole my thunder.
No one knows what Trump is up to except Trump.
I simply am astonished at the arrogance of these know-it-all writers who claim to know what Trump is doing. If they did they would be in Trump’s shoes.
Trump is at the top and these writers claim to know what Trump should be doing better than Trump. Amazing!
Cruz has been LEGITIMATELY organizing at least since May.
That seems to be the undercurrent of this guy’s complaint. He is basically saying, “The consultants gots to get paid!”
LOL! I’ve never received a Christmas Card in the mail from a candidate!
He didn’t ask for a damn dime. I call that get out the vote.
No holds barred - I take no prisoners.
I see a lot of the Vermont Communist signs but no Hitlery signs. Things will change as we get closer to the election.
I haven't wandered over to the land of the Masshole infiltrators on the 93 corridor but I expect is much the same.
Donald Trump seems to think he has revolutionized political campaigns.
“Seems” being the operative word there.
Trump may think that way for now. If he needs to adjust that thinking, he will. He does so constantly on all issues. That’s how entrepreneurs do operate. They are like generals, they absorb what’s happening on the ground and adjust as needed. In the meantime they advance, advance, advance without mercy. Think Patton.
That was my take ;-)
“The Donald IS the âget-out-the-voteâ operation.”
It’s hard to believe how brain dead some of these elitists are. It’s practically beating them over the head but they still can get a clue.
I’m in Texas...and I see Trump bumper stickers, along the highways between Central and SE TX. I see a few Bernie stickers in Houston and Austin.
No other stickers....not even CRuz.
If true, his arrogance could be his downfall.
So most of the politicians — except for Trump — are begging for money, and their consultants are, too. :)
