Texas governor Rick Perry looks, at the moment, like the man many Republicans have been waiting for. Perry has yet to enter the presidential race - he looks likely to do so in August - but he is already polling close to ostensible frontrunner Mitt Romney.
The buzz around Perry isn't just driven by the polling. It's grounded in the fact that Perry could potentially bridge the divide between the Tea Party conservatives and the party establishment. To borrow a phrase from Perry's predecessor in the Texas governor's office, who went on to bigger things: Perry could be a uniter, not a divider, that the GOP is desperate to find.
Ping to a surprisingly even-handed article on Perry from CBS.
Well said ICC. Then there is the entire issue of his love affair with all things illegal, as in the mexican criminal invaders who are daily eating away at this Nation’s core like a cancer. C’mon Perry supporters....please explain why we should push such a man who is helping destroy our Country. A few other FReepers have put up posts on other threads with numerous links that outline all of Perry’s dealings with illegal immigration, the open border, illegal’s health care dealings etc. etc. etc. and they just go on and on and on. I realize all candidates have a few items that we are all not gonna agree on but allowing and helping the illegal’s continued criminal invasion of our Country is not just something we can or should brush off lightly.
Because we Texans are just dumbasses who can't make informed decisions but for CBS.
Texans are very aware of the "skeletons" that CBS mentions. They don't care. They voted for him, then voted for him again, then voted for him again.
Oh the humanity that he supported Giuliani over such strong republicans leaders such as John McCain and Mike Huckabee.
Oh the humanity that he issued an EO regarding HPV after the CDC recommended it. Oh the humanity that he allowed for people to not take it if they didn't want it.
Oh the humanity that he put forward an idea to modernize the transit system here in Texas, with private companies footing the bill for it rather than having to raise taxes.
The people of Texas know Perry, and are not dumbasses with their heads stuck in the sand. Is he perfect? No. Is he conservative? Yes. Will he win the nomination if he jumps in? I'm betting yes. Will he beat Obama? He'll pop him between the eyes, get him all wee-wee'd up, and then beat him like a red-headed stepchild. And he'll do it with Palin's support, the support of the GOP governors, and the already strong support he has from the Texas Tea Party.
FreeRepublic seems to regard conservative blogs and Webzines as their personal enemies
Interesting. The blogger section of Free Republic must be some kind of cleverly disguised trap. Nefarious as hell, that.
CBS draws research from from conservative blogs
I think you have it backwards. Bloggers reword stories from news sources.
How many folks have you on your research staff? Good, bad or indifferent, what's the total?
FreeRepublic plays up CBS and gives them advertising revenue.
A member of Free Republic posted an article from CBSNews.
Hardly "playing them up". The article is excerpted due to copyright restrictions.
Anyone want to splain-it-to-me?
I just did. Pay attention.
Also pinging the one who seems to be FRs resident thug in chief, humblegunner.
Actually, that's "Blog Overlord". I don't wear the brass anymore though. Not your business why.
The fact is that news sources don't come here promoting their own material.
Some bloggers do. Pimping, I think it's called. Excerpting their own material to get hits.
That's bad, Mmmkay? That's using Free Republic as an advertising tool to profit from blog hits.
It seems some folks don't like that.
It's sad that this bothers you. Really sad and I'm sorry about it.
Now go to sleep, son. You have a busy day tomorrow.
I’ll take that problem. You can have Rosie O’Donnell, ‘k?
8^D
Frankly there isn’t a single candidate running that fires on all cylinders. I will have to compromise no matter what, and I want the most conservative candidate I can get that can still beat Obama. If it’s Perry, I’ll vote for him.
Thanks for the ping. Yes, it is a surprisingly even-handed article for CBS. I wonder why they did that.
See-BS. Yeah, I believe!
At this point, if a dead mule were running against Obama, I’d vote for the mule. No sweat!
he’s texan.
“The Free Republic loves Perry for president!!”
Ha ha ha! Yeah Right. So, YOU speak for the whole of FR? Ha ha ha! I don’t think so! BTW, you sure do have a freakish kinda “love”. But I guess to each his own. LOL!
read later.
I’ve been saying that all along Perry is La Raza’s D.R.E.A.M. candidate.
I don’t believe in ad hominem attacks.
Humblegunner, I will point out that your post (to which this is a reply) is thoroughly warped and is akin to the product of a sociopath.
Humblegunner speaks of the blogger forum, but persecutes posters in it, along with JimRob’s troll posse.
Who needs subversives when you shoot yourself?
(Humblegunner, how did my post wake you up? Some sort of alarm?)
Yea and so is Sheila Jackson Lee.
Actually, she is a naturally very beautiful little girl — with an extraordinarily engaging personality.
She’s a 2011 “it girl,” and concomitant with that, her behavior has been truly evil in keeping with her milieu.
If the guy is such a devious, toad-sucking, belly-crawling liberal, why do most Texans vote for him? I gather that to get right with God, we dummies who find the man interesting must now swear allegiance to the only man who is pure enough to pass the FR smell test, Mike Huckleberry.
Uh-oh What will the Perry FanBoys say to that heavy list????
