JFK got lots of credit when he said we would have a man on the moon by the end of the decade. It wasn't something we needed to do -- but it had some benefits, and people were in the mood for success in that area.

So what if it takes 10 years to get oil? One year or ten years -- increased energy production IS something we need to do, there are huge benefits, and the people are certainly in the mood for this.

No excuses, please. Just start, and we'll find out how long it takes. Removing roadblocks is all we need to get going.

Less than ten years would take it within the range of any prospective Obama Presidency, which means he’d be in trouble with his valued enviro-lobby...

Obama and his ilk want the United States to become a Third World country.

Another lie-

The people in those states don't want to drill for oil.

When I lived in Alaska for numerous years (97 - 01) the governor is on the record for wanting to drill, as were the elected state representatives, the native tribes, and the residents............ and now I hear on TV some Democrat actually stating that the “People in Alaska don't want to drill.”

That's playing into the ignorance of people. Most don't know better, so when you say some BS like that and no one questions it, it sort of sticks and leaves an impression.

Oil is seriously looking like it’s starting to roll over today.

It would take Obama ten years to figure out which end of the drill to stick in the ground first.

Yeah, I heard him on the radio the other day and he said 1 year for most and 2 years for the rest of the wells. This isn’t the 70’s, it’s the new millenium, and the tech is way ahead of the dems.

Obama has also said we can’t drill our way out of this problem. That may be true for the short term because we can’t get the oil immediately, but even if it took 10 years, it’s not like that would be hurting us now. One thing this country seriously lacks is investment and long term planning. Perhaps the best example of this is the national debt which can always be “tomorrow’s problem” and conveniently that’s always a day away.

Why do we give government so much control of the market place, and why are politicians so stupid?

CNBC had a panel on yesterday, including those that work in the oil industry. All of them said the 10 year claim was nothing but political theater and all were in agreement that within 5 years we would see a substantial increase in domestic output.

Why does the federal government OWN LAND?..
Washington D.C. should OWN NO LAND.. even Washington D.C. proper..

WHEN it became possible for Washington D.C. to OWN LAND in the States..
We became a Democracy.. the Coup D'Etat of the REPUBLIC began..
This is a Constitutional issue..

The other talking point has been how much government land is already available for drilling “or soon will be” (I heard the tape from one top Democrat saying that clarifier).

“Soon will be”?

That doesn’t reflect the world as it is TODAY.

And under Clinton all sorts of government land was put off limits (just look at coal).

One year is about right, so long as the federal, State, & local D@mocrats (including the Sahara Club, Dirt First!, etc.) don't file law suits to stop it (a 'fool's dream,' given their extensive fascist track records). And I've got 20 years experience upon which to base that opinion.

You wonder what most Americans would say if the D@mocrats had pushed America's farmers off 85% of the best farm land, because of their political party's extremist 'environmental' special interest groups. Limiting our farmers to desert land wouldn't produce much food, so the price would naturally go up. The D@mocrats would no doubt respond by putting a "windfall profits tax" on food producers (just as they are currently proposing for oil producers), and blaming farmers for not producing enough, because (after all) they would have millions of acres of desert land at their disposal.

Certain areas are MUCH more likely than others to produce food (or oil & gas). The US outer continental shelf, ANWR, and certain onshore areas are MUCH more likely to contain major quantities of oil & gas than areas currently available (under extremist D@mocrat 'environmental' restrictions). That is a basic fact the D@mocrats are simply lying about, in a desperate attempt to conceal the truth from the American people...
