The medias conventional wisdom is that Mike Huckabee, a onetime winner of the Iowa caucuses, doesnt have much of a shot in 2016.
So why are some pundits and news outlets suddenly attacking him if hes just an asterisk?
The answer is that the former Arkansas governor and ex-Fox News contributor will matter, at least in the early states. And beyond that, some conservatives have a visceral dislike for the guyand especially for his passionate defense of entitlement programs.

He should have some dignity and do the right thing and throw his support behind the right candidate, Cruz.
I wouldn’t vote for this guy in a billion years. He comes off as outdated, outmoded, and out of touch. Plus he grew his state’s spending by 65 percent.
Which is why he is running. It is to marginalize that block vote for the GOPe to obtain the nomination.
Yes, he is taking the role of a spoiler. No question!
I am not big on conspiracy theories. My best guess is Huckabee is angling for a big book deal. He is after publicity.
I can’t believe this buffoon might get in the way of a Cruz primary victory.
Who are his followers and where do they come from. All the people I know up here could stomach him on fox (I could just barely) but would never vote for him.
Dennis Millet said “no one’s gonna vote for someone named Huchabee! It’s like “Quick Draw McGraw!””
I’m sure that’s a side benefit, but that is what I believe about candidates like Huckabee or Santorum. They know they cannot win, but they stay in the race just long enough to ensure real alternatives cannot win and then they pull out.
Every Presidential election.
Aint necessarily so. Most Christians are descerning folks and can tell a phony when they see one. That is why he didn’t receive many christian votes in his last attempt.
I thought he did real well in Iowa in 2012.
lol
Yep, one state out of the 57 (pun intended).
Sorry, I think it was in 2008 when he won Iowa?
I can see the campaign already...

His college days were a hoot, imagine this as a campaign ad, without any editing.

Warning there were squirrels harmed in his college days.
The ones he was selling miracle diabetes cures to six months ago?
LOL

Because even the press enjoy a good game of "Whack a Mole'!
A contrived whacking of Mike Huckabee. He isn’t gaining any traction on his own.
Did Mike Huckabee Raise Taxes in Arkansas?
Here are some fiscal facts regarding his tenure as governor:
- Cut the state capital gains tax rate by 25%.
- Pushed a $90 million tax cut package through the Arkansas legislature in 1997.
- When faced with a $227 million deficit for fiscal year 2002, refused to call for a tax increase and instead called for a massive cut in state spending.
Michael T. Griffith
- “During the 2007-2008 Republican primary, Huckabee signed the Americans for Tax Reform’s Presidential Taxpayer Protection Pledge, which states he will “oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses . . . and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.”
Micah McBay (Arkansas Resident) - “What did Mike Huckabee do as governor of Arkansas?
- Set the tone of government. Following the Clintons and their hand picked successor Jim Guy Tucker (who served time in prison for his illegal dealings), Arkansas needed someone with moral integrity and honor in the Governors Mansion. Mike Huckabee was that man.
Michael Medved, Townhall.com
- “In terms of overall tax burden (state-local-federal) Arkansas remained virtually unchanged-— from 30.3% (39th among the 50 states) to 30.5% (32nd place).
