On Wednesday, California Republican strategist and Yolo County supervisor Matt Rexroad loaded up Facebook and put up a short complaint about U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina's embrace of Sarah Palin.
The awkward part of this? Rexroad is a managing partner of Meridian Pacific, Inc., a strategy firm hired by... Carly Fiorina. While Rexroad doesn't work on that account, the Fiorina campaign paid Meridian Pacific $31,509.88 for consulting and travel in the first quarter of 2010. Reached by phone, Rexroad stood by the post and stuck up for his colleagues working for Fiorina.
"I hope it's not a big deal!" he laughed. "I support Carly and I'll be voting for her, and I think she's going to win. But from my point of view, I don't know how you quit as the governor of your state and get taken seriously. I have a client this cycle who tells me I should keep this to myself, but it's my opinion. Look at Ross Perot -- he was rock star for a while, and then after a while people said, hey, he's kind of crazy."
Rexroad's somewhat heretical take on Palin gets at the disconnect that a lot of Republican strategists feel between the former governor's political influence and her role as a serious figure. At the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, Palin got, by far, the best reception of any possible 2012 candidate who took the stage. But she came in third in the straw poll, and plenty of Republicans told reporters that they hesitated to back her because they didn't think she could handle the job of president yet.(continued)

OK, I'm calling BS. What's his business partner's name, Dash Riprock? Rip Torn? It's as improbable as a porn writer named Hardy Peters or a war correspondent called Wolf Blitzer.
These guys have this idea Fixee that moderate Republicanism is a winning formula. But it doesn’t win.
Matt Pantload just committed career suicide.
McCain staffer ping.
Amen. I think I actually lost knowledge when I left home and went to college. Ended up dropping out before I got completely stupid.
Sarah Palin rocks; that is precisely why the left and Obama himself spend so much energy fighting a declared (by them) non-entity.
I always thought Peter O’Toole was the perfect male porn name.
We’ve never heard from them - that someone is not ready. They KNOW she is MORE than ready! She’s ready to clean house and upset the good ‘ole boys club entitlements.
The Irish have some talent for mal-naming their kids. For example, the famous Irish inventor, Pat Pending (I see his name on all kinda things), or the exterior designer Patty O'Furniture.
In any event, Matt Rexroad is a bridge too far.
Or the famous Irish gay couple: Patrick Fitzmichael and Michael Fitzpatrick.
“GOP Strategist” - goes to show you why the GOP is in the state that it is.
The Alinsky left was making up ethical complaints
No doubt Sarah Palin anticipated MSM fifth-column (redundant?) soundbites of "...declines the endorsement, because hundreds of unanswered ethics complaints still surround the rogue AK Governor..."
Cheers,
OLA
you have nothing to worry about, she doesn’t endorse assholes
Sarah is a sweet girl and a great spokesperson. It is not being a hater to say she is not exactly an intellectual heavyweight. This is not a damning statement, nor is it an attempt to give cover to the imbeciles on the left barely smart enough to log in to KOS and celebrate their own superior cognitive abilities. It is juat saying what is.
Because of that, there are always going to be fence straddling Republicans of the Carly crowd who cower at the sneers.
It is just life. Let em in the party. Smile at them and say “glad to have you.... here are the rules and you can criticize them all you like...., but it is our gala here. There is the door. Hope you don’t use it, but you need to know where it is.”
It is a failure to do that which has created the mess we have, given us the most horrible set of Republican presidents we could ask for (Bush 1 and Bush 2), and left the Republican party wondering where its soul is.
This clown in CA would not be even speaking up if we knew who we are.
Sorry, who?
With the party and the track record that the GOP has, I’d be embarrassed to call myself a ‘Republican strategist’.
Heh. I’m starting to wonder whether that’s the big reason she endorsed at least some candidates over others.
Seriously, Matt, first, I live in California, follow politics fairly avidly and I’ve never heard of you.
Second, based on recent performance, if I were a politician in or a consultant for the California Republican Party, left, right or center, I’d probably be best served to keep that fact to myself. Way too many of you have been disappointly sloppy the last few elections, including this one. Spend less time judging Sarah Palin’s competence and start proving your own. If you have any.
Third, Matt, when another guy in your firm feels obligated to go on the record to tell the Washington Post you have no idea what you’re talking about, that’s generally not good.
((((((((Ping)))))))
(((((PDS article)))))))
Also just a reminder Sarah will be on FNS tomrrow at 9:00 AM.
