Texas Senator Ted Cruz says it will take "the full Grassley" to win Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucuses in January, 2016.
Red Oak was a southwest Iowa stop in his campaign Friday afternoon. More than 70 people attended Cruz's appearance at the Red Coach Inn. And, the Republican presidential candidate began his presentation by praising a "favorite daughter"--Iowa Senator Joni Ernst of Red Oak.
"Let me tell you something, to the men and women of Red Oak, and the men and women of Iowa," said Cruz, "thank you for sending Joni to the U.S. Senate. Joni is a rock star, and I've noticed Democratic senators--especially Democratic male senators--kind of shift uncomfortably when they suggest they're doing something they shouldn't be doing."
Cruz is one of 12 declared candidates seeking the GOP nomination. Speaking to reporters following his speech, the senator says he'll emulate Iowa Senator Charles Grassley by appearing in all 99 counties. Cruz says he favors the grassroots campaign approach necessary to win in Iowa.
"You know, if presidential campaigns began in big states," he said. "If they began in California and New York, they'd be decided by a bunch of slick T.V. ads. And whoever could come up with best T.V. ad might win. The great thing about starting in the state of Iowa is that everyone here understands the rest of the country is trusting men and women in the state of Iowa to look us in the eyes, and determine who's telling the truth, and who's blowing smoke."(continued)

Never mind the trade deal vote. Cruz supporters are true lovers. And you know what they say about love? “Love is blind”.
I have a question for you; a legitimate question. But, first of all, let me clear the air on something: “Bullshit” is a slang term relative to culture. Some cultures (Singapore as one example; for sure) use it in the same sense as “phooey” or “baloney”. It has even been used in church bulletins in Singapore. “Profane” is something that is blasphemous and religiously desecrated. Having said that, I apologize for using an “offensively slang” term. Today is Sunday, so have a blessed “Lord’s Day”. Now, my question for you.........
So, tell us; who is your preferred candidate at this time? Who is the pure, non-flawed Conservative that you are supporting? Or will you be one of the purists who punishes America by staying home on Election Day and not voting at all? You’ve bashed Ted Cruz; fine, all is fair in love, war and politics. So now, how about a positive? Tell us who we should support since Ted Cruz is “mindless”. WHO, PRAY TELL, SHALL WE GET BEHIND AND SUPPORT? Some positive input please.
Naps. I am only quoting Gov. Walker. The truth hurts, I know...
PS - If my candidate is at events...that means that he is working (on getting elected).
So, if you have the courage to answer, who do you all support?
He won’t answer...they are all cowards. They troll Cruz bashing him, using the same talking points, etc, but seldom do they have the courage to say who they are supporting.
Most likely, Trump or Paul.
My guess...they won’t answer this either because if they do, they will be exposed.
Jindal, Walker for Prez, Fiorina or Susana Martinez for VP.
I am totally open book about my preference. Nobody’s bot.
I do not exclude Cruz, Rubio or Trump from support after they win nomination, but not before.
I can agree with Jindal, but why Walker?
Walker because IMO he has a very good chance to win against Hillary. He has very few negatives. Not many people hate Walker. He is not a firebrand, so does not antagonize anyone, especially independents. He has won 3 elections in a bluish-purple state.
My biggest emphasis is on defeating Hillary.
I agree with winning in a purple state. But, don’t you think there is a reason the Left and the Establishment have held their fire against his guy?
Cruz would win by a bigger margin I think. He is a Conservative...independents want a leader. Walker has those qualities, but so does Cruz.
However, in a previous thread, I did say that if Cruz lost the primary, Walker/Rubio would be a KILLER ticket in electoral math.
And, I suppose your candidate had clean hands on TPP? Oh wait, no...you support Walker!
I know Naps is incapable of logical thinking, but Walker came out in full support of the deal.
But hey, I guess Walkerbots are true lovers too then, huh?
That Patriot Act thing is pesky too...
I am not so sure Cruz would win by larger margin than Walker.
Have you looked at Cruz’s poll numbers? If he can’t catch fire among republican voters, how is he going to win by bigger margin than Walker in general? You really think independents like Cruz better than Walker? Can you link some polls to that effect? That said, if Cruz wins nomination, I will support him.
Realistically, all of the top 10 who will appear on debate stage in August are better candidates than McCain & Romney. So, I am encouraged about 2016. John Ellis Bush has no charisma and is a boring speaker. He worries me the most if wins nomination. I do not like mild mannered candidates.
They are ALL in favor of TPP as dictated by their rich donor sugar daddy’s. AFAIK only Jindal has come out against TPP. And Trump does not need a sugar daddy, which is the best thing about Trump.
The 2 candidates worse than Romney are Bush and Christie. Graham is up there too.
I base my opinions of Cruz on the treatment by his opponents on this site and others. If he wasn’t strong, why would they care enough to come on here and criticize? I mean, it is one thing to make fun of Lindsey Graham because we know he won’t win, but Cruz...between the media and the trolls, he is winning.
Add that to the fact that most of the Party groups that want a featured speaker want Cruz. He has raised a boatload of money.
You mention polls...but the polls are meaningless. For example, the MSNBC poll only asked 300 “Republican voters” their preference. In ALL of the grassroots polls, those take of those of us who vote, CRUZ wins all of them. You mention independents...Reagan won them and Democrats both times...he is like Reagan. I am a Conservative but independent...I support Cruz because he is a leader.
Keep your eyes open as to who fox talks about or doesn’t talk about. Watch who gets the speaking engagements. Watch who has the ground game in place. Watch who is going into other states to campaign. Watch who the trolls criticize on here.
Anyway, we have a good group. I think any one of them, minus Bush, will beat Hillary.
Where have you been Bikk?
