Obstructionism may play well for House Republicans in safely red districts, but a poll done this week suggests that the government shutdown may actually hurt Representatives in competitive districts. In a poll conducted in 24 House districts over Wednesday, Thursday and Friday by Public Policy Polling, registered voters in 17 of those districts favored a generic Democratic challenger over the incumbent Republican. The Democrats would need to win 17 seats in the 2014 midterm elections to take control of the House. Republicans have felt the brunt of the publics anger for the standoff over the government shutdown. Polls released last week by CBS and Fox showed that Americans blame Republicans for the shutdown by a wide margin. Progressive organizations like MoveOn.org, which paid for the PPP poll, are already preparing to make a push to retake the house, although the general election is still more than a year away.

What do you think of it?
Paid for by Moveon.
‘Nuf said.
From MSNBC.... Yeah...
Rock on lefties.....more to come your way in the near future.
When pigs fly...
MSNBC citing a PPP poll saying that Republicans are doomed.
My only response is to yawn and say “How original!”
“POLLPRAGANDA”
You’ve inspired a new term!
It is meant to scare the wussy Republicans on the CR and debt ceiling. The MSM is getting real scared as the clock keeps ticking on Obummerâs most recent âred line.â
That “generic Democratic challenger” would have to defend Obama’s policies. As soon as they get identified with keeping grandpa out of HIS war memorial, “generic” has a face and will lose.
This would be the same Public Policy group that did a poll on the Colorado statehouse critter that showed she was going to be recalled, but they withheld the poll and did the mea culpas?
I think there is some truth in this poll.
This happens when you lose your base.
Especially the shutdown stuff. Some of it is just silly and the average American is well aware of it. Shutting down viewing stands so people don't get a roadside view of Mt. Rushmore? Shutting down parking at Mt. Vernon?
Silly.
But I think the bigger deal long term is gonna be Ocare. Sticker shock is setting in and even lefties are coming to the conclusion that this might not be such a hot idea and this is gonna cost the average American a LOT more bucks for a lot fewer services between now and the 2014 election. I think it's gonna blow up on the progs REAL bad! And they cant blame the right wing for it either, It's all the left wing that's costing them money and jobs for far fewer services.
And there's a silliness component to OCare as well. Men required to sign up for plans that have Maternity care? OB care? Abortion coverage?
Silly.
In politics you can get away with being a tyrant. You can even get away with being stupid. But being a laughing stock is usually fatal.
....and MSNBC will lose more viewers.....
Because the Republicans are now clearly identified as having opposed it, the 2014 mid-terms will be the Democraps biggest defeat in history.
Lies, damned lies, and statistics.
And msnbc.
I followed the links until I got the same answer as you. MoveOn.org...really unbiased if you aks me/s.
The other thing I found equally disgusting was the fat assed 79 year old ‘lady’ with the placard telling Congress to “do it’s job” and emblazoned with the Obama sunrise mark of the Devil. The bitch couldn’t even protest standing up...had to have her own lawn chair to ‘protest.’
The problem now is that the Democrats have met their worst nightmare: Republican Leaders that are now deathly afraid that the Tea Party can unseat them in their own primaries for 2014. They are scared to death of this because it forces Boehner, et al to have to stand up to Obama and take this shutdown farther than Obama and crew want.
A poll from MSNBC (obomaville) says the Republicans will lose in 2014 if oboma isn't happy.
Must be true. (/s)
Yeah. Seriously. What did they do? Poll themselves?
