Mitt Romney wins Wyoming caucus vote
Yahoo! News / ABC News ^ | March 1, 2012 | Chris Good

Mitt Romney has won Wyoming's presidential caucus vote, a series of county straw polls that took place over the last three weeks.

With 39 percent, Romney finished ahead of Rick Santorum (32 percent), Ron Paul (21 percent) and Newt Gingrich (8 percent). The Wyoming GOP released the final results Wednesday night.

Like Iowa's presidential caucus vote, Wyoming's is not binding and will in no way affect the state's 29 delegates.

Wyoming's caucuses, however, took place over the better part of a month: Counties were allowed to hold their precinct caucuses over a wide range of time, and the first county voted on Feb. 9. If Iowa's caucuses rendered a snapshot of public sentiment in that state, Wyoming has supplied a pinhole exposure.

More media attention will likely be paid to Wyoming's county conventions, held March 6-10, which will directly elect 12 delegates to the Republican National Convention, and to its April state convention, which will elect another 14 delegates. None of those delegates will be allocated (or "bound") to any presidential candidate, though each will have to announce support for a particular candidate or "undecided."(continued)

If he doesn't get the delegates, how is that a win?

Maybe it’s a beauty contest that has no definitive delegate meaning, like the others Santorum won a few weeks back. I’m not sure though. But I think that’s the case.

Not if EVERYONE coalesces and unifies ASAP behind one ANTI ROMNEY conservative and that person should be whomever is most immediately trailing him in Second Place in the total delegate count for the nomination, and who also comes/came in closely second to him here in Wyoming, Rick Santorum.

Anything else is just splitting the vote at this point.

Because it's not a win worth much of anything. Something of worth won't come until later.

More media attention will likely be paid to Wyoming's county conventions, held March 6-10, which will directly elect 12 delegates to the Republican National Convention, and to its April state convention,

Wyoming's presidential caucus vote, a series of county straw polls that took place over the last three weeks.

Three weeks at the height of Santo's climb who is now on the down slide. As I was saying, this straw vote is worth about as much as a bad episode of Fantasy Island.

100% Wrong. Why is everyone is such a rush.

Of the Locked in delegates. The ones that cannot be changed it is a dead heat for 2nd place.

Mittens 128 total
Santorum 29- 11Iowa, 3Nevada, 15Michigan
Gingrich 29- 23SCarolina, 6 Nevada.
RonPaul 11

This is why I think Newt has stayed out of the Caucuses. They are not locked into their Candidate, In fact we have heard that alot of Santorum Delegates were actually Ron Paul supporters. Any how they are non binding.

Santorum better be worried about Ohio.

Santorum's 2012 nominating convention delegate total is now in the high 80s, if you had not caught that.....with Gingrich at about 29 GOP delegates. Romney is ahead and strong, but he can be brought down and stopped by and after Super Tuesday only if CONSERVATIVES UNIFY ASAP TO TAKE ON THE PARTY APPARATUS, MEDIA, AND INDIRECTION THE DNC WHICH WANTS THE NOMINEE TO BE ROMNEY TO TOTAL EVISCERATE HIM ON CLASS WARFARE. Forget Paul, he will stay in to the end. It needs to be "Santgrich" at this point, combined votes of Santorum and Gingrich, with Santorum as the anti-Romney stalking horse.

Sorry, but I’m not thrilled with Santorum and think he’s going to fade. I don’t like compassionate conservatives. That’s how he governed. I could easily vote for him in the general election, but I don’t think he’s the best conservative in the race, not by a long shot.

Total total

Mittens is at 143
Santorum is at 62
Newt is at 32
Ron Paul is at 20.
This includes the 15 for both Mittens and Santorum.

Of these Santorum has 33 that could infact change their mind and vote Mittens or RonPaul. Newt only has 3 and Ron Paul has 9.

Do I wish all the delegates were Locked to their Candidate? Yes but unfortunately that is not the case.

Correction I have seen a Post showing Santorum with 87 delegates in total.

I have Santorum with 3 in Nevada & Maine. 7 in Iowa. 15 in Michigan. 17 in Minnesota and Colorado.

That is 62. Where did I miss 25 delegates I usually keep better records than this? Super Delegates possibly?

My Humble apologies.

“Santorum’s 2012 nominating convention delegate total is now in the high 80s .....with Gingrich at about 29 GOP delegates.”

And if the revised final tally in Michigan is indeed 17-13 in Rick’s favor ...total it all up and combine Rick and Newt’s delegates and....

Willard is dooooooooomed!!

No problem, what I did earlier was check about three online sources, including AP total and then the graphic NY Slimes is using. That is where I came up with the 86 for Santorum, and Gingrich down to 29.

PS My you have good manners.

Wyoming is an open primary state, and the state has the second highest proportion of Mormons to the rest of the population (1/9 of Wyoming residents are Mormon).
