Sen. Ted Cruz is polling better against Hillary Clinton, but not against the people he’d need to beat to face her.
Cruz gained ground on the former secretary of state in a CNN/ORC poll released Tuesday trailing her 52 percent to 43 percent in a hypothetical 2016 match-up. The nine-point gap is a major improvement from the 24-point Cruz lost by in a mid-April poll.
But Cruz only gained one point on his primary competition in a poll of Republicans and GOP-leaning independents, inching from seven to eight points.
Clinton’s polling in favorability, trustworthiness and empathy also tanked, so this survey might stand as a better gauge of her prospects than Cruz’s....

Cruz polls much better with conservatives which are the ones who actually vote in primaries.
We know who they fear!
Cruz has been sort of quiet here lately, which might not be a bad thing for him, as the news lately has been full of extremely incendiary issues which, hopefully, will not the the main issues as we get closer to the debates. People will want to hear about how candidates propose to get the economy booming again and foster strong job growth. Who will reign in oppressive federal government intervention and over regulation of our lives. Who will finally give us a good national energy policy. Who will scale back or get rid of the Dept. of Education.

Because every republican is a conservative at election time. Some of them severely so.
IMO when the debates begin Cruz will shine when the field get whittled a bit the contrast between Cruz and the others will become more pronounced.
It’s *critical* to lie to the pollsters: it unnerves them via self-doubt, forces them to hunt for internals they don’t want to read, and they then set up their targeting and smearing all wrong.

Cruz is doing fine IMO...as another poster said this is not a sprint....Media will say what they will all along to keep people engaged and to formulate the race as they want it to go.
I agree with your post regarding Cruz....and will add i give Cruz lots of room for how his campaign goes and what he states....HE will have to play middle ground on some issues...as he will need voters to win. But I trust when Cruz has the Presidency he will do what is good for this nation because he has one thing most don’t....he believes what he says.
