This week in the presidential campaign was driven by several stories, primarily Mitt Romneys speech to the NAACP convention; the likely bogus rumor that Romney was considering Condoleeza Rice as his vice-presidential pick; and the hysterical, bogus claim that Romney may be a felon based on decade-old SEC filings. Lets look at the common thread running through them.
Partisans on both sides of the aisle questioned Romneys decision to appear at the NAACP convention, given that African-Americans have been a solidly reliable Democratic voting bloc for decades. However, a Romney campaign adviser told BuzzFeed that Romneys attendance at the convention wasnt primarily intended to break off a portion of the black vote, but to make clear to moderates that he intends to be an inclusive president. (I would suggest this was also part of the motivation for the Condi VP leak, if it came from the campaign.) It is really polite code for saying Romney was going after the votes of white college graduates, particularly women. Recall how the Emerging Democratic Majority theorists see this campaign:
[Ruy] Teixeira, writing with John Halpin, argues in The Path to 270: Demographics versus Economics in the 2012 Presidential Election, that in order to be re-elected, President Obama must keep his losses among white college graduates to the 4-point margin of 2008 (47-51). Why? Otherwise he will not be able to survive a repetition of 2010, when white working-class voters supported Republican House candidates by a record-setting margin of 63-33.
Obamas alternative path to victory, according to Teixeira and Halpin, would be to keep his losses among all white voters at the same level John Kerry did in 2004, when he lost them by 17 points, 58-41. This would be a step backwards for Obama, who lost among all whites in 2008 by only 12 points (55-43). Obama can afford to drop to Kerrys white margins because, between 2008 and 2012, the pro-Democratic minority share of the electorate is expected to grow by two percentage points and the white share to decline by the same amount, reflecting the changing composition of the national electorate.
Recent polling suggests Obamas current support among non-college whites remains mired about where is was for Democrats in 2010. However, Obama has largely maintained his support with white college grads, still within the margin of error of that 47% he won in 2008. If he erodes much further in that demographic, it is also unlikely that he would be able to achieve the alternate target for the overall white vote.
Obamas precarious position in this regard explains the increasingly negative, hysterical and defamatory campaign being waged by Team Obama, promoted by various establishment media outlets at different times over the past few weeks, culminating in the full flowering of Romney Derangement Syndrome at this weeks end. Team Obama must increasingly rely on the otherization of Romney (and his church) of the sort the very same people roundly condemned and marginalized when attempted against Obama in 2008. Indeed, Obama started painting himself into his current corner during the 2008 primaries. Obama ran and has largely governed against the Clintonian version of the Democratic Party, now extending to Obamas weakening of welfare reform. It is thus not terribly surprising that Obamas tenuous grip on white college grads has become the flashpoint of the 2012 campaign.
>>. The GOP elite who got a man nominated who is so repulsive he can’t beat the worst President we have ever had.<<
Water under the bridge. So far the anti-Romney people are big crybabies throwing a tantrum.
>> RINOs ( Romney Is Not Obama ) such as yourself who have actively supported the liberal so early in the game, he feels no need whatsoever to do anything to convince the real conservatives he will be on their side.<<
I see what you did there — very clever. I can be 100% sure Romney will assist in the repeal of obamacare.
The perfect is the enemy of the good. This anti-Romney talk is just sour grapes and tantrums.
Yeah, I get your point.
I don't want to vote for Romney. I have been planning to vote for Gary Johnson.
But Obama is such a "d" bag, that I'm going to be forced to vote for Romney.
...as I am free to tell someone to bug off. It works both ways. They don’t have to listen.
If there are not voting for romney they are for obama.
It’s the elitist thing that us peons will never understand.
For all those extended years in the universities, the profs indoctrinate into a liberal agenda. Opinion is taught as fact in the so-called public schools across America.
The “educated,” as the left likes to call themselves, get their news from NPR and shun any alternatives.
Unfortunately, until conservatives can somehow break the stranglehold the left has in the schools (it’s the building block for “the future generation of liberalism”) - we’ll be at a distinct disadvantage in this regard.
It is becoming increasingly clear that the venerable FR forum is being corroded from within - with deep-seated and evil hatred that is bubbling to the surface...
at the bottom, in the mire, seems to be irrational, ignorant, pontifical, self-righteousness by those holier than the rest of us who truly believe they, and they alone, know that the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of LAtter Day Saints do not believe in Jesus Christ and are dark demons determined to rule the world.
I do believe FR is in danger of being destroyed from within - by allowing this visceral hatred to take over the forum.
Sad.
Fortunately, he speaks better than you.
Or perhaps taking a deceptive, Left-wing Romney-position,
with the necessary accompanying LYING,
causes immediate brain rot. ??

Education:
B.A. from Brigham Young University,
J.D. and M.B.A. from Harvard University
Religion:
Mormon - The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints
Working Background:
After high school, he spent 30 months in France as a Mormon missionary.
After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School simultaneously, he passed the Michigan bar exam, but never worked as an attorney.
In 1984, he co-founded Bain Capital a private equity investment firm, one of the largest such firms in the United States .
He was President and CEO of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
In 2002, he was elected Governor of the State of Massachusetts where he eliminated a 1.5 billion deficit.
Bain Capital, starting with one small office supply store in Massachusetts, turned it into Staples; now over 2,000 stores employing 90,000 people.
Bain Capital also worked to perform the same kinds of business miracles again and again, with companies like Domino's, Sealy, Brookstone, Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group, Dollarama, Home Depot Supply, and many others.
He was an unpaid bishop and state president of his church for ten years.
He was an unpaid President of the Salt Lake Olympic Committee for three years.
He took no salary and was the unpaid Governor of Massachusetts for four years.
He gave his entire inheritance from his father to charity.
Mitt Romney is one of the wealthiest self-made men in our country but has given more back to its citizens in terms of money, service and time than most men.
And in 2011 Mitt Romney gave over $4 million to charity, almost 19% of his income.... Just for comparison purposes, Obama gave 1% and Joe Biden gave $300 or .0013%.
Mitt Romney is Trustworthy:
He will show us his birth certificate
He will show us his high school and college transcripts.
He will show us his social security card.
He will show us his law degree.
He will show us his draft notice.
He will show us his medical records.
He will show us his income tax records.
He will show us he has nothing to hide.
Mitt Romney's background, experience and trustworthiness show him to be a great leader and an excellent citizen for President of the United States.
You may think that Romney may not be the best representative the Republicans could have selected. At least I know what religion he is, and that he won't desecrate the flag, bow down to foreign powers, or practice fiscal irresponsibility. I know he has the ability to turn this financial debacle that the current regime has gotten us into. We won't like all the things necessary to recover from this debt, but someone with Romney's background can do it. But, on the minus side, He never was a “Community Organizer”, never took drugs or smoked pot, never got drunk, did not associate with communists or terrorists, nor did he attend a church whose pastor called for God to damn the US
********************
I wonder who might be counted on better to bring jobs and fiscal stability back to our country?
That is what I don't understand about the freepers who say they won't vote for Romney or will vote for a third party. He won the majority of votes in the primaries. Sure he outspent his opponents and derided them in his commercials, but the others would have done the same thing had they had the money.
Romney wasn't even on my list of choices, but I will never vote for a communist like obama. You can accuse Romney of many things, but he must be some sort of capitalist to make all the money he has made. I am going to vote for him because I do not think we can survive four more years of obama.
yeah, but but but - what about that picture I saw where there’s alike the back of a kinda black guy’s head, and there’s a mirror, and in the mirror - and you may not believe this but I swear to you I saw it - IT’S MITT ROMNEY!!! Seriously. It means Mitt wants to leave aborted babies who are born alive to die with out any care, you know.
The full outbreak of Romney Derangement Syndrome: Diogenesis
Pfffft.
I dont remember Romney rattling off his, recent acquired?, conservative bonafides?

IOW Obama is a Conservative...
I’m in MA
I hate Mittens
I will be voting for Mittens (spit)
I will actively engage ‘independents’ and ‘democrats’ to vote for Mittens
I will Tea Party AGAINST Mittens when he gets the Presidency and engages in RINO-Speak and actions.
OMG
Well... maybe not everyone knows that I am NOT a fan of Romney. Newt always was & will always be (even as a what-could-have-been) my choice for president.
I haven’t given up hope for a miracle to come out of the convention, but I am ardently praying that there won’t be any nonsense from either the Paultards or the Santorum camp at the convention- which can only hurt, imho.
There is not an iota of doubt in my mind that 0 & his democrat minions are full blown Communists with every intention of completely taking America down.
How much plainer does he/ do they, need to say it & show it? Every. Day.
Whatever else we can say about Romney, he does love America. From all appearances, he always has. He is patriotic & proud of his country. From what I can tell, that’s “the walk” he has always walked.
0 & Mooch (& the democrats) have made no bones about their disdain for us & everything we stand for. It’s not a reach to say that they hate America. They want every trace of America as we have known it, gone. As if it never even existed. They have exploited every American institution to further their leftist agenda & they *will* do much, much worse. If we look back, they’ve been at this for almost 100 years now.
A republican House & Senate won’t stop 0bama’s EOs, the DOJ, or the courts.
That’s the biggest difference between Romney & 0 from my point of view.
Romney may be no better than 0 in some ways, but he is not worse. At his known worst, he will never be the threat to our freedom & our way of life that 0bama is.
Better question: When was the last president that didn't?
Let's start with the present and go backwards:
So, all of the presidents in my political life have been giving our country to the dogs. Maybe "failure to secure the border" could be more descriptive but it is itself adequate given that is one of the two legitimate functions of government:
“apparently you didn’t listen to us about another acolyte of the anti-christ named Romney. “
Right. Those Mormona (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) ain’t fooling anyone! Especially us smart Freepers! WE know they don’t believe in Jesus Christ.
Here’s just one of huundreds of the hyms they sing, for example.

And then there are YEARS of speeches given at their conferences online for anyone to listen to and see just how evil they are...out of their own mouths.
Here are some snippets from this springs conference in Salt Lake City - just listen to these evil messages s/ (You can get the full speeches on line to - they are brazen, they hide nothing! s/ again

Obvioulsy, someone who spent 20 years with Jeremiah Wright as his mentor is to be trusted just as much as someone who was raised with these people.
and the there’s the Mormon women - they are the mainstay in helping those in need...as Paul Harvey once said: “if the other churches took care of their people like the Mormon Church does, there would be no need for government aid programs.” (But they help anyone in need - in catastrophies around the world - don’t have to be Mormon, just in need.)

the last link is for anyone who possesses a modicum of invidual honesty and intelligence and prefers to do their own research and believes that the first place to start regarding learning about a people is to go to the horses mouth. One of two people may not tell the story, but when the thread is consistent, the story can be found. (Others be warned. The information may not fit your omnipotent knowledge - and will set your teeth on edge. Best avoid. It may interfere with your deep seated and hard won predjudice.)
