Are We Seriously Doing This? Trump Leads Texas Poll
The San Antonio Current ^ | August 20, 2015 | Michael Marks

Posted on 08/20/2015 3:14:01 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

It seems that Texas Republicans, like Republicans everywhere else, have caught Trump fever. Insert your favorite pathology joke here.

Donald Trump is the favored presidential candidate among Texas Republican voters, according to a poll released today by the Texas Bipartisan Justice Committee. The Houston Chronicle reported the results.

Trump leads the poll with 24 percent support. Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who had led most Texas polls up to this point, came in second with 16 percent. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson is the only other candidate to garner more than 10 percent. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Florida Senator Marco Rubio follow close behind.

Trump has proved to be unassailable. Just one of his campaign trail transgressions could have sunk another candidate, but somehow, he’s done more than just stay afloat. Like an aggressive and possibly deadly hot air balloon, he continues to ascend.

Trump’s campaign missteps include:

-labelling Mexicans who cross the southern border rapists

-calling for mass deportation of illegal immigrants (including those with U.S.-born children)

-suggesting that Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly had blood “coming out of her wherever”

-listing his position on just a single issue on his campaign website

-making it clear he was totally joking about those "dating my daughter" comments he made back in 2006

-offering $50 to anyone willing to cheer for him at his campaign announcement

That's an impressive lifetime list for anyone. For Trump to rack up those accolades in just a few months is a monument to his abilities as some sort of rabble-rousing hair piece gremlin.

Still, the surge continues. Trump is Teflon. That’s apparently as true in Texas as anywhere else.

God help us.

Instead of running down Trump all the usual suspects out here should shovel your anger at the “Mitch & John” show in the U.S. house & senate....they created him with their inaction. If Trump did not show up on the scene this year another person would have. He’s just the vehicle for the nation’s rage.

That’s pretty much how I see things as well regarding Trump.

Trumps technique I call:

Attack, Divert, Reassert

is working on the easily duped.

Here is Trumps game plan in a nut shell.

1. Proclaim loudly in very non-pc terms an apparent hard right stand on any given conservative issue to gain attention for free. (we need to deport the illegal alien criminals!, ect)

2. Then when the press shows up for the show, spout off some drivel anyone would agree with like “They have to go!” or “Make America great again!” ect.

3. When pressed for details on any subject that would expose what he would actually do...

Implement the Attack, Divert, Reassert strategy.

Attack - the question, the questioner, and their motives for asking such a question.

Divert - shift responsibility for whatever mess is being discussed unto someone everyone hates: Washington insiders, The GOPe leadership, the press, The Bush's, politicians in general, the reporter asking the question, it doesn't matter as long as you attack someone nearly everyone hates.

If pressed further..

Simply Reassert your original declaration no one would disagree with (They have to go!)

I can guarantee you every one of these short sayings of Trump have been heavily tested for maximum agreeability.

I mean ... who doesn't want to make America great again? who doesn't think that illegal aliens “have to go” ect?

There is only one problem with that. I have never watched his TV shows before. So it must go deeper than that. Which is good, of course.

They talk about candidates riding on the coattails of a president. Trump will have enormous coattails. And the power to swing a primary away from the establishment choice. McCain is toast.

The current is the left wing free paper in San Antonio.

***************

What in hell does that have to do with the price of Tea in China? The poll is what it is.
They didn’t do it. If you don’t like their report how about the Houston Chronicle report.

The poll may be an outlier but we’ll see.

“he claimed he is Batman.”

It was so cute when he said that to the kid.

I can almost see him on TV every night pointing out the traitors in congress to the American people. This is no small deal going on.

... not because he is a doctrinaire conservative...

Whether he is that or not I'm going to leave for others to decide. What he is for me is this: he is a positive choice for me to make as opposed to being some negative choice foisted upon me against my will - the least of evils, if you will. And it looks like I'm not alone in this perspective.

My first choice, of course, is Cruz. But if Ted signs off on The Donald being the nominee, that works for me. If the relationship they are rumored to be developing is valid it's going to be interesting to see where it goes. Running mates, perhaps? I'd be good with that. Let the fun begin.

1. He says something bold and controversial...

7. Trump gains in the polls. 8. Rinse and repeat.

That is a fine analysis.

the only details he has given are:

Would like to end birthright citizenship.

Would like to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it.

He will “quickly” let all of them back in “except for the bad ones” (what constitutes bad never being stated)

He wants to “keep families together” (but doesn’t elaborate on that any further) The right assumes that means he will deport illegals and their us citizen at birth children, the left assumes that means he will leave families alone and not deport them.

BUT

In the end it doesn’t matter if he deports them all and builds a wall 100 miles high, he has already said he will “quickly” let all but the “bad ones” back in “quickly”. So what is the point of a wall when your holding the door in the wall wide open for nearly all the people you just kicked out to “quickly” return (except for the “bad ones)

Some plan to save America!

*puke*

The guy is a clown and Texans must have collective insanity rivaling the days of supporting slavery to back him. The fact he is soft on free speech, and doesn’t have a clue about the Islamic threat, is enough to disqualify him. He thrives on bullet point proclamations but what does he really believe in other than raising eyebrows?
That you, Karl?

You said he gave no details, even though he did & will be putting out an economic paper soon. So, unless you can see into the future you don’t know what is going to happen with his policies.

I am astounded. I had lost all faith in the citizenry. It just goes to show, our government and politicians are rotten to the core.

As well as the MF'er professional consultants who don't give a *damn* about the country as long as they can cash those huge checks...

...another drinking game comment...

How about every time some “reporter” uses the word “clown” to refer to Trump instead of to him- or herself?

Let me guess what it will say:

Place the blame on both sides for our enormous debt, insert Washington negatively a few times, spit out a few platitude no one would disagree with like ... we need to get our “financial house in order!” and “quit spending money we dont have!”

When asked by a reporter exact what spending he would cut? or if he would raise taxes ?

He will implement the Attack, Divert, Reassert strategy:

1. Attack - the reporter or the question or both.

2. Divert the question by placing blame for the problem “he is just trying to solve” on someone of something everyone hates (lobbyist, Washington insiders, politicians, ect)

if pressed further simply restate the original meaningless platitude (quit spending money we dont have!)

And BINGO! Everyone walks away thinking Trump believes what they believe (no matter what they believe!)

It's so slick, and it will probably work long enough to get him elected.
