Republican Mayor Ready to Take On Shuler (NC)
Congressional Quarterly ^ | October 12, 2009 | John McArdle

The mayor of Hendersonville, N.C., says he is ready to challenge Rep. Health Shuler in 2010.

Republican Greg Newman told local news outlets of his decision on Monday.

Newman has been mayor of Hendersonville since 2005.

In 2008,Shuler won a second term in the House by beating Asheville City Councilman Carl Mumpower by 26 points in a race that national Republicans did not target. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., carried the district by 5 points in the presidential race,

Questions about a real estate development could make Shuler more of a target in 2010.

CQ Politics currently rates the general election race "Leans Democratic".

I thought Shuler was thinking about running for Senate against Burr?

There are basically four critical positions on any of the NFL teams, i.e. owner, head coach, general manager, and personnel director; any sort of a real problem at any of those positions, and nothing else you can do will help.

Consider the Washington Deadskins for instance...

I mean, Vinnie Cerrato has ruined at least two NFL teams, the one other obvious case being San Fran, which has never recovered. After Gibbs left the first time, the skins went for ten or twelve years with absolutely zilch to show for drafting and this included totally blowing several very high draft picks.

The worst such case was Heath Schuler. D.C. sportswriters went to interview the clown and walked out shaking their heads; one exclaimed "Oh my God, they've just drafted Gomer Pyle" and another noted that you only had to talk to the guy for ten seconds to comprehend that he wasn't bright enough to play football in the NFL.

And then having given up on nfl football, the guy goes and gets himself elected as a demoKKKrat congressman from SC. I mean, Damond Runyon couldn't make that **** up....

I don’t know much about him. He’s a mayor and former prosecutor, and that’s about it.

There isn’t any position in NFL football which a stupid person could play, period.
