In front of a wildly supportive crowd of Tea Party members at a rally in Indianola, Iowa, Sarah Palin said that the U.S. is now at a tipping point.
While didnt explicitly announce her candidacy for the 2012 Presidential race, observers at the Des Moines Register who covered the event said Palins comments sounded like a campaign speech.
Iowa you are good people, Palin said. Were here because America is at a tipping point. America faces a crisis, and its not a crisis like perhaps a Midwest summer storm that moves in and hits hard, but then moves on.
When the crowd interrupted her 40-minute speech with wild cheers, Palin said: Folks, you know its not enough to just change up the uniform if we dont change the game plan.
Palin covered a broad array of her topics during her speech in front of a rain-soaked crowd of some 2,000.
Our country cant afford more trillion dollar thank you notes to campaign backers, she said. Like you, Im not for sale.
Warning that its time restore a country that we love, she said the people need to restore all that is free and good and right about America.
Here are some other quotes from Palins speech as quoted by a Register series of tweets.
*Real hope is in you. Its not that hopey, changey stuff that we heard about back in 2008.
*Instead of chasing industry off-shore, I propose to eliminate all federal corporate income tax.
*Many big corporations, they skirt federal taxes because they have friends in DC who write the rules for the rest of us.
*Americas economic revival starts with Americas energy revival.
*We need to move on tapping our own God-given natural resources that are part of our reserves.
*The real stimulus that were waiting for is robust and responsible domestic energy production.
*Lets enforce the 10th amendment. Devolve powers back locally.
*My plan is a bona fide, pro working-mans plan.
*The real challenge is not whether we will replace Obama in 2012 but who we will replace him with.
*I believe in the free market which is why I detest crony capitalism. ... Obama has shown us crony capitalism on steroids.
*I dont play that game of hiring expert political advisers just so theyll say something nice about me on TV.
*You want to know why the permanent political class never really cuts anything? Its because theres nothing in it for them.
*Polls? Usually I say polls are for strippers and cross-country skiers.
*We are governed by a permanent political class, until we change that.
*President Obama, is this what you call winning the future? I call it losing our country.
*We love our country in good times and in bad and we never apologize for America.
Great graphic!
No, but the impatient drumming of fingers is becoming a din.
She is not running
I love these Baghdad Bob threads.
She gets all of the Palinistas worked up into a lather, and then leaves them unsatisfied.
We used to have a name for high school girls that did that. It ended with “tease.”
But, the Baghdad Bobs will come onto the thread and say, “She is waiting until September 16th”, or “She promised that she would let us know in the month of September.”
Going back to the high school analogy: How many movies and dinners are you folks going to pay for before she kisses you good night?
I guess she really believes in abstinence.
I guess when she quit her job, that was simply advancing in another direction.
OK, she got the “establishment” pissed off at her. She could not bring enough people into the Alaskan GOP to support her?
There was not enough support around the country to get some financial support?
Seems a little problematic to me.
Supporters set up a fund. The Dems sued her and she wasn’t allowed to use the money.
There are about 10 great reasons for her NOT to run, and she is way too smart to ignore them. Love her dearly, but she will be a kingmaker, rather than trying to be the king.
Alaska can't be compared to any other state. It's laws are different ...
They are - because of an ethics law which left office holders vulnerable to law suits. This law (which some thought very silly) was promoted by ... Sarah Palin. Like several of pieces of legislation she sponsored, it is now being unwound.
When she resigned, Sarah Palin didn't say she was doing it because of the law suits. She said it was because she was a second term governor and therefore could not stand again. She had harsh words for those who serve out their term: Many just accept that lame-duck status, hit the road, draw the paycheck and milk it. I'm not putting Alaska through that I promised efficiencies and effectiveness. I love my job, and I love Alaska. It hurts to make this choice, but I am doing what's best for Alaska.
It must suck to be the other candidates and just *know* you're being toyed with. It must be how the mouse feels while waiting for the cat to stop playing and inflict the killing strike."
LOLOL! Best quip yet!
For the faint of heart, I will say one more time: She did NOT say she would be announcing her run today. She did say she would be making an important speech. Which she did. She also said some time ago that she would not be announcing a run this early, but to expect to hear an announcement around the end of September. According to my calendar, that's a solid three weeks or more away.
and, you can't buy all the FREE publicity she is getting from liberal heads beginning to vibrate wildly. (That reminds me: I'd better go see if my good slicker still fits.) Their heads are going to look like that exploding whale the minute she makes it official. LOLOL!
WRONG!
Second term governor? LOL.
Thanks very much for making a fool of yourself while trying to do the same to DJMacWow!
I don’t question her independence, I do question her decision in allowing evil to prevail.
When she resigned, Sarah Palin didn't say she was doing it because of the law suits.
Yes. She did. She said it cost Alaska $2 Mil and untold man hours. She also said she was $500,000 in the hole.
She said it was because she was a second term governor
In her first term? You'd better listen to her speech again.
Where do these uninformed people come from?!
PDSers? Dunno, but they emerge and they always get the facts wrong. So easy to spot. Fueled by hate.
Many apologies - I mean in her second half of term as governor. But I believe that quote is accurate.
Again, that's a pantload. And the quote is taken out of context and mislabeled by you.
The site owner has been warning trollers. I'd believe him. Especially when fabricating.
I do apologise for that error of fact in my post - but I have double-checked the quote, and I believe it is word for word correct.
And taken out of context. What’s your point?
