PHOENIX Sen. Ted Cruz strode through a resort here, past booths selling elephant-print scarves, gently loved furs and rhinestone pins spelling out presidential candidates names and headed straight into a crowd of screaming women.
Oh, my God, one exclaimed as she spotted Cruz walking toward her at the National Federation of Republican Womens annual conference.
Cruz (R-Tex.) came here Saturday on a mission to court female Republican activists. His timing may be opportune: As front-runner Donald Trump has come under fire for a string of comments many see as anti-women, Cruz is trying to seize the moment to retain and expand his foothold in the GOP electorate.
He also is trying to disprove the axiom that a candidate with a largely evangelical and socially conservative base cant win over women voters.
Ive gotta tell you, the women in here, this is a room of patriots, he told the crowd in Phoenix. This is a room of fighters. This is a room of women that stand up and win elections and are going to save this country.(continued)

A truly liberated woman votes her conscience, not for whoever a flock of cackling hens tells her to.

Yes!!!!!!!! With your permission, I’d like to steal this and use it on Facebook!
Go ahead. Spread it far and wide. :)
They try.
I have no problem with Trump’s treatment of women. he is always a gent when he speaks with people like Judge J Pirro, Greta, Seems to me.
He seems like someone I, as a girl, or anyone, would not want to insult or unfairly attack if I didn’t expect him to hit back even if I am a girl, because I’d be entering the ring with him.
What’s so unlikely? I’d be thrilled to have a chance to vote for him.
LOL, Give Katie Zezima some time.
Unnamed sources state that "She" used to be Steve Zezima, so "She" is still in a (faux-female leftist) learning curve.
JMHO
This woman would love to meet him.
Oh, my God, one exclaimed as she spotted Cruz walking toward her at the National Federation of Republican Womens annual conference."
Hey, wait, this can't be right. A poster on another thread announced that Cruz doesn't know how to connect with people, LOL.
LOL
I was there in Phoenix at the National Federation of Republican Women Convention. Cruz was great. Better than Carly Fiorina who was very good as well. Cruz won the straw poll and the crowd was crazy about him even before he got there. But you know what surprised me the most? How many young volunteers he has. He also said that he raised the most hard money this reporting period than anyone else. Interesting. I was in a private meeting with him, and he was serious, but dynamic. When he got in front of 1500 women, he was funny and sincere. I will try to post some pictures later.
I was there and watched him as he walked through the crowd. They loved him. When he spoke, he was funny and real and his speech was terrific.
I don't doubt it. I think people can instinctively tell when a person is speaking from the heart, and Cruz does that.
I think Ted Cruz is a great candidate. My daughter, fwiw, does not think Ted is guapo and prefers Marco Rubio. Shoot, I just remembered another daughter can vote in November, which probably means she can also vote in the primary. That came up with the previous teenager, who turned 18 in 2014. If you're going to be eligible for the general election, they let you vote in the primary. Not that it matters in NC: might as well vote for Bill the Cat.
Why would women be unlikely to support an intelligent, patriotic candidate who is likely to do more to protect our country and create jobs than anyone else in the race? Oh. Right. The WaPo criticizes all republicans uniformly, with the exception of supporting the weakest GOP candidate right up until he has the nomination (e.g., Dole, McCain, Romney, and now Jeb).
Thank you. An excellent point.
As for my state...with Terry McAuliffe crouching like a toad in the governor's mansion, I'm sure something crooked will be going on behind the scenes when the primaries roll around.
There’s always something crooked, but I don’t think anyone will bother fiddling with our useless late-term primary, at least for President. The real business goes on in County Commissioner elections: they’re all Republicans, so the primary decides the general, and they’re usually all crooks, so the trick is to figure out who owns them.
I have a couple of friends who still think anyone with an “R” behind the name is automatically a good guy. They don’t want to hear any different, and I’m tired of trying.
I worked several elections for my now-retired State Representative, and learned a lot. Politics is dirty, because it involves money and power. And money.
What do you mean, the real business goes on in County Commissioner elections?
