February 1, 2007:
Texas Republican contributors are being solicited to spend $30,000 for dinner with former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani at the Houstonian Hotel in Houston Feb. 1 to finance his presidential exploratory committee. The private dinner will follow a 6:30 to 8 p.m. cocktail reception, costing $2,100 a person and $4,200 for couples.
The best-known host of Giulianis Houston event is billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens Jr., chairman of the private equity firm BP Capital Management. Also on Giulianis Texas fund-raising team are Tom Hicks, whose company owns the Texas Rangers baseball team; oil industry executive Jim Lee; and lawyer Patrick C. Oxford.
You you can't handle the truth, LOL!
You, however, have to either sell Rudy as a conservative, or convince conservative voters that their views do not matter.
Rudy isn't a strong conservative, but he can do the right thing. On the other hand, I don't need to convince you or people like you of this. Get it?
How about a figure. Deport thinks at least $100 million. How much do you think Hunter will need?
You are a spammer, and the fact sure bothers you.
"Rudy isn't a strong conservative..."
What is he then?
You are right!
I can't disagree with that. We cannot handle the fact that some allegedly conservative folks want a pro-choice, pro-gun-control, pro-amnesty candidate.
Rudy isn't a strong conservative,
He isn't any kind of conservative. He is a east coast liberal Republican, which on a normal day can be rather difficult to discern from a moderate Democrat.
On the other hand, I don't need to convince you or people like you of this. Get it?
You already made your case without me even trying. Too bad you don't realize you undermined the larger sales job of Rudy to the base.
Check out your sources. You seem to have lots of them, LOL.
So you are saying that Rudy is trying to prevent abortion? Really? Wow, how?
What is he then?
That's easy, Rudy`s a strong liberal.
I think New Coke had the same sales force, quite frankly.
We'll give what we can and directly to his campaign, if for no other reason than to tick off the folk here who consider themselves the only REAL conservatives. He's 100% right on the most important issue of our time and he's proven his leadership ability - not only in the aftermath of 9/11 but also in his demonstrated ability to reduce crime in the Big Apple, despite all the whining of the lefties.
The Rudy bashers have proved once again that they come from the fringe group that is one of the nastiest in the Republican Party -- no wonder they have driven people away from being activists. Rudy must be a real threat to win or they wouldn't bother bashing so much. They did exactly the same thing to then Gov Bush in 2000 and he won. Same tactics except I was on dial up then and not able to research as fast.
Oh, we don't consider ourselves the only REAL conservatives.
However, someone who is pro-choice, pro-gun-control and pro-amnesty has a hard time donning the REAL CONSERVATIVE label. Or the conservative one at that.
Oh. And posters at FreeRepublic support him why?
The Party is devoid of character and integrity. It's akin to a fan section in a stadium. As long as the G.O.P. can taunt the opposition with a victory that is all that seems to matter. Makes no difference if both teams are wearing almost identical uniforms and running like plays.
I'd rather win and have some of our agenda realized, rather than lose and have none of it realized. And lets get back to work on improving the brand name - conservatives utterly failed at marketing their ideas.
OK, feel free to have the last word.
That's what you said, not me. But how does it feel to fail so badly year after year? Must make you hateful, huh?
I believe so, too.
Nastiest?
What was it that you said about pro-life groups a while ago?
That they really didn't want Roe v. Wade overturned because they would lose their donations?
That is probably one of the most mendancious, nastiest posts I have ever seen on FR. If you want to see really nasty, get up from the computer, go to the bathroom and look in the friggin' mirror.
You may want to take a look at the Constitution Party.
