CNN reports that, while speaking to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Ted Cruz took a swipe at Mitt Romneys infamous 47 percent remark.
Cruz reframed the conversation, taking the opportunity to connect the remark to the Hispanic vote:
The media repeatedly said the reason Mitt Romney got clobbered in the Hispanic community was because of immigration the data dont bear that out
What the polling data showed is actually Hispanic voters agree with Mitt Romney on a great many issues. Where he got clobbered was cares about somebody like me. Where he got clobbered was the 47 percentyou remember the infamous comment
I think Republicans are and should be the party of the 47 percent.
While Cruz received only 35% of the Hispanic vote in his 2012 Senate race, conservative politicians made some considerable gains in the 2014 mid-terms.
According to Pew Research, Greg Abbott of Texas garnered 44% of the Hispanic vote, and David Perdue of Georgia garnered 42%.
This is significant, given that just two years prior, Mitt Romney received only 27% of the national Hispanic vote.
Ted Cruz may be on to something. Despite Pew reporting that 84% of Hispanic voters say a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants is more important or equally important as securing the border:
When it comes to their vote, half (54%) of Latino registered voters say they would vote for a candidate who disagrees with them on immigration policy if that candidate agrees with them on most other issues.
On Wednesday, Cruz said:
We asked Hispanic voters in Texas what your number one issue is. You know what percent said immigration? Three percent 54 percent said jobs and the economy.
It appears that 2016 will be the laboratory that puts this concept to the test.
You have to speak Mexican — but he is one of many. Get the illegal aliens out of here.
well i did create a thread regarding a Cruz/Rubio ticket, many of us didn’t like the idea of Rubio being on the ticket, but we may have to accept it, A Rubio/Cruz ticket could easily flip many purple states that have a significant hispanic population.
Rubio is too young but would make a super addition to the Rand Paul ticket. I assume that is where it is going with the huge swell for senator Paul.
You have to speak Mexican

Mexican is a nationality; not a language. A “Mexican” is a person from Mexico and the language they speak is Spanish, NOT Mexican.
Rubio is too young, the again, Obama has no experience doing anything. Whoever gets the nomination will just have to look at the map(like they usually do) and will likely choose a VP depending on what state he still needs. Rubio or Cruz should handily take Florida, but we still need those four cornered states out west.
“didnt like the idea of Rubio being on the ticket, but we may have to accept it,..”
That’s how we got that d@mned Bush dynasty. Because everyone said Reagan “needed” Bush. Looking back, does anyone really believe Reagan wouldn’t still have won just as big with anyone else as a veep?
Rubio is the modern version of Bush, circa 1980.
Why don’t we just grant them amnesty right now, then they could cast a vote for Cruz?
Think of all the time saved.
You need to head to open mic night at your neighborhood comedy club.
I could live with a Cruz/Rubio Ticket but, don’t you think that for many Americans, having two Hispanics on the Ticket, would be considered over-kill?
“Mexican is a nationality; not a language. A Mexican is a person from Mexico and the language they speak is Spanish, NOT Mexican.”
Except when it isn’t. Mexican Spanish is quite different from Spain Spanish. It’s always good for a laugh when Mexicans (especially of the New Mexico species) explain to you how they are Spanish, not Mexican.
Mexican language is as different from Spanish as the food in both countries is different.
When it comes to their vote, half (54%) of Latino registered voters say they would vote for a candidate who disagrees with them on immigration policy if that candidate agrees with them on most other issues. //
Churchgoing. Not for gay marriage. Hard working for the most part. Climbing the ladder. ALL dems have to hold onto legal Spanish vote is illegal immigration and “hate the gringo”. Ted is Brilliant. He can get to 40% and win.
Let him talk about a pathway to legal status. I think in his heart he means it and if he changes his mind once elected, oh well. Like obummer with gay marriage.
What would you think of the choice of Gov. Susana Martinez of NM for VP?
A big majority of LEGAL immigrants who went through the process and became citizens favor a strict immigration policy and a secure border. They walked the walk and deserve America's respect. The Obama Administration's actions completely disregard and disrespect them.
Forget it. I would never support a ticket with Rubio on it.
It would be overkill, unless Susanna was the veep. Then I think the female aspect would be the discussion.
Its also interesting again. The repub problem is that everyone is Cuban, Mexican, Black, White. Indian (red dot) etc etc.. We are do diverse that we have to worry about being TOO diverse.
The Dems forseeable candidates are all lilly white, except for Fauxcahontas.
choose a VP depending on what state he still needs.....

You can’t count on the VP candidate carrying their state for the Ticket. Paul Ryan did not put Wisconsin in the GOP column in 2012. Heck, Al Gore didn’t even carry his home State when he was the candidate for POTUS in 2000.
She’s a good lady. I highly recommend her. My only reservation is that she’s such a good person, id hate to send her into that DC cesspool and watch them ruin her life.
Even a successful presidency or vice presidency, pretty much would ruin your life.
Don't let the FACTS cloud your opinion. The reality is that 52% of Hispanics support "marriage" between two wicked sodomites. That's not at all a Christian value -- it's simply following the path that satan set.
We know you are a Rand Paul supporter who trashes Cruz constantly.
