Senator Ted Cruz just picked up a huge endorsement in Iowa.
Iowa-based talk radio host Steve Deace, who has been a fixture for conservatives in the Hawkeye State, spoke highly of Cruzs record and his belief that only the Texan can clean up Washington. In an advance statement provided to IJReview, Deace said:
Ted Cruz presents exactly what weve been waiting for, an end to the Washington Cartels false choice between our principles and electability. No one can question Teds courage of conviction and his commitment to our principles.
Deace insisted that Cruz has the chops to actually defeat the GOP establishment for the nomination:
This makes him our best chance to offer the American people a real choice and not an echo for a change, and thats why he has earned our support.

You called it.
Yes it is—I’m happy to see it!
Steve Deace effectively endorsed Ted Cruz about 2 months ago ...
I’ve never listened to the guy or paid any attention to him but I know the name from hearing other conservatives talk about him.
I’ve always been dubious about endorsements.
What does it really mean? One person has made a decision?
Don’t we all make the same decision sooner or later?
Is it some person assuming that their decision means more than that of others?
Fine, I “endorsed” Cruz quite a while back.
Why does this late-coming clown think his opinion is better than mine?
ping for Cruz
I’m more comfortable with Senator Cruz than I am with DT.
Either of them could turn out to be a total bust, but that could have been said of RR too back in ‘79.
Anyway, I think it’s nice to have such a field to choose from.
Actually I respect your opinion more than I do Steve Deace because I know you to be a rock solid unwavering conservative. Your opinion would be taken into account if I saw it.
Steve Deace has a big following. Somewhere out there are people making up their minds and they trust his opinion and it will tip the scale in the direction of Cruz.
Yes Steve Deace is a good guy.
Deace endorsed Cruz back in April, as I recall, and was working on his behalf before that.
That was important because the Huckabee - Santorum - Jindal supporters were hoping he’d give one of them a boost.
Deace, by the way, is barely heard on the radio in Iowa. It’s been a number of years since he had much of an Iowa audience.
That's all good..
But damn.. ain't that kind of like sheep, basing your decision upon what somebody else thinks?
I just can't see defending my position by saying "because the radio guy said so".
Oh well. Takes all types I guess.
I’m getting to like Cruz a lot more than I once did. He certainly has a great resume. Having said that, I’m starting to see how Trump could have enough appeal to get him to the WH (he certainly won’t put off the pro choice crowd).
Cruz’ real Iowa boost is more likely to come from popular Iowa Congressman Steve King. He and Cruz are close.
Iowa US Representatives and Senators, and the Governor, try to hold off endorsements officially because they feel a need to play host to all of the major candidates, but their picks are pretty well known.
This is important this time around because Deace has promised to do everything in his power to help unite Iowa voters behind one conservative candidate in the Caucuses.
He wants to do it now to avoid the carousel that happened in 2012.
It’s easily one of the biggest endorsements of the campaign season.
Unless you have a radio show too the Iowa Caucus electorate is infinitively more familiar with this dude. ;)
