FRC's Tony Perkins, 50 Conservative Activists Reportedly Plan to Endorse Ted Cruz
CP Politics ^ | December 16, 2015 | Samuel Smith

Family Research Council president Tony Perkins and dozens of other prominent conservatives are expected to endorse Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, for president, a move that aims to coalesce conservative support around one candidate, a National Review article claimed Tuesday.

The article states that a coalition of as many as 50 influential conservative activists gathered on Dec. 7 at the Sheraton Hotel in Tysons Corner, Virginia for a meeting that was spearheaded by Perkins for the purpose of hashing out which candidate the conservative activists will unite their support behind.

After a long day of discussion and debate, it took five different votes for the group to come to the 75 percent supermajority needed to get the coalition's members to back one candidate. The report states that through the first four sets of ballots, the votes were split between Cruz and Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.

Although the article states that Perkins and other senior members of the group were likely "pushing hard" for the coalition to back Cruz, it took until the late hours of the night for the coalition to get 75 percent of the vote in favor of Cruz when five other members finally decided to switch their vote to Cruz on the fifth ballot....

Cruz can’t Get ‘er done! Trump can.

Nonsense! Trump has never won an election in his life and he does worse against Hilary Clinton than any other leading(and some not leading GOP candidates), despite having more media exposure and free publicity by far than any candidate in history. The general electorate have seen as much of Donald Trump as they can stomach, and they have given him a big THUMPS DOWN, with Trump losing by as much as 10% in his latest NBC poll match-up with Hilary Clinton.

You’ve a right to your opinion, but Cruz can’t win

Is that why Ted Cruz is in a statistical tie with Hilary Clinton, even while Trump is losing by a massive 10% against Hilary in the latest NBC poll?
Trump would get slaughtered by Hilary. There is only one candidate to vote for: Ted Cruz.

Trump is the poster child for RINO’s. Another “lifelong liberal with money rents the Republican Party in order to win an election” Republican. Another Michael Bloomberg. And he is losing big against Hilary Clinton in most polls.

Makes a lot of sense. Ted Cruz is the only truly conservative candidate in the race. It's a no brainier.

The same way the Tumpbots have this maniacal obsession with GOP primary polls that show Trump in the lead and continue to post each poll up to 10 times here on FR and beat their chests about it.
Funny thing it's these same polling outfits that have Trump leading the GOP field, have him getting clobbered by Hilary Clinton. You take one set of polls, you gotta take the other set of polls too. You live by the polls(and that's all Trump and the Trumpbots do all day), you die by the polls.

Yeah, you’re the third long time FReeper who has accused me of various underhanded “reasons” for joining this site. Seems you critters can’t stand someone new coming into your play pen who has a mind of her own. I joined here because a VERY long time FReeper friend insisted that I do so. There is no other reason regardless of what you think. And I don’t give a hoot what “some might think.” Have never allowed other people’s “opinions” to influence me, and not about to start now, so back off your veiled threats.

This was done in TX in 2012 for Santorum; didn’t help that much.

Maybe you live and die by the polls, but I don’t. I weigh every aspect of a candidate’s skill set and accomplishments. pro or con. Maybe some of you should try it. You might like thinking for yourselves. I suppose it’s just too much trouble.
I also find it funny how you Cruz people like to sling around derogatory names just like the Democrats and RINOs do when it comes to Trump supporters. No difference at all. Liberal name calling seems to have taken over the Cruz people. Wonder why you can’t just say Trump supporters, but continually cry and whine about Trumpbots , Trumpettes, and a variety of derivations.

Cruz #1 and Trump #2 for me.

I really do NOT think Trump would take the #2 spot on the Ticket.

That is not what I meant.

I am supporting Cruz #1. If Cruz doesn’t win, I am supporting Trump.

Which polls do you want us to look at?
From RealClearPolitics avg. polls Trump is behind Hillary by 5.8%
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/general_election_trump_vs_clinton-5491.html

The ABC/wash post poll
In the GOP race Trump up 25...losing to Hillary by 6

The USA/Suffolk poll
In GOP race Trump in 10...behind Hillary by 4

The Qunnipiac poll
In GOP race Trump up 10...behind Hillary 6

The PPP poll
In the GOP race Trump up 7...behind Hillary by 1

The ONLY poll from the RCP average that has Trump up on Hillary is the last Fox News poll...he’s up 5...but they also have Cruz beating Hillary by 4.
Even Jeb beats Hillary in that poll.
Trump’s “honesty and trustworthiness” number is 41 yes 55 no...
The worst of the polled GOP candidates and just slightly better than Hillary’s

I’m not going to search all the polls for you, but look at some of the polls in a matchup with Hillary...his negatives/favorable/unfavorable numbers will be worse than Hillary’s

My point is you like to use the polls as long as it shows Trump winning to GOP race...but ignore how he is matching up with Hillary.

there was no threats, veiled or otherwise.

I say/said plainly what I thought.

And her’s another observation - your tone in your posts belong more on DU than in FR

But I DO offer you my sympathy for, wherever you go, there you are.
