Well it would seem that Republicans in Congress blinked agreeing to a last minute deal where they compromised everything and Democrats gave nothing. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is doing a victory lap, and President Obama was thankful that funding Planned Parenthood was avoided.
"We protected the investments we need to win the future. At the same time, we also made sure at the end of the day this was a debate about spending cuts not social issues like womens health and the protection of our air and water. These are important issues that deserve discussion, just not during a debate about our budget."
Whose future was protected? Certainly not the unborn. Why shouldnt the funding for Planned Parenthood be discussed during a budget debate. Were talking money. This wasnt an abortion ban. That statement is asinine. During a budget debate is the perfect time to discuss what is worthy of taxpayer money and what is not.
And House Republicans caved. Typical.
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) mentioned that this didnt even include defunding Obamacare. She said that this was a small ball battle, and not worth the fight. (I take that back, I must have misunderstood her. She voted against the CR that averted the shutdown.)
I disagree. If Republican leadership caves here what possible confidence do we have that they wont cave in a big battle?
Instead of larger spending cuts and the defunding of Planned Parenthood only $38 billion is being cut this year, and $78 billion in next years budget. Considering the spending binge that Democrats have taken us on and the massive debt that we now face that is no where near good enough. What exactly did they give?
Couldnt we at least have had the defunding of Planned Parenthood that the House voted for in February? After the corruption found in that organization that they get a single taxpayer dime is unacceptable! It must be defunded and the House had the leverage to do it, and they blinked.
They let the government shutdown bogeyman spook them. Former Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR) blinked as well. He said on Fox News quoted by Dave Weigel:
"To quote two great government paragons, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, you cant always get what you want. You get what you can, then you fight for the rest the next day Id love to see Planned Parenthood just disappear, Id love to see NPR defunded but youre going to put a lot of pain on people who dont deserve the pain."
Governor Huckabee is it ok for the President of the United States, the Commander-in-Chief, to hold the military hostage over Planned Parenthood funding? Why in the world would they not allow him to make good on the threat to veto the continuing resolution that would have kept our military funded? His action is appalling and he should be called on the carpet for it. Instead we cave so we can be ready to fight another day . utter nonsense.
Fight now. I agree with Governor Palin who tweeted twice today "GOP: dont retreat! The country is going broke. We cant AFFORD cowboy poetry & subsidizing abortion. If we cant fight to defund this nonsense now when we have the chance, do you think well win the big fight on entitlement reform later on?"
It seems to me that as it stands right now that House Republican leadership will take the path of least resistance. I had hoped not to have to wait until 2012 to make at least some progress.
It's great that you put the links together. But there is NO WAY that any PDSer here will ever read them -- they can't handle the truth about Sarah.
They are fake conservatives, jealous of Sarah, or weak RINOs are heart. They will be just as rabid against Sarah after she wins the nomination. Nothing on this Earth will change their minds (how ever little they may be.)
You are so right (NOT!) It explains their obsession with Sarah and hatred of ALL things Sarah. One has to be delusional to think the left wants to run against her. She is the ONLY candidate that brings fear to their core.
I predicted long ago that Obama will find some way not to debate Sarah. Obama's worse fear is to run against Sarah. Sarah will crush the Marxist (>370EV)
Yes he does, Chief.
The speaker is responsible for agreeing to a record $3.6 trillion budget and a record $1.5 trillion budget deficit for 2011, all increases over the 2010 budget.
I think he should be held accountable for that.
indianwrongwinger - some of us here don’t need a memo or
a news story - our opinions and thoughts and feelings are
ours and ours alone. She will be a candidate and she will win...
I agree with what you said, only it would be same deal for Trump as well.
Palin or bust!!!
If they wanted her to run, they would keep their mouths shut and stop trying to drive her out of the race. JEESH
LOL...yep!
If Trump and Palin announce they’re running, the other hopefuls should hang it up.
Oh yeah, baby!
Yes, we do.
She campaigned for a treacherous Obama-loving RINO named John McCain despite the fact that he supported the infamous fascist bailouts and then threw the election to Obama.
Fail - and I'm not talking about just McCain and Obama here.
I agree totally. She can campaign like no one I have seen. Then watch the numbers.
At the end of the day, I knew that this latest episode would be a disappointment for conservatives. The fact is that the Congressional GOP was just playing footsie and pushed for some token cuts. Ultimately, the Senate and Obama wouldn’t be interested in substantial cuts, and the GOP feared that they would come out on the losing end of the PR war. If they aren’t prepared to take a risk over a few billion dollars, they aren’t prepared to fight the big battles either. The 2012 budget battle is where it gets interesting - let’s see if they even manage to mount inspiring rhetoric, let alone actual results. Obama and company will simply have nothing of it, so best we can hope for is a new President and Senate in town in 2013 where we might have a shot at serious change. Sarah has the right idea: I hope she continues to do her part with the battle over hearts and minds.
” .... but youre going to put a lot of pain on people who dont deserve the pain.”
We may safely assume Huckie wasn’t talking about fetal pain. I wonder just exactly whose “pain” he was concerned about.
‘Sarah Palin is a pathetic arm chair General. She has no responsibility. She has no accountability. She hides behind tweeting and Facebook posts. Give me a damn break. The Speaker had Real responsibility and accountability.’
Apparently your entire complaint against Gov. Palin is that right now she holds no public office. A few Presidents who held no public office during their election campaign:
George Washington
Abraham Lincoln
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Richard M. Nixon
James Carter
Ronald Reagan
I guess none of these folks had any accountability when the were elected President?
As it stands now and with Palin’s latest stated posisition on Trumps search, it seems to me a Trump-Palin ticket is in the making. A pretty good ticket considering the weak kneed republican political jockeys with the exception of Cain and West.

This is going to get very interesting.
Thanks for the pingy .................. FRegards
For the same reason that you would "tear down" a highly intoxicated motorcycle rider that your daughter is planning to hitch a ride with:
You do not want to see her commit suicide even if she is totally out of touch with reality.
You dont like Palin, dont vote for her but stop the nonsense and let us know who you think is better?
"I don't like that particular dead-drunk motorcycle rider, dear daughter. I will wait for a sober taxi driver to take me home even though I may not even know his name yet. But, far be it from me to say anything negative about your suicidal choice. You just go right ahead and hitch a ride with the dead-drunk motorcycle rider. I won't say a word."
Who is better?
Among Independent voters, even Charlie Sheen is deemed better .... or, at least, is deemed just as much of a joke:
Who is better for Conservatives?
How about a Republican nominee that WILL NOT ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE the reelection of Barack Hussein Obama?
With ultra-toxic poll numbers that are just slightly better than those of Nancy Pelosi, Sarah Palin has as much of a chance of being elected President as Charlie Sheen does.
Zero. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
FOX News Poll (February 7-9, 2011)
Question 3: I am going to read you a list of names. Tell me if you think that person would make a good President or not.
Sarah Palin:
.................YES.........NO.......DK.....Never heard of
ALL...........23%.......72%.........4%.......1%
Dem ...........7%........87%........5%.......1%
Rep ...........40%.......56%.......3%.......1%
Ind ...........25%........69%.......3%.......1%
A better question is why should anybody take you serious with such an over the top comparison.
Pray for America
