Guess who’s a Ron Paul fan (Robert Novak! Also says "Thompson will get the nod")
Scholars & Rogues ^ | August 1, 2007 | Mike Sheehan

Posted on 09/08/2007 6:56:04 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

It’s Wednesday and I’m posting, so those are two big fat hints right there. Of course: it’s the Prince of Darkness himself, Bob Novak. How could that be, when Novak has been pimping Fred Thompson for weeks? Well, acquaint yourself with Novak’s weird sense of humor. Loathe as I am to link to the Washington Times, it’s in their “Fishwrap” (snicker) blog that he is quoted as follows:

When asked to rate the current field of Republican presidential candidates, Novak didn’t have any kind words for the current top-tier field of Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney and John McCain. But when pressed as to who he thinks will be the eventual nominee, Novak said he expects Thompson to get the nod. However, Novak offered his own personal endorsement of Texas congressman Ron Paul. “He’s a very engaging person… I’d like to see him as president,” Novak said. “Can you imagine him at the United Nations?”

He is also quoted as saying of Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), “I think he’s the worst leader of the Senate since Bill Frist.” Hard to disagree with him there, but since Reid has been the only leader of the Senate since Bill Frist, I guess that also makes him the best too. Funny guy, that Novak.

Elsewhere, in this week’s exclusive Novak newsletter, he is uncharacteristically harsh on the GOP in re: to his ongoing attack on Congressional earmarks:

The question for Republicans is simple: how many more of their members have to go to jail before their leaders embrace the concept of reform? The motivation need not even be so negative: The conservative ideological position of limited government gives the GOP an opportunity to exploit a great political issue by embracing reform. Yet neither the prospect of several Republicans’ going to prison nor the disastrous loss of the 2006 election has weakened the party’s embrace of the earmark model they ran from while holding the majority…

With 32,000 earmark requests floating through Congress, Republicans may want to heed Novak’s words, even if he is a weirdo.

“Mind our own business, bring our troops home, defend our country, defend our borders.” - Ron Paul

Hate to burst the Neo Isolationist bubble of the Paulbots but the free flow of oil from the ME is a vital US National Security intrest. We ARE minding our own business in Iraq. Same way Ronald Reagan was when he had the US Navy escort oil tankers thur the Gulf during the Iran-Iraq war.

“A Traditional Non-Intervention Foreign Policy”

The USA hasn't had a "Non-Interventionist" Foreign policy since before the Mexican-American war. This is another example of how the Paulbots simply tune out all reality to cling to their Neo Isolationist dogmas. Go read the history of Central America and the Caribbean to see how "Non Intervention" we have ever been. More of Paul's habit of ignoring all reality to cling to dogma

What would Ron Paul ever get done as President? The Congress is not going to give him anything he wants, nothing.

Gridlock? Suits me.

There is a Ron Paulian at work who insists 911 was an inside job. He thinks President Bush blew up the towers, and our support of Israel must end! But the other day I found out the real reason he supports Ron Paul. He said the day Ron Paul is inaugurated he will legalize marijuana. Thats his main issue.......Go figure,,,,,,,

“Can you imagine him at the United Nations?”

Telling them to kiss his arse as opposed to sucking up to them. Yes I can imagine it. Is it legal to dream to save America from the UN?

If one took the initiative to learn Dr. NO, he would veto unConstitutional legislation. That's what he would do. And while congress was frustrated trying to overrule his veto, he would be busy undoing unConstitutional executive orders.

It's a rEVOLution. It's legal...and no guns are needed. It's a peaceful by vote return to Constitutional rule of law.

One man stands alone on the stage supporting our Constitution. Neocons and liberals ridicule him for standing for the Constitution. But that does not distract him. His record and his stand in the debates demonstrates his committment to this nation as a Constitutional Republican. The man has some big kahunas. I admire him for his attempt. Few men would even try today. To disrespect him for trying as I have witnessed in this forum by anti-Constitutionists should have a barf alert disclaimer.

I beg to differ. But thanks for supporting RP even when unintentional. Since the more you deny him, the more he will be. Thanks for your uninentional support.

Please keep bringin it. We appreciate your support even if unintended. Since the more you speak, the more people will support RP. RP supporters will always be indebted to your unintentional service.

thanks

There are no legitimate challenges here. No one here has dared to challenge the freedom message.

I’m thinking freedom is getting a foot hold on America.

I agree Ron Paul is a weirdo and does not impress me in the least with his messages. I just wish Fred Thompson would start being a little more aggressive in letting people know what his plans are for the issues he is addressing. I am afraid we are going to have to hold our noses and cast a vote for Gulliani. The only benefit to him is that he his a hard ass on foreign policies and he might have a pretty good fiscal policy.

I am all for removal of the UN and the US leaving the UN. But I dont think anyone has the power or balls to even attempt something like that. It would take blue helmets trying to occupy our country for that to happen.

>The only benefit to him is that he his a hard ass on foreign policies and he might have a pretty good fiscal policy.<

His fiscal policy would crash the moment he signed an amnesty bill and that is enough to sink our Republic into the back pages of the history books.

If we could get America back onto a Constitutional tracking there is hope and so far Paul is the only one who seems to understand what that is. oday our government is totally FUBAR.

Have you ever seen this?

U.S. carrier help? (Admiral offers help to China)

Adm. Tim Keating, the U.S. Pacific Command leader, told reporters during his visit to China last month that while building and operating a carrier battle group is complex, the United States is willing to help.

"We would, if they choose to develop [an aircraft-carrier program], help them to the degree that they seek and the degree that we're capable, in developing their programs," Adm. Keating said.

U.S. may share missile info with China
WASHINGTON, June 4 (UPI) -- The United States would "seriously" consider sharing technology and missile warning intelligence with China, (Secretary of Defense Gates) the U.S. defense chief said Sunday.

Did you miss post #10?

Please follow link.

Dr. Ron Paul (R) has indeed the balls.

Too bad so many Republicans don't have what it takes to follow his lead.

Since I do not adhere to the Republican way of thinking I really do not care what Republicans stick to. I want a Burkian conservative and Dr. Paul, is not it. He has some semi reasonable ideas on smaller government and taxes but his isolationist view would get us overrun in the free market and military arenas. Yes NAFTA, GATT, etc. need to go the way of the dinosaurs, but concentrating on these issues attracts the lunatic fringe. After all it is the same people who are all claiming first the NWO, then the North American Union and using these two economic treaties as evidence. And it is the same people who are backing Ron Paul, that is a group I want no association with. If Paul wants to be honest run under the libertarian or maybe a Constitutionalist ticket that is who he is closer to than a conservative.

I would love to give them some of our tech and help them build a fleet. If you ask me it is tactically sound. Even if they would change the things we gave them we would still know it’s core weaknesses and I guarantee we aren’t giving them our best stuff. Probably crap from he 80’s or 90’s and as I stated before we would know everything they have. Also, if they become dependent on us for weapons tech then who do you think they are going to call to service it? We can gather intel and if they get squirrelly then we can do to them what we did to Iran with the F-14’s, cut them off and let it all wither on the vine. As far as Gulliani I have to agree with you on the Amnesty Bill. Anyone who passes that into reality just shot Lady Liberty right through the eyes.

You seem to be confused as to what you support.

You claim to want a Burkean conservative, but didn't Burke say; "Bad laws are the worst form of tyranny"?

BTW: the Republican "majority" is supportive of NAFTA, GATT, CAFTA, the NAU, the WTO, but somehow you are not? I would like you to think about this and clarify your position, please.

Furthermore, when you (correctly) place Ron Paul in the Constitution Party, you have indicated he stands for our Constitution, (also correctly), but then you make a generalized statement which effectively claims that the Republican Party is the only conservative one.

So which is it for you?

"I would love to give them some of our tech and help them build a fleet. If you ask me it is tactically sound."

Firstly, how would helping the Chi-Coms build a fleet of warships affect our relationship with the RNC? Don't you think such beligerency would have a detrimental effect on diplomatic relations with our friends?

Secondly, how is giving our sworn enemy (PRC) the ability to kill Americans be considered anything at all like a "tactically sound" move?

But don't worry yourself any; the current administration (Republican), and the next administration (democrat), will continue to follow through in upgrading the Chinese navy at our expense.

P.S. Got any children in the U.S. Navy?
