This week at a tele-town hall hosted by Ralph Reeds Faith and Freedom Coalition, a caller asked Newt Gingrich if he would consider choosing former half-term Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.
Gingrich responded by saying that Palin is certainly one of the people you would look at and told the caller that he is a great admirer of hers.
"She is certainly one of the people you would look at. I am a great admirer of hers and she was a remarkable reform governor of Alaska, shes somebody who I think brings a great deal to the possibility of helping in government and that would be one of the possibilities."
"There are also some very important Cabinet positions that she could fill very, very well. I cant imagine anybody who would do a better job of driving us to an energy solution than Gov. Palin, for example. Tell her that she would certainly be on the list of one of the people we would consider."
I predict Gov Martinez of NM will be his running mate.
Disagree.
There’s no evidence Palin has a drive to be president.
It’s been shown, she’d be willing to be VP.
I see no reason she would not run with Gingrich. I can see LOTS of upside for both of them.
And for us.
Americans. FReepers. Tea partiers.
Total win on this idea. I hope it’s true.
Please Sarah—We need you!
If you don’t run as President—run as someone’s VP
If not that—Run for Senate
If Not that—run for Congress
We need you in Washington!
Yes we already tried it, and she almost single-handedly rescued McCains horrible campaign.
Let’s try that again. Absolutely.
The Department of Energy oversees nuclear power. I think you mean Interior.
No thanks. The VP pick won’t be Palin.
Will Sarah insist this time that Bambi gets vetted or will she stay silent like she did the first time?
How can she run for public office four years later when she still does not know who her boss’ opponent is?
Oh well then, it’s settled.
Gingrich would likely let her go after Obama where McCain muzzled her.
Let me get this straight.
The entire GOP has remained meek and run active interference along with all the media and the entire chattering classes of America and the rest of the world, and you’re blaming Palin who isn’t even in a position to do anything about it, for not vetting Obama?
Did I understand that correctly?
“One of the people he would look at”—translation, he wants her supporters’ votes for the primaries.
W00t!
Oh, I think Palin likes both governing and campaigning, and the whole ‘serving the people’ element. But she does have an almost manic aversion to the innate sleaze/corruption in politics in which one becomes ‘beholden’ to others, from Party machines to corporate interests to lobbyists to the whole ‘professional political class.’
also, our nuclear weapons
“The Order defines and affirms the authorities and responsibilities of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) for the management of the Department of Energy Nuclear Weapons Complex and emphasizes that the management of the United States nuclear weapons stockpile is the DOE’s highest priority for the NNSA and the DOE Nuclear Weapons Complex. Cancels DOE O 5600.1.”
Perry changes his stance on abortion and it’s a “cynical ploy” but Newt starts talking about a Palin VP slot (which she has already said she’s not interested) and some just lap it up.
It’s a cynical ploy and only convinces me more that Newt is untrustworthy. He’s embracing the Tea Party just long enough to get your vote and then he’ll dump us for his Washington cronies. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Imagine that? It would be even funnier if he were to put Ron Paul as the Sectetary of the Treasury to undo all the damage Tiny Tim Geithner has inflicted on the deficit. (But we know that Run Paul would probably decline.)
I don’t think she would accept, and I don’t think Newt should make the offer.
Sec. of Energy after the election , perhaps not a bad idea. But VP and a run for the job? No.
She doesn’t need to start all of that harrassment again.
They will come after her like a welfare recipient after free cheese.
Double W00t!
I predict your prediction has much merit.
