McHugh should not take the slot unless he can secure his seat for a Rep.

If Democrats win McHugh's seat, it will leave just two Republicans in the state's congressional delegation, further adding to the once-vibrant state party's woes.

Damn, I did not realize the situation in New York was that bleak.

It didn’t sound like he cared about that when he praised Obama for his bi-partisanship.

the timing is perfect for those college-age ACORN workers to spend their summer in the Adirondacks doing community organization. Provides a fine purpose for the stimulus money.

There are over 100 small towns up their that could a screaming to be organized.

He's probably looking out for himself. I mean, he can get a relatively high-level Administration position to close out his career, or be a back-bencher in a party going extinct in the Northeast, with little or no influence in the HoR. Sure, he puts the screws to his constituents and those who voted for him to do the job he's in, but that wouldn't be unique for the politcal class we have today.

NY will lose a seat to redistricting so who knows what Gerrymander he’d have to deal with in 2010?

yes, if a GOPer wins this seat and in ‘10, they will have a battle to stay in congress after re-districting. But a battle worth waging.

because there is no primary, conservatives need to get to work to keep the RINOs from getting this seat.

Good point. It’s one reason that Congressman Peter King is thinking of running for the U.S. Senate next year.

Paul Maroun, county legislator, is the only pro-life candidate to come forward at this point. All of these state legislators who are rumbling are NARAL.

NOT Running: Griffo, Ray Meier, James Wright, Taub, Champagne, Little.

Something tells me the pro-aborts are going to swipe the nomination
