"Benedict Arlen" Specter defended his betrayals of conservative principles in an editorial in the Philadelphia Inquirer on Tuesday. In his editorial, 'Rising above Partisanship,'Specter referred to the Stimulus Bill, TARP, and future legislation with this quote from President John Kennedy: "Sometimes party loyalty asks too much." Scottish law?
Not to mention that whole “taking an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution” thing.
Poor guy, the things that are “asked” of him...
If asking a Republican to not vote for socialism is asking too much, then YES. We DO ask too much.
And should.
In my opinion, we aren’t asking and demanding enough of our candidates.
Done. He should have been thrown out a long time ago. The Republicans had their chance with Toomey and they blew it.
Get rid of this clown.
Drop kick this guy.
Most of the time, Specter gives too little, unless he is giving to the other side.
The only “party loyalty” that seems to be asking too much seems to be the DEMOCRAT PARTY.. and Specter and buddies are only too glad to oblige.
It also appears that all this “housing” mess was mostly created by the DEMOCRAT PARTY (Fannie & Freddie & forcing banks to loan to people who couldn’t afford it), pretending to turn a blind eye to the problem once they were in control. Now, the suburbs (which Obama was quoted as saying “bored him” are now sitting in ruin, with squatters moving in. Odd.
IOW, don’t mess with Specter’s earmarks and pork. The guy is pathetic.
What would the Founding Fathers say Arlen?
The expected Arlen Sphincter blowhole opinions....
You knew if you sat on the edge you might get cracked. Tisk, tisk.

Sen. Specter says hes trying to lead the Republican Party
...
Well, of course I am, Mr. Specter said when asked if hes worried about the conservative backlash. But (President) John Kennedy had it right. He said, Sometimes the party asks too much. And this is something I think is necessary for the country. It goes beyond politics. It goes beyond the Democratic or Republican position. Its the right thing for America.
Mr. Specter said he would have supported the package even if Democrats had not added $6.5 billion in additional money for the National Institutes of Health to the final version of the bill.
Mr. Specter had sought the money for years, and had mentioned that he wanted the money in the bill when he met with President Barack Obama last week.
Thats only one small part ... Thats not determinative in my mind, he said.

I feel good about it, Durbin said. A number of Republicans have indicated that with the amendments that they requested, theyll be able to consider it.
Specifically, GOP Sens. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Kit Bond of Missouri may be thawing their opposition to the bill. Grassley told The Hill on Monday that he is undecided on the cloture vote, and Bond dodged the question.
Openly and honestly, Bond joked when asked how he will vote. Well find out for sure tomorrow.
Crossover support could also come from Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.); a senior GOP aide said he would be surprised if Bond and Specter dont support the omnibus. Support from Floridas other senator, Republican Mel Martinez, could also come because of the Cuba provision concessions, as well as from Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), who had also announced opposition because of the provisions.

Card Check under fire in the Senate
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2009/03/card_check_under_fire_in_the_s.html
Republican Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania is another key member who is wavering. Though he voted with Democrats in 2007, he now says, Im still thinking about it. He added, Im being lobbied on it very, very heavily.
Just signed it, and sent it on to like 50 people in my contact book.
Kick him to the curb!
Republican senators don’t even have the guts to criticize Specter, never mind expel him from the party. Anyhow, given the number of traitors to the American public currently in the party, where would we stop? A dozen or more senators would be made independents overnight. I would rather Specter be removed from all committee positions. That would strip him of his power.
They better have a closed primary, or ACORN will put him back in for sure.
