LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. --Does a fork or dinner knife pose an unacceptable danger to President Barack Obama?
One wouldn’t think so, given the hundreds of lunches and dinners he’s attended ranging from state dinners to political fundraisers to run-of-the-mill stops on the rubber-chicken circuit.
However, at one such lunch Friday afternoon, guests heard an unusual announcement that they needed to hand over their silverware for security reasons.
“It’s very important that you use your utensils as soon as possible,” National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials board member Raquel Regalado told about 1000 delegates at the group’s annual conference.
Regalado hurried the diners to finish up their salads and pre-cut chicken breasts, saying that the Secret Service required that there be no knives at the tables and that the forks be rounded up before Obama entered the room.
“As you know, we’re having another speaker and there is some Secret Service involved. So there’s a reason why there’s no knives at your table and the forks will be collected…..And I’m not joking,” Regalado told the audience in a ballroom at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World. “So, like the good Hispanic mother I’m here to tell you to please, eat your lunch.”
A Secret Service spokesman confirmed that the agency made the request, but said such requirements are common at large events where the president speaks at about the same time people are dining....

The truly frightening part is this : in his mind, and the mind of his army of flying monkeys, the requirement was both reasonable and justified.

Oh, my, I didn’t know spoons, forks, and case knives were weapons. I went to visit a friend in the Texas hill country over the weekend. How do I know she wasn’t going to kill me with a spoon? I survived with my life even though we used knives, forks, spoons.
Beware of these weapons in your houseand watch for anyone coming in the door with a plastic spoon - don’t be a statistic! Maybe put a sign on your front door - DANGEROUS SPOONS, FORKS, CASE KNIFES, METAL OR PLASTIC, MUST BE LEFT OUTSIDE! THIS MEANS YOU!
I can understand the SS wanted the knives used to be collected before our king enters the room...
Seriously how much damage can a fork do to a person...even if they got close enough to lunge at the dork...
I can only imagine how much the threat level has gone up with the antics of this asshat president...but forks...come on..

How could they have confiscated forks and there not be a word about drinking straws? What if someone blew a pea from the salad through a straw aimed at the President and it killed or maimed him?

Did they drink from paper cups? Obviously no one thought that a glass, coffee cup or bottle of taco sauce could be broken and used like a straight razor? DUH !!
That one question, driven hard, could end this. There it is...not only racist overtones but class warfare.
Obama rode the OWS crap and here he is not only kissing their tail, but showing them blatant preference over security? I hope the Superpacs are paying attention.

Some years ago, my husband and I were having lunch at a Pizza Hut. Midway through our meal, some guy comes rushing in the door, obviously upset and angry, yelling and making a scene towards the cashier and cooks behind the counter. The restaurant was semi-full, and as you can imagine, everyone had stopped eating and talking to watch what was clearly a tense (and possibly dangerous) situation.
After a minute or so of yelling and cursing, the "intruder" rushes behind the counter and grabs a utensil out of a canister sitting near the pick-up station. There's an audible gasp from everyone in the restaurant! Oh my gosh... what's he gonna do?!? Then, from the cashier's stand comes a sarcastic voice: "Dude... it's a spatula!"
Moments later, the angry guy exits the restaurant. Needless to say, hubby and I have not returned.
