Texas Senator Ted Cruz says it will take "the full Grassley" to win Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucuses in January, 2016.
Red Oak was a southwest Iowa stop in his campaign Friday afternoon. More than 70 people attended Cruz's appearance at the Red Coach Inn. And, the Republican presidential candidate began his presentation by praising a "favorite daughter"--Iowa Senator Joni Ernst of Red Oak.
"Let me tell you something, to the men and women of Red Oak, and the men and women of Iowa," said Cruz, "thank you for sending Joni to the U.S. Senate. Joni is a rock star, and I've noticed Democratic senators--especially Democratic male senators--kind of shift uncomfortably when they suggest they're doing something they shouldn't be doing."
Cruz is one of 12 declared candidates seeking the GOP nomination. Speaking to reporters following his speech, the senator says he'll emulate Iowa Senator Charles Grassley by appearing in all 99 counties. Cruz says he favors the grassroots campaign approach necessary to win in Iowa.
"You know, if presidential campaigns began in big states," he said. "If they began in California and New York, they'd be decided by a bunch of slick T.V. ads. And whoever could come up with best T.V. ad might win. The great thing about starting in the state of Iowa is that everyone here understands the rest of the country is trusting men and women in the state of Iowa to look us in the eyes, and determine who's telling the truth, and who's blowing smoke."(continued)

Impressive
Above is a photo of their banquet hall. I'm betting they have a fire marshal there. How many people do you think that room would accommodate?
Touché
I said it was impressive. What more did I have to add?
I’m all in for Cruz!
I think he could rescue this country.
How ‘bout a Cruz/Trump ticket?
Cruz would have a huge pile of $$$ to spend then.
Strange bedfellows.
Taking the sarcasm down to a “10” would’ve helped. Do you truly think that the other people on this board besides you are all morons?
In the 2010 census there were 5742 people in Red Oak Iowa. You probably can’t get more than 75 people together in one place unless it’s for high school ball game.
I lived in Iowa about half of my life. I don’t think everybody here realizes how small and underpopulated it is compared to many other states.
I am guesing about 100 people.
Are you asking seated or standing ?
Looks like they had it at full compacity.
The round tables have 6 seated to each table.
Not sure how long the rectangle tables are, I think 10 to 12 each at those tables.
70 sounds about right.
If this is rual Iowa in the corn fields I would say this is a good turnout.
The Biker guy as VP
Counting the chairs, there might have been more than 70 maybe 80 people there.
IOWA - Idiots Out Wandering Around. 70 is all he could get. That is impressive! Come now Impressive would be like 300 or more but 70 that is probably all the paid people to attend. I think the people in Iowa know that Ted is not what is best for America. he had his 15 minutes of glory and when he voted in the Senate for ObamaTrade he ended is chances with Conservatives.
Hey! Am back online.. but no PC (typing on Android, so this will be short).. Hopefully I will have a PC in the next couple of weeks.. Really missed FR (and online in general) ..
